J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Is there anything really "new" in the J Crew rollout? Same Daphne Topcoat (that ran too big), the same leopard coat, the same wool blazers, the same pull on skirt, the same Liberty blouses. Anything at all that is fresh, vibrant, creative and not "fast fashion?"

    1. Agreed. I like the daphne topcoat (didn't try it on last year though) and might get once it hits super sale as an in between coat.

  2. Ok... So slightly off topic for a minute:

The rewards thing. I have 25% off that comes up automatically. I didn't have to put in a promo. So I thought woot! I can use my birthday code on top of that. But nope. It actually added the birthday $25 but removed the 25% code. And I noticed that it no longer says free shipping and returns. Just free shipping. It's very confusing and frustrating. I get they're in the middle of all these changes, but I don't want to buy stuff if I don't know where I stand as a rewards member.

Anyway... There's now a cord blazer and pants but ummmm... Not really what I was looking for. Like just plain boot cut or trouser cut please. And a less boxy oversized blazer. :(

    1. I think you can call to use your birthday code on top of the other one. That's what I did last year.

    2. Miss JR, I have a Sept birthday reward too and when I saw the current 25% was being automatically applied, I thought the same thing: "good! I can stack my bday code!". When I tried, it said I needed to have correct payment first (use JC card to pay), so I went to the checkout page (they had the 25% off there), then entered my code in the promo box on that page and it worked. then I didn't place the order, haha. I was going to try the academy mules, but with only 2 reviews, I'm just not sure yet..

    3. I don't know what 25% off you guys are seeing automatically. My rewards show up but no additional discount other than 30 off some full price stuff.

    4. Suz, I got an email yesterday AM that said "exclusive offer on new arrivals, log in to see what it is" etc. I clicked on the link in the email and I SWEAR it said 30% off everything, automatically applied. I thought "nah, I didn't want the stuff yesterday at 40% off, why would I go for 30%", but then when I looked later it was 25% off (and still is). See if you got the email and make sure you are logged into your account on the site. When I wasn't logged in on the site, the automatic 25% off did not show up.

Here is the email I got

    5. That's weird. I don't seem to have received it and it's not coming off for me even after I log in.

    6. I received an email yesterday with a 30% off one time use code. The code is listed, but when I clicked through the email and attempted to use it to check out, it was automatically applied and said "30% off select full price styles with J. Crew Rewards". The item I applied it to was the new Academy loafer in leopard. I just did this now to test it.

If anyone is having problems with codes, enter your payment information first, and then try applying the code.

    7. I'm getting the 30% off but not an additional 25 as mentioned above, but maybe it's either or?

  4. Pretty disenchanted about the latest J.Crew offerings. The quality of the cashmere is Factory level at best, not anywhere close to the quality a few years back. I recently purchased the Edged Lace blouse in pink and navy and was pleasantly surprised with quality. Ended up only keeping the pink, because I couldn't justify keeping both.

  5. No reviews and a bit off topic but I agree with others that in looking in my closet I already own versions(of better quality) of many of the fall offerings I’ve seen so far. There really isn’t much I am drawn to anyway. As others stated Point Sur not appealing to me. It really isn’t limited to the crew nothing at other retailers is calling to me either. Hopeful to shop my closet and not really purchase anything until clearance sales in December but I say that every year so we’ll see.

  6. Am wearing suede ankle strap pumps from 2+ years ago and getting compliments left and right today...unfortunately, JC shoes are now horrible. Thank goodness I got a lot of them in years past. This is really sad for me, but I will probably get rid of my JC card in the next several months (I actually have a credit on it now, so need to find something to buy before doing that!)

  7. For my Canadian friends, JC’s IG said new catalog would be available in store.

  8. I love my new Juliette sweater-blazer. It is flattering and the perfect weight, a great alternative to a traditional blazer and a little more stylish than the regular sweater- blazer. It’s a simple design but it has a bit odd structure so it doesn’t look sloppy or matronly. Runs large so I was glad I sized down. Thanks to Ina for the review and reco. Its a keeper.

  9. Friends - how many Liberty shirts is "too many", in one's closet? The navy floral this season is just too cute...asking for a friend :)

    1. I agree with @Sega61. I Purchased four Liberty tops towards the end of the summer when they got marked down. Honestly they were the only things I didn’t return all summer. Two were blouses and two were button downs so I felt justified in my purchase. The shirts keep getting thinner and I don’t know how much longer they will be around either. I say if you will wear it go for it.

    2. My liberty shirts are my favorite. I wear them all the time. They're actually kind of my signature. I don't think one can have too much liberty print!!

    3. I love the Liberty prints! In addition to the JC shirts, I also buy the Liberty collab stuff from Anthropologie - a chair and some dishes. I also have a set of bowls from the Liberty x Target collab, and a top from the Liberty x Uniqlo collab. I don't think you can ever have too many Liberty prints!

    4. Agree with everyone - if you like it, buy it. I'm still kicking myself for the Liberty shirts I've passed on. The prints make me happy!

    5. Too many Liberty shirts? Is that possible? Just in case, I'm not going to admit how many I have, but it's a lot.

    6. Thank you everyone for your response! You've enabled me - I mean, allowed me to keep my latest Liberty shirt purchase. It's true - I wear all of them pretty regularly - it helps when I purchase them on sale. Glad to see I'm not the only Liberty fan!

  10. These are wardrobe staples to me. They never go out of style and at some point, J Crew's "fast fashion" approach will likely eliminate these IMHO. So buy them now while they are still available. I added one this fall too.
