Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Wondering about the difference in the material used in two shirts: G9680 (boyfriend button-up shirt in peri) vs. H6524 (slim perfect shirt in end-on-end cotton). The boyfriend shirt is described in the write-up as cotton poplin. Is cotton poplin different from end-on-end cotton? I think I know what sort of texture to expect when they describe it as "cotton poplin", but what is "end-on-end cotton"?

In terms of fit - my understanding has always been that "the perfect" shirt is slimmest, next comes boy, then comes boyfriend. Would people agree?

    Thanks!

    1. End-on-end cotton is very similar to poplin in weight, there is a slight difference in the weave that makes it look slightly heathered as coloured threads are alternated with light ones. Chambray is a type of end-on-end cotton. Poplin, which is standard in men’s dress shirts, may be slightly ‘crisper’ but really it’s more about colour intensity.

  2. Since jcrew is bringing back favorites can I ask for the Sloans to come back? I wear a pair most days of the week for work and now several years later they are on their way out. eBay doesn’t offer a whole lot. Pretty please jcrew?

    1. Liz - Factory has a few similar “sloan” type shoes, if you need basic colors to get you through! But I agree - I love the sloans. I’ve been wearing mine sparingly to try and prolong their life!

    2. Another Sloan lover here! I have five pairs and wish I would have gotten more colors. I do have a factory pair and they are ok but it nearly as comfortable. I look on eBay too but not many pairs to be found and sonetimes the price is ridiculous.

    3. Totally agree with you, Jess! The factory ones aren’t quite the same, I’d much prefer the originals.

    4. Agreed! The Sloans were great!

    1. I found a few hints for the next rollout. Everyday cashmere will be in every store starting at $98. Juliette sweater blazer (cascading open front).
City tee collection (from the favorite cities),velvet tank will be back and the cheetah faux fur coat too. New bag collection (Harper) designed by new designer: classic gold detailing and italian leather. Comes in mini and big satchel (i think there will be a leapard choice too).

    4. There is another NYC tee shirt, navy with black writing. Lots of roll neck sweaters. Tons of stripe tees. More faux fur vests. More tapered penny loafers than previously offered, in black, oxblood, and I believe leopard with black trim. A short cropped cheetah coat also.

    6. I went by Brookfield tonight for returns. Lots of pops of yellow, like a mustard but brighter. Loved it. Cotton rollnecks in a rainbow of colors including two speckled ones, I like them much better than the colors from last year. There was a blue faux fur cropped coat that I couldn’t stop touching. Saw a new satchel style bag and a small rectangular (classic style) handbag in half leopard calf hair /half leather - too small for practical use but very cute. Boiled wool topcoat in three colors, and a gold ochre velvet skirt (elastic waist pencil shape). I’d love more jewel tones but this is a good start for fall!

  4. Got six emails from J Crew today thanking me for picking up my (six) orders at the Tampa store. Which I did: two weeks ago ! Apparently the order tracking system still has some hick ups.

    6. ruffles, you’re most welcome. Check your mailbox today, I suspect the Style Guide will be in it:) if not, by Monday. There are some very nice items, bags and coats look nice. The Lurex coat at least one of them has yellow, pink and I believe navy and the bags look very pretty. Cashmere is the same old Everyday stuff but with patterns and we all know it’s nothing compared to the “old collection cashmere” quality. I would pay more to have a much nicer gauge.

      Delete
    7. @lynn do you prefer a 14 or a 12 gauge cashmere? I recently bought the tie-neck sweater and the color block cardigan and I would say they’re a 14 gauge cashmere, was pleasantly surprised by the quality. Also bought the stripe sweater (sale) which is a 12 gauge, I would guess (miss the detailed descriptions of yore). It feels a bit ‘rougher’

      Delete
    8. @fleurdelys, I should have been more specific. Years ago when I started purchasing JCRew cashmere items they were very soft and they indicated to me it was a 14 gauge. They never revealed what the ply was in the cashmere which is more important. They were very soft and well made but I wondered if these might have even been a mixed blend of cashmere threads. The recent Everday sweaters,I have no idea what the ply is or the gauge is but I have returned what I purchased because they were very rough and scratchy. I have the striped sweater which you purchased and also in the cardigan. Granted these are soft as are the old featherweight and classic line which I love and purchased because of their colors. No one could touch JCRew’s colors. I considered the tie-neck sweater but after reading reviews and the specifics I thought it would be too short on me as I am fairly tall 5’71/2.
Happy you found a sweater that is a good fit and appreciate your feedback on this sweater. Last of all with the price point on the Everday line whether they have an image or not woven into them is ok and better on sale for those who wish to purchase them.
They’re not the best quality but not the worst either. I don’t know if you are familiar with Loro Piano Italian cashmere but they are one of the best cashmere that money can buy. Very expensive however, they will last a lifetime. I must admit though JCRew’s Collection from years back has held up whatever the ply or gauge is and I am still able to wear them since 2007.. No pilling, fraying or loose threads. I would repurchase in a heartbeat if they went back to manufacturing these no matter what the gauge or ply.

    9. Loro Piana is one of the best! Definitely worth it if you go for classic colors. Collection cashmere still my favorite for neon pink etc.

  7. I was at two stores this past week; Robson Street and the Park Royal Mall. Sale sections tended to have mainly the two far ends of sizing smalls and XL. But I did score both a secret wash slim shirt in a burgundy and a cotton cashmere pique sweater in the baseball style for 30% off. While a pair of the distressed officer shorts originally $92.50 CDN were on deep discount for $17.50, serious sale.

REally hoped to see the new roll out but sadly that's next week so I'll rely on the internet to scope out that.

  8. For those of you who purchased the new silk Tiger Print blouse or have last years color and are Gucci lovers here, there is a new Gucci Crystal Tiger belt in black that is smashing with either of these blouses. Ok, a little over the top but it looks great. Received a ton of compliments paired with last years color. There is also a floral pattern which is rather interesting.

  9. So annoyed! Currently living abroad and in constant state of J.Crew homesickness. The international shipping process is just something I prefer to avoid ... SO, I ordered a jumpsuit that my family brought yesterday from home in NY during a trip to me and I discovered that the security tag is still attached. Called customer care and I didn't even receive the SLIGHTEST apology. I had to give a suggestions for how to handle the situation - the second time I've had this issue in the last few years and certainly it will not be the last if they continue to be so awful at warehouse oversight. :(

    1. That’s awful. Sorry to hear that. I need to keep a close eye on mine now.

    2. Ugh, that's the worst. Sorry to hear you have to deal with that. I had a run last year where that happened to both my Ann Taylor and Sephora accounts - both where I had credit cards saved on my account. Hopefully you are able to get it resolved quickly.

    3. Thanks ladies. I quickly reported my card as stolen and called CS. They’ve put a fraud alert on that order and hopefully it won’t ship, but since it was an overnighted order she couldn’t stop it from her end. Idk about the e-gift card they sent themselves, hopefully I’ll just get my money back.

I’ve gone to all of my accounts now and have deleted my Saved CC. I never used to keep them saved until recently and this is a good reminder of why I didn’t.

    4. I hope it all works out. Such a hassle (went through this a year ago with my debit card). Ugh.

    5. Thanks Liz. CS has been super amazing. Things will be taken care of. It is a hassle. I’m bummed because I am going shopping later this week with my SIL and was hopeful to make a purchase on my card - obviously now I can’t. It will work out in the end but it’s just an annoyance right now.

  11. Some new things are slowly trickling onto the website. A cheetah intarsia tippi and the leopard collar tippi. You can see the leopard skirt when looking at the silk button down. It looks like a longer length skirt so I have high hopes for this one!
