J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I've reviewed the Lanie stacked-heel on my blog. I love the fit, the leather upper and lining is great and the heel is very comfortable. Only con is the height, it felt higher than 4 inches but that may just be my impression

  5. I am very disappointed in two J. Crew pieces, the Minnie pants and the Schoolboy blazer. Both have started to pill on me, and the blazer especially makes me sad. This was very expensive and the fact that it has pilled makes me question J. Crew quality (though I bought it about three years ago). I wouldn't expect either piece to pill, and wondered if anyone else had the same experience.

  9. Just received the new camo shirt. It runs large in my opinion. I usually wear a size 6 in the perfect shirt but sized down to a 4 in this. I also received the turner pants in hidden floral, which I took in my normal size 4 for a slouchy fit. Can't wait for the rollout next week. Does anyone have any sneak peaks!?

    1. Agree with ADMD to size down in the camo shirt and in the Turner pant i took my regular petite size. I am usually a 0 in pants and took the petite 2 for a slouchy fit.

  10. Also, I noticed there were some new items added to the nowandlater sale. The sleeveless silk blouse in all colors, the heart sleeveless silk blouse, and the asymmetric zip sweater. I have the sleeveless silk blouse in burgundy and the asymmetric zip sweater in the heather dusk--I would recommend both!

    2. I took a size 4 in the sleeveless blouse (sized down) and a size small in the sweater (I usually wear a medium in the tippi sweater)

  11. OT - Just put up a few a few more Ann Taylor dress reviews. There's a polka dot one that's especially cute and I think some JCAs would like.

  12. Today I got the Endless shirt in white and the Military Shirtdress. I've gotta say that I LOVE the Endless shirt! I've read it's probably best for flat chested tall women but I am neither of these. I am 5'2" and wear a 34 DDD. I usually wear a size 12 but I did size up because I have large upper arms. I almost always size up and have it taken in but I don't think I'll do it this time. I like that the cuffs are a different material and I especially appreciate the stretchy material. I can't wait to wear it with my Pixies or skinny jeans.
Another love for me was the Military Shirtdress. I bought the 12 and 14 to try and the 12 was big enough in the body but uncomfortable in the arms for me. The 14 didn't look bad but I would have it taken in. Sadly one arm fit will but the other was made almost an inch smaller. Bummer that I have to send it back because I can see it being a staple item this fall. I wish they were not all sold out!
I also got a pair of New Balance 620s. I love the look of them and that they are so comfortable makes them my favorite shoe at the moment. They served me well during my recent trip to NYC. I did size down half a size.

  14. I tried on some Factory items recently.

The Gigi pant and the Leather-Stripe Gigi pant were both nice. I have not ever bought the Pixie pants because the high/tight/scratchy waistband was uncomfortable on me. I would wear either of these Gigi pants, though. The Leather-Stripe ones were more comfortable because they don't have a waistband. I wish the regular Gigi pants had that waist style. The regular Gigi pants had an inset waistband that was wide and comfortable. The Leather-Stripe Gigi pants stopped right above my ankle; the regular Gigi pants were longer. I sized down in the regular Gigi pants but not in the Leather-Stripe Gigi pants. Maybe I could have also sized down in those, but the leather panels were not my style so I didn't try another size for fit purposes. Overall both of these ran larger than I expected. I bought the regular ones. They can be a bit bunchy at the bottom if you are shorter like me. Nothing that couldn't be fixed with a hem, although the length was better when I went down a size.

The Funnelneck Sweatshirt is fantastic and just like last year's as far as I can tell. Pockets! The Acropolis Blue color is new this year. My regular size fit, but I like it slouchier and layered so I went up a size. It's probably too big but I don't care. It probably runs TTS, maybe a bit big.

Tried on the Geometric Graphic Merino sweater, but did not love. Nothing wrong with it, I guess it just didn't do anything for me. I thought the retail one was nicer. Also tried on the three-quarter-sleeve tipped Peter Pan collar tee. It was nice, not my style though.

I saw the pocket tunics but did not try on. Could not tell if the pockets were leather or pleather. The web site didn't say.

I saw all the horse things (except the shoes) and they all looked nice. I'm not into horses, but if I were I would be in heaven with this rollout.

There are still jewels on shirts and sweaters and sweatshirts. Wasn't wowed by the jewelry. The Addie printed loafers (black and tan stripe) were nice and I liked the camo Addies too. Didn't see any winter coats.

There were no herringbone excursion vests. Sizes are gone in some colors (burgundy color), but there were plenty of black and navy, some bisque and some camo.

  15. Just got my package from the 40% off sale and love the Collection Peach Tweed pencil skirt (A6811). It is a lovely beige/peach, with cream and silver thread woven through. Subdued but the silver gives it some punch. I never look in Collection but have been so disappointed in the past few years with the lack of beautiful/unique prints for pencil skirts. I got it in petite in my usual pencil skirt size of 4, it is a perfect fit. It netted $59.99 and was not final sale. Other items were staples, tippi and tee shirt, still waiting for my pearl cluster necklace. It was shipped from a store I guess and was last seen in Secaucus, NJ on 8/12. I hope it makes it.

  16. That skirt sounds gorgeous and I will check it out. Don't give up on your necklace yet. I ordered the gemstone print mini & it arrived 21 days after I placed the order. Crazy!
