Diane Kruger Hearts J.Crew Too!

Actress Diane Kruger was spotted in Manhatten wearing J.Crew recently. There was quite a bit of press about it too!

"Thanks!" to Raina (of the lovely "If The Lamp Shade Fits" blog) who let us know about its coverage at the Style File Blog (click here). "Thanks!" to Ashley (in this post) who let us know about its coverage over at Fab Sugar (click here).

As Diane Kruger was attending a Fox TV event in NYC this past Tuesday, she was sporting J.Crew's Cashmere V-neck Cardigan (Item 21842; $158.00) in Fuchsia tucked into her Surf Tweed Charter Skirt (Item 26009; $138.00). The outfit was topped off with J.Crew's Studded Bar-Car Belt (Item 26763; $38.00).

Honestly, I would never put those three items together. Never. With that said, the outfit looks really chic on Ms. Kruger (and probably only on her!) ;)

So let's go back to the skirt for a second. The skirt has waistline shirring that makes it sit above (& outward at) the waist. I am not so sure about this trend. It looks like the skirt does not fit properly and your forced to wear a belt, when in fact that is the style. Maybe I will get use to this over some time, just like I did about rolling-up tapered pant legs. But then again, maybe I won't. ;)

What are your thoughts on her outfit?
Do you like the color combination? Do you like the style of the waistline shirring on the skirt?

  1. I'm more bothered that the skirt is so mini that I'd have to wear shorts under it.

P.S. Thanks for the link love!

  2. I'm intense obsessed with the skirt. It fits much like the other charter skirt (that I own in green).
I will definitely be purchasing this skirt.

  3. I love this skirt. I haven't seen it in store yet but I do have the Linen Charter skirt in light flax and black and wear them constantly! I think it's very flattering on if you like mini skirts.

  4. I like the look of the skirt but not for me (waaay too short!). Usually I like what Diane Kruger wears, but in this case I don't like the sweater with the skirt. The colour combination bothers me.

  5. I don't like her outfit at all. I do think the skirt is cute, but wish they had made it longer.

  6. Maybe it's a preference thing, but I love this style, and used to fabricate the look years ago w/my own short skirts (cinching a full skirt with a belt.)---I have the Charter skirt in blk and love it with flats :)

  7. Two of my favorite colors that just look awful put together! Yikes. My poor eyes this morning:)
I like the skirt but would never buy it. Too short. A slight breeze and poof!

  8. I don't think this outfit is at all flattering on her. The pieces individually are fine, not as an outfit.

  9. I'm biased because I own the skirt, but it is cute and I've gotten so many compliments from wearing it! I do agree though that it is a tad short. This is when being almost 5'4 works in one's favor :)

  10. It does look cute on Diane but not really my style. It's a lovely skirt but I too wish it was a couple more inches longer.

  11. I like that the sweater is worn tucked in like a shirt. Cashmere feels so good against your skin. Plus her shoes are soooo cute!

  12. I love Diane's style and I think the outfit looks cute on her. She has a habit of playing around with textures and colors (when she's not head to toe in Chanel). To me, colors that aren't always paired together, are refreshing.

Tippy of trés tippy owns the skirt and she styled it with a gingham shirt... very lovely and carefree.

    Have a great morning everyone!

  13. Yes, playing with color can be fun and trying different combos out...but to me this is really glaring and not a pretty combo at all.

The skirt is such a pretty color but WAY to short for a 5'10" gal like me. Miss the old days of wearable JCRew full skirt:(

  15. I don't really like the short-skirt-with-gathered-waist look. I'd be too worried about cheek-to-chair contact when sitting down. Also, am I the only one who sees her *nips* in this photo? Sorry, but that always freaks me out when women go out like that. I would die of embarassment if that were me!

  17. Fuschia and green - channeling my mother circa 1980's photographs. My mom had great style and still knows how to dress like an icon.

I recently wore fine gauge cashmere for the first time and loved it against my skin in warm weather. The colors here are gorgeous and she looks fab. I'll have to get over the retro-ish-ness of it all and try it out because I love it.

  18. I agree with Tres Tippy that the skirt is too short for most people, I'm 5'4 1/2 and the length of the Charter skirts is just perfect on me.

  19. I have this skirt and I am 5'7". I sized up to 8 from my usual 2 or 4.
This way the skirt sits on my low hip (I'm have small hips, so the added volume works for me) and the hem falls about two-three inches above my knee. There is about an inch and a half you can lengthen it in the hem. I contemplated having it altered but decided to leave it for now. I like the shirred waist. But you can easily saw it to the band to make it flat. I think I could do it and I am pretty bad with the needle. The tweed fabric will be your advantage to hide the stitches. I use a skinny belt with it, even if I am wearing in low on my hips. I really like the look, slouchy with tweed, very cool. I wear it with ballet flats, but it would also look great with oxfords, imo. Pockets are great, imo placed even better when I wear it lower. The color and tweed fabric on this skirt is TDF. One of my favorites this season!
