Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I dropped by Rockefeller Center on Sat night to try on pants for sizing in prep for Black Friday. I have the four-season Camerons in my regular non-petite size and they’ve become my go to pants this year, so hoping to pick up a few more pairs soon. I tried on the high-rise version and they looked totally dowdy. The store didn’t have the other Cameron styles to try. Anyone have thoughts on the ponte style or the full length (vs the regular Camerons in Tall)?
(I got the regular length this summer and even though I’m 5’1 they’re slightly too short to wear with booties, so hoping to get a longer length for winter wear)

  2. Hi eeps! I am also a lover of four season Camerons. I am only 5'4" but long limbed and they are definitely cropped on me. I already retired them until the spring (I'm in NJ). I actually ordered the full length Camerons hoping to wear them with boots, specifically J Crew's cap toe bootie from this season, and it did not work for me at all. I only tried them on once but couldn't get them off fast enough. The length was too long around the boot and I didn't think they would look great hemmed either. I tried my regular size and one up in case I wanted them less fitted.

What I have been wearing as an alterative is the Banana Republic Ryan pant. They look great with flats AND with boots IMO. I have black and plaid and both machine wash beautifully. I buy the 0 short and they are baggier than my usual 0 in Camerons, but not sloppy. I would like to try a 00 but haven't seen them offered, but the 0 works great with a belt.

Sorry to be so long winded!

    1. I can't seem to get the Camerons to work for me but I will +1 the BR Ryan pants - I have them in the wool and the stretch and both wash beautifully. I haven't tried to get the Crew ones to work because I've had enough luck with BR.

    2. I like the cotton stretch the best.... they little cold for the winter.... but best for the fit.... I have 4 season ones that I love. Got the full length for my daughter who is 5.9 and she likes them... also got her tall plaid ones that she likes.... them thinking about the black in cotton stretch with promo...

    3. Thanks for the BR rec! I used to wear BR sloanes in short but my butt literally got too big for them. Do the Ryans have a little stretch?
I actually thought the 4-season Camerons were too hot to wear in the summer, but nice and toasty for right now in NYC.

  3. Does anyone know why the Garment Dyed Sweatshirts are excluded from all promos? Wanted to get a couple for my niece and don't understand these promo games. https://www.jcrew.com/p/womens_category/sweatshirts_sweatpants/pullovers/garmentdyed-crewneck-sweatshirt/K3152?color_name=intense-pink

  4. No visit for me, I do have to try and get to the store for a few returns but not sure it will happen before I head out of town Wednesday for the holiday. I did order a few sweaters this morning - the Point Sur alpaca blend sweater in grey which has good reviews as well as the everyday cashmere crewneck in camel. Already going back on my statement of not buying blend sweaters but we'll see how the quality seems. Both were eligible for the 40% off and I had some rewards.

    2. I know - I wanted to get the pretty orchid one. Maybe on Friday it will be included, fingers crossed!

    3. I bought the puff-sleeve turtleneck sweaters and immediately returned them after one JCA commented that the material blends won't hold up and they will probably be stretched out within a year. I tried the sweaters again and felt the disappointment as I pulled it over my head. Love the sweaters but knew she was right even before her comment. One of the reasons that I come here!!!

    4. I didn't check the tag, is it a blend? The website said MERINO. checking now!!!

    5. The balloon sleeve turtlenecks are merino, I just checked the tag. Maybe you're talking about a different sweater?

    6. @Kate the long sleeve everyday cashmere crewneck is excluded but the 3/4 sleeve one is included (makes NO sense). I bought the 3/4 sleeve one.

I need to check which blends work well and remember it - I have a few ivory sweaters from last year that vary from it looks like complete crap after a few wears and a few that are still in pretty good shape and I wear regularly.

As an aside, I've washed my merino turtleneck several times and it's held up beautifully. I've worn it several times already.

    7. The promo games are going to cause me to not order anything at all.

    8. Suz Has, it is merino but I just didn't feel like it would hold up. Maybe I will try again with the 60% off.

  5. I wanted to try a few things but website isn't working right for me. I like the wide leg pants with tux stripe and wonder if that would be better than the satin ones. I'm going to try thesatin ones on with my Parke tartan blazer with satin lapel and see how they work. Otherwise I think I'll return them.

  6. In contrast to my negative experience with the J. Crew event this weekend (posted in yesterday's thread, SAs being inconsistent and weirdly secretive telling different customers different things about the promo), I also went to Madewell. The store was hopping- very crowded though the store footprint is also smaller. The SAs were very friendly, calm, quick getting me shoes to try on, triaging the limited fitting rooms very well. They were prepared for the chaos and I was impressed. I walked out with the Etta pumps in black, even though I consider suede "high maintenance"- love the updated sillhouette and they were comfy right out of the box.

    1. Alyssa, I’m glad you had a good experience at Madewell! I have been shopping there a lot more lately, and I just found out they are finally opening a store near me! The Etta pumps look nice and I might could handle that heel height. I wore some Madewell shoes for the first time last night (the Sophia Fold-Down flats) and they were so comfortable!

  8. I went...And had an ALMOST-Great experience! Traveled down to Georgetown because supposedly they were the only store in the DC/DM/VA area that had the camo sweater in my size (and in store is cheaper than online). Once I got there, I found out that it was 60% sale in store (w/FS) but I forgot my 15% coupon and the SA would not share. I also found a great black blazer (as if I needed another black blazer!) at an extra great price with the add'l 60%, although I am certain that it was mismarked but I am happy to take it off the store's hands! Happy Early Thanksgiving and good luck with your holiday bargains from Black Friday, Small Biz Sat and Cyber Monday

    1. Sounds like a fully great time. Enjoy the blazer. I came home with the embellished perfect shirt and think it is adorable plus a great fit.

  10. I stopped by Short Hills to make my returns. Very gracious assoc helped at the register, I complimented her outfit and she kind of chuckled when she returned three of some items because i ordered multiple sizes. Etc.
I asked if sale was still on sale and she said it was 40 off. I asked specifically if it was 60 like the previous day which I couldn't make, and she said that was a special event. There wasn't much I wanted in the sale section in store anyway, but 60% off may have made me bite, but instead it's one less thing taking up space and money in my pocket.

I noticed a very cute black fair aisle sweater with rhinestones, comes in a few other colors. The black already had some ivory lint (unless that's part of the design) and I checked, it's a blend. Too bad, I loved it. If it goes on sale enough I will bite as it's a few times per season wear item.

Madewell was 30% off sale but the way the jeans are hung up it's really difficult to look through. I tried on a pair of ankle cowboy boots and they ran huge. Really adorable but a little wide on the ankle. I'm going to check online and see if they come in other colors. All I saw was a goldfish tan color and an ivory that had a hint of pink.

I ended up returning the satin crepe pants. My wide leg wool pants from a few seasons ago (I cropped a pair and ordered a full length pair this summer) are more flattering.

Also I tried the bright cerise penny sandals on with my bright cerise lace pants from last winter and they look great together. I ordered the red cotton shaker sweater from the gap hoping it will match for a totally monochromatic red look. (I'll prob wear a button down underneath to break it up a bit).

  12. Update to emailing for extra 15% off after CARDPERKS was accepted but not applied - in addition to VIP 40% code. Received a very nice reply and they adjusted the order total as it has not yet shipped.

  14. Stopped in to my local store on Saturday to make a return. I missed a charity event they hosted the week prior (so glad they've started doing more in-store events to get some traffic and even better that they benefit local charities!). I was greeted (by name) immediately by the manager, which makes me disappointed that so many here are having bad in store experiences. It really does make or break an in-store purchase in my opinion.

I returned the velvet leggings in a medium in black. I'm around a size 6, but didn't want them skin tight when I ordered. Unfortunately the medium was too big as the leggings are thinner than I expected and lack the "Spanx" thickness/tightness that I was anticipating.

I kept the crepe blazer in the red color in a medium. I know, it's not lined, but I got it for under $30 and find the trim to be appealing. I think it looks super cute over some of my velvet tees from other retailers especially for impending holiday parties.

I also kept black piped loafers (a classic) that seemed true to size and the suede block heel sandals in the golden color (also true to size if not just barely larger than size). And FYI the "Any Day Pant in Ponte" still have Pixie tags inside them.

I ordered the Boyfriend Utility Shirt in pink yesterday and emailed them to apply the in-store promo on sale merchandise at 60% off. They emailed back today with an adjustment.

  15. Just a quick comment on the awesomeness of JC Customer Service, when I have an issue I always say goodbye with a good and often better-than-good solution! They are so well trained to help never question the client.
