  1. We're having a cold spell here on the Gulf Coast this week. I'm enjoying it because I can wear all the wonderful sweaters I bought on sale late last winter. Today I'm wearing my black ribbed turtleneck in Italian cashmere. It's so warm and soft and it fits great. I have the same sweater in camel. They were a steal at $62.

I also wore my much loved black Lexington blazer again today. I have it in 3 colors and I never get tired of them. After losing a few pounds earlier in the year, I can comfortably layer them over a sweaters or hoodie, which makes me so happy. Honestly, I wouldn't mind adding other colors, if I found them at a reasonable price on Ebay or Poshmark, but I never manage to catch it in my size.

    1. Do I remember you worrying about never being able to wear your new sweaters last winter? Now you show your foresight! I wish I had the black t-neck for today.

    2. p banos, yes I bought several very nice sweaters at great prices in the late winter/early spring, when it was already starting to warm up here in the south. I’m finally getting a chance to enjoy them!

    3. Hey--me too! What I look forward to most of all here on Longboat Key is the few weeks of "cold" weather every season where I have a reason to wear all of my J.Crew cardigans and--if it REALLY gets cold into the low 50s--my wool J.Crew pullover sweaters!

  2. Is Jim Brett trying to kill J.Crew! I had high hopes for this guy and he decided to deliver more synthetic fabrics to the table while keeping the prices high. While selling factory merchandise at the main J.Crew store/website. Sure J.Crew is not Gucci, but that is not the point. Having a runway show every year brings buzz and publicity. It's what keeps the kids talking and excited regardless if the pieces might be subpar. Also it's sad to see The Liquor Store close down at Broadway, New York next year. And don't get me started with NeverEven because I can't even!

  3. Their product description is so deceptive - hard to shop online when there is no accurate information. I took advantage of the recent 35% off and bought a pair of house slippers and one seed stitch beanie for my godson. The website lists the slippers as having a rubber sole, but in reality the outsole is 100% synthetic. They also listed the beanie as “wool”, but there is only 3% wool, and five other materials -including a mysterious “other”, in this blend. I submitted online reviews for both items, and hope they get published. I wonder why I even bother with J. Crew.

  4. I asked CS a few weeks ago why they got rid of the Tall section of the website and I was told if I want to find tall sizes for women to just use their filter. I also praised the coupons in the catalog and thick paper, but it really seemed like an LL Bean or Land's End catalog. I have nothing against both companies, but J. Crew is supposed to be different. The response I got from CS didn't address the latter comment. I also hope they don't abandon using models.

I was in the store last weekend and I have to say I'm really grateful I started shopping there in the year 2000 because the store seemed really dull and lifeless. However, there were around 8 or 9 people other than myself in there. The sale section was big but boring and I thought about how I used to struggle with what I could afford vs. what I wanted when I used to tear through the sale section in the past. I'm really grateful to J.Crew for the team effort during those 10 years when I could barely pull myself away from the sale section. I also asked about Collection since there are very few Collection items and I was told that it's not going away, but who knows? Sometimes sales assistants aren't the most informed unfortunately.

Finally, their print game is really off. I really don't know what's going on there. After all these years of wanting more tall sizes or more free shipping, I get free shipping as a cardholder but now it doesn't seem worth it because the merchandise is so uninteresting.
