Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Got an e-mail that my local store is hosting a pre-Black Friday event on Saturday morning with 40-50% off items in store plus snacks. I have a return and might check it out, seems like a lot of retailers are trying to make Black Friday an entire week so the mall is bound to be busy.

    1. Actually it was Sunday, I was distracted by the spelling error in the message heading...

    2. Will stop in on Sunday since I received Madewell email with an event from 9 am to 11 am for 25% off. It’s called Shop BFF (Black Friday Forever). Limited edition pouch with every purchase & other goodies plus more freebies @ $150 and $500. j Crew stores currently have 30% off full price and 40% off sale. No mention of FS when I called. Will check it out tomorrow since it’s the last day for catalog coupons.

    3. So when is the next roll-out going to be online, this Monday? I was hoping to see all the gold, glitter, tartan, and black plaid merchandise rolled out last Monday. Instead they rolled out that nevernever stuff (yuck), lol. And now they're doing this event w/out the holiday merchandise I've been seeing on Kristy's IG account.
Do any of your stores carry it already?

    4. @JSR, I heard more “gifts” are rolling out this week so I assume Mon or Tues. I wonder if the Black Friday promo will include new arrivals, I hope so. The signature tartan still needs to come out too although I saw an excursion vest online (can’t find it today but saw it the other day) in “signature tartan” which looked like the Stewart plaid but with some pinkish lines running through it.

    5. Rollout is this week and it will be the seasonal clothes like tartan

  2. I received an email too for Sunday - 50% off sale and 40% off regular price. Sadly my closest store will be closing so I don’t think I’ll be able to go. The email I received was for a diff store that’s far away. It said am only.

    3. Don’t know if it’s different by store by I’m at the Rockefeller store now and the SAs are saying it will be 9am-12pm, Sunday, 40% off FP and 60% off sale (!).

    4. Wow, 60% off is great! Wish I could get into a store today. Hope everyone enjoys the event!

    5. Yes this morning we had 40% FP and 60 off sale. Ended at noon

  3. I didn’t notice the adorable bow midi in tartan at factory. I had checked every day for new arrivals but never saw this because it’s only in the gifts section. I just don’t think that’s a good idea but whatever I found it this morning. I added a few Jammie pants to try at $8 a pop. If you remember the bow midi from the summer in gingham and blue stripe, the tartan is the same cut. Can’t wait to get this and wear weekly until Christmas!

I also received the tie neck sweater from retail and it’s a winner. Wore the next day. Not too thick and kept me cool since I run around all day. Also cotton the cotton wrap skirt and it’s a no. Something off about it. It’s too thick I think. The beauty of the silk version is how it flows and hang and the heavy cotton prevents that.

    1. thanks for the update on the skirt and top.I was pondering the skirt ...
what colour did you get in the tie neck top?
Is it sheer? thanks again. hoping for more items in next roll out..next week? Anyone know?

      Delete
    2. Liz, is the tie-neck sweater the cashmere one? I can't remember what you originally posted. I have had my eye on it and it looks like a classic piece! I picked up the 365 tie-neck top recently too which I really like as well.

      Delete
    3. I got the tie neck top in cream (in merino, cashmere would be too hot for work). It’s sheer but I wear a cami under all my cream sweaters anyways. It was very comfortable to wear and I’ll be picking up more colors. It beats a turtleneck I order from Kate Spade. The turtleneck just seemed like it would be way too warm. I run around all day in and out of schools (some of which feel like saunas) so lighter weight options are a must.

    4. how was the sizing in this sweater/top. I think I want the black one. thank you
oh and the cotton wrap skirt you didn't like was it tts? thanks.

      Delete
    5. I think both are true to size. The tie neck top is short but it works for me with high waisted skirts (but I wouldn’t wear with jeans). The skirt is also tts but bulky. I think if you’re small through the hips you could possibly size down.

    5. thank you. I usually get the email/invites. but not this one. maybe I am on the naughty list because of so many returns. thanks for the info. I will call store today to see if Robson or Pacific centre are doing this. Hate to go downtown pay for parking and be left waiting out tin the cold. last year only Pacific centre had this event. I did go...I enjoyed it.

    6. do you think I can attend even though I did not receive an email invite ? thanks.

    7. I think you can go. I checked the email and there was nothing that said it was "exclusive" or that you had to show the email or a code or anything like that....and who are they to turn away potential sales at this point! I may go as well if it is at the Robson street store.

    8. For Vancouverites. Park Royal store also said they will have the Sunday event. Sale section jammed, lots of viscose/modal dark coloured tops - nothing standing out to entice me back. Hardly any sale shoes.

I received recent event emails but not this one.

  7. I received a postcard from a Factory store over an hour away and in a different state, announcing early access to a 60% off in store promo on Black Friday. I don’t shop there, but good to know that is likely what their BF deal is going to be.

  9. Talbots Black Friday deal is 50% off one item per day all next weekend and they will have a new Black Watch capsule w black velvet trim in stores. I don’t shop there much but I have to say, their holiday catalog perfectly nailed “Holiday Preppy with a Twist.” The colors, patterns, and outfit inspiration reminded me of the very best of J Crew.

    2. https://www.businessoffashion.com/articles/news-analysis/j-crew-ceo-jim-brett-is-leaving-the-company

The quote in there is very interesting...if Brett was going for more femininity in designs, then where were they?! The camo he decried was still very prominent this fall and everything is shapeless and androgynous and very Madewell, and there is a notable lack of "pretty" prints and the color that J. Crew used to do so well. I don't think that "feminine" details were things Jenna neglected, and I don't think that they were something the brand did well under Brett. Can we please hire a women's head of design again that has a clear vision? Preferably one that appreciates the finer details of tailoring (bring back darts! Appropriate top lengths!) and color/print?

      Delete
    3. What a mess. They cannot decide on a vision. I will say, J. Crew was never twee but it was always feminine and I think there's a sizable minority - if not majority - of customers who desire that element.

      Delete
    4. Yep, definitely cause for concern, but not a surprise. During his tenure other corporate-level folks also exited & morale was suffering. So, the brand continues to struggle because of leadership. Good news is the debt payment isn’t due until 2021. Still cheering for JC to figure it out because the brand is still my “go to” choice,

      Delete
    5. Came to see if this was posted yet! For what it's worth I have three close friends that work at the corporate offices and despite the press reports, Brett was well-liked. He is very business savvy and knows fashion well. It's sad that he won't get credit for the next few quarters where his hand will be felt more. Morale was low because the company is under a tremendous amount of debt and many at the company miss Jenna Lyons. (Though I also think they realize it was time for her to do her own thing, as her style evolved past what J. Crew is.)

Also J. Crew does have a female head of women's design, Johanna Uurasjarvi who worked with Brett at West Elm and also at Anthropologie, where she was the creator of the Leifsdottir line.

      Delete
    6. Alyssa, I completely agree w/you that Brett’s perception of J Crew’s “femininity” in its styles was way off. The company has veered so far off of what made it great and that’s why I think this news is a very good thing. He may be another merchant prince, I don’t know, but it wasn’t a good fit - it happens. It shows that mgmt recognized that they and Brett did not have the same vision of the future. They were decisive about it and they are not giving
up. I am more optimistic than if he has stayed.

      Delete
    7. Interesting read, @Alyssa, yes where was this more feminine clothing that celebrates women? Maybe we will see it in the spring. Still hopeful that Johanna Uurasjarvi will bring something to the table as an Anthro lover. IMO J Crew has been its worst ever in the past 6 mo, not sure whose tenue this falls under but let's hope thing shape up soon.

      Delete
    8. @Alyssa - I completely agree with you. Case in point: Nevereven line. Nothing could be less feminine than these baggy, oversized, shapeless "garments"

  12. For those who remember my issue with the high waisted wide leg pants in satin crepe, with the pockets gapping, I ordered two more to try in the same 0 and the size 2. The size two was a little loose and still had the same issue. The second pair of the 0 was a little better than the first. I think there's too much fabric on the pocket Edge so they don't lie flat. I'm sure a seamstress could fix it or I could try tacking it down with a little stitch or two. I just might live with it, though of course I'm hoping they get further reduced.

I have returns but am working on some house projects this weekend so won't get to the store. Maybe Monday.

  15. Just came back from the Chester NJ store. I came home with an embellished perfect shirt K0812. It is a regular perfect shirt with cute gems sewn on. It says dry clean, but I dont see why a gentle hand wash and hang dry will not work. I plan to wear it for the holidays with my Collection velvet blazer in Lichen (green/gold) Thats a lot of bling, but the colors work. They were doing the 60% off sale. 19. I went to my local store today, and the vibe was....weird. I got 1/2 an hour early and all the signage in the store was saying 30% off your total purchase, SAs moving about but clearly not changing any signage. I tapped on the glass and got a we're closed go away gesture, but indicated I had a question. The SA came over, did not open the door, but spoke to me through a tiny crack in between the glass doors. I told her I heard there was an event for 40% off, and asked if that was not happening, given that all the signs said 30% She said it was only for cardholders, but I was welcome to wait until they opened and then "take advantage of some of our other promotions". I figured that couldn't be right, so I decided to wait anyway. Sure enough, when another SA let me in, she confirmed 40% off full price purchases. HOWEVER, when I was in the sale section, I was quoted 40% off sale by someone, but overheard her telling another customer in hushed tones it was 50% off sale. And then yet ANOTHER customer asked about the promo, and another SA quoted her 50% off sale but then asked her if she had a J. Crew card and then was told (again, in whispers) that it was 60% off sale. So multiple different answers from multiple different SAs, and then a very "Hush-hush don't tell the riff-raff" secretive tone that made the whole experience very offputting...it was like a high school clique or something. I was dressed in head-to-toe J. Crew from my earmuffs to my Cece flats and clearly knew about the promo to expect and I did not feel like my knowledge or loyalty to the brand was valued at all. This appeared to be limited to the women's department- I walked off empty handed from the women's floor, went upstairs to the men's floor. The men's SA confirmed the promo was 40 FP/60 sale at full volume on first ask. I had them order me a Collection item that wasn't in-store, where they honored the full price promo at 40% and stacked my extra 15% off without batting an eye.

    1. I hear you. I just used the VIPPERK promo and tried to use the CARDPERKS promo as well. It added both promos but didn't adjust the price by 15%. I placed the order anyway and emailed customer service asking for the extra 15%. We'll see if they give it to me.

    3. I think that they turn CARDPERKS on and off at will, and it's really annoying. I just tried CARDPERKS while signed into my account and got a message that it was "either invalid or expired". Hint JC: it's not a "perk" if it is inactive when cardholders would benefit extra from using it.

  24. I was at the Tyson’s Galleria store today — outside DC.

As usual, the FP section was limited in sizes— just days before a holiday— and the sale section was a shameful mess, which imho devalues the items and the brand.

The merch that was available in sale was further discounted— for instance, loafers that were $101 online were $69.99 minus 40% off .

Nobody told me anything about promos—had an armful of recent rollouts— and

    OF COURSE NOBODY HELPED ME

    NOBODY EVER OFFERS TO HELP

this is always my experience, whether it’s DC, Virginia, NYC, LA

    WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR?

Are all the SAs so new or so temporary that they don’t know how to sell?

I look like I have disposable income

JCREW IS THE ONLY STORE WHERE I NEVER GET HELPED

    Rant over. Thanks for listening.
