Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Shocked that the khaki crop jacket from two roll-outs ago is already on sale, and final.

    1. JSR- I don't like when the new to sale items go directly to final sale either. It makes it really difficult to pull the trigger on something you have not had a chance to try on. I liked it better when there was a category in the sale section that was 50% off and final sale but the rest of the sale items were returnable. I think this makes the most sense and hope they go back to it but who knows.

  2. I wish they'll restock the new collection natural denim pleated skirt, I've been out of the Jcrew loop with wedding planning and missed it the first time around and now they're all sold out of the smaller sizes. :(

    1. Hi julieann - I'd recommend adding your size to your wishlist even if it's out of stock. JC tends to process returns throughout the day and if you keep an eye on your wishlist you'll probably be able to grab it when it pops back. Good luck!

    2. Or bookmark the web address link of the item on to your phone, so you can check it often.

    3. Hopefully it pops back for you soon. Those are good suggestions above. Hope your wedding planning is going well- how exciting!!

    4. Are you referring to the white one with black piping? So disappointed it sold out so quickly

  3. Stopped in yesterday and have new Girl Crush on the woman who was moving through the store muttering "Die, ruffles, die!"

  4. maryeb, silver_lining, and anyone else interested, here is some feedback on my Madewell order that I mentioned in the Reviews thread (it's pretty buried so I'm bringing it up here, hope that's okay).

Pullover Sweater in Elmwood Stripe. This is so cute and I want to keep it, but it didn't look good on me, especially from the back. It is oversized, which I like, and the shoulders are very dropped, which I don't like and the wider stripes exaggerate the dropped shoulders. It is stretchy. The colors are nice in person. I'm on the fence... everything doesn't have to look good, right? lol... I'm thinking about it. I tried it in my regular size Medium and a size up Large. The Large was waaaay too big. The Medium was probably the right size, but still quite wide and slouchy. A Small might have worked but then I think I'd lose more length than I want to lose.

Camden Sweater-Coat in the Heather Caramel color. I really like this. The boiled wool is nice, not too thin and not too thick. I'd call it lightweight. It is unlined, hits right at my knee (I'm 5'4") in a size Small. The Medium was definitely too big in this. I'd say size down. I am usually not a Small but it was the right size in this. I like the patch pockets in front. The sleeves are set in at the shoulders, where they should be! :)

Madewell x Penfield® Lucan Pink Fleece Jacket. I tried this in a Medium and a Large. This is another one that doesn't look awesome on me, it's kind of bulky, but the color makes me so happy that I'll probably keep it. I could have kept the Medium, but it felt a little constricting zipped up. I liked the Large better, even if it is a bit oversized.

Adidas® Superstar Track Pants. Not good on me. Size Medium was probably right in the waist and butt, but the legs were very tight and the material was not stretchy enough for that to be comfortable. I could hardly pull them on. Objectively, if you didn't know how they felt on, you'd probably say they looked fine. But the legs were very constricting. I have slightly large calves but have never had issues with clothes or boots. I think these are just a very slim cut. Maybe a size Large would have worked for me, but I didn't order it to try. They did look cute when I was standing still :)

Placed Plaid Cape Scarf. This is nice. I am not sure the cape scarf style is for me, though. I will probably return this. It just felt a little awkward. I might re-order it some day on sale if the price is right.

So I'm keeping the Penfield pink fleece jacket and the Camden sweater coat.

    1. Thanks for the really helpful, detailed reviews, Cate!

I understand your dilemma related to the Pullover Sweater. I often think about where my ideas of what looks 'good' come from. There's so much judgement, especially with social media. Sometimes I decide to buy and wear an item just because I like it and the critics, in my head and out in the world, be damned.

    2. Hi cate - thanks so much for the review on the sweater coat. I'm glad to hear the shoulders are set in! Madewell's had dropped-shoulder sickness for so long that I'd stopped looking at their sweaters.

    3. maryeb, I know... the sweater feels great on, it's slouchy and stretchy and comfortable and I look twice as wide as I am in it, so what to do? I'll try it on again and then decide

silver_lining, there have been fewer dropped shoulder offerings, I'm glad!

  5. I drove to a store yesterday and there was very little that I liked. But I did ike the ruffle-sleeve sweater in one size down my regular size, I thought that it was a good one to wear without a jacket of with a vest. I liked the grey color the best but I have so many sweaters in that particular JCrew grey. In any case I will wait for promo. Also tried the lame fluted skirt but it looked bad on me (as did the one from last year).Took a picture but the lighting was so bad that you can't even see what I am wearing...

  6. Went to a store yesterday and tried on the rose gold sequin pencil skirt and loved it but don't know where or when to wear it. Also loved the embellished tank and would have purchased if it weren't so short! Online reviewers said they bought it in a tall size but don't see a tall option online. Is it sold out?

    1. Sara, do you mean the hand-embellished floral top? It is available in Tall, but just two sizes left right now.

    2. Yes, that is the top I was referring to. Thanks for your help!

  8. The rugby shirt is finally available on the website. I ordered the smoky olive/champagne stripe to try.
I was in my local store today and they had not received it yet.

    1. Also, despite JCrew referring to this shirt as the "1988" rugby shirt in the style guide and on Facebook and other social media, the product I just ordered on the website is called the "1984" rugby shirt.

      Sigh. Eye roll.

  9. I went to a store yesterday and made a return. Nothing caught my eye and I was a little pressed for time. I did pick up the long awaited September style guide. As I shared on my IG, it is only 36 pages including men's & crewcuts. Last September's style guide was 132 pages.

    1. Wow, what a difference in the size of the style guide. Sad for the September one which traditionally would be more exciting. I can't even get one at all in Canada.

  10. I stopped by Factory today. The new Woodland Floral is a lovely dark Floral that will pair nicely with navy and utility/army green. Very pretty. I would love something in this print but almost everything is that notorious Factory polyester. Doesn't breathe, retains odors.

Did anyone else notice that almost all the new Factory rollout outerwear is crazy short? The Factory versions of the Cocoon, pink herringbone Schoolboy, field jackets all look several inches shorter than retail. Will be fine if you are petite, but the proportions look a little off. I hope there will be some JCA reviews.

    1. Yes to the shortness. I love that floral and they have a "midi" skirt. Over the last few months I've ordered what these so called midi skirts and they have been about 21 inches. Indecent on my 5'10 frame. No way am I trying this one either.

    2. Hi Ruffles - I reviewed the Factory patterned schoolboy blazer at the bottom of Tuesday's review thread. I have a short torso (as in, the bottom of my rib cage and the top of my hipbones are thisclose) and I still thought it was short. Bummer because I thought it was quite cute.

My Factory sweater-blazer came today and ...one shoulder seam is more dropped that the other. /sad trombone

    3. Great reviews, silver_lining! I wish the Patterned Schoolboy was about 3 inches longer, and I am a short-waisted 5'3". Sorry about the sweater-blazer. This Factory rollout has some good ideas but seems to be really missing the mark on execution. What's with the almost-cropped length on those Cocoon coats?

    4. Oh no, silver lining, I'm sorry to hear about the sweater coat. Mine is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. How did you like the material?

    5. Hi Mrs. Garzelloni - I agree with Alyssa's review below. Most of my JC sweater jackets and coats are that milano knit and this one feels like it as well. I like the cotton for something different. Sounds like I got a dud... I'm glad that the crooked shoulders aren't a widespread problem!

    6. I picked one up at the factory store in burgundy. No issues with the shoulders. I was actually pretty impressed with how similar it is to the merino retail version- even with being made of cotton it looks similar and the weight is similar. @silver_lining - I hope they will send you a new one without issues!

  11. I got the sweater blazer also. I'm typically a 2/4/Small in J. Crew tops and in last year's retail merino version of the sweater blazer, I sized all the way down to an XXS for a fairly traditional fitted blazer look. For the Factory version this year, I ordered a size Small, and it's too big, I need the XS. The fabric is very much the same feel of knit/ overall texture of the retail version, just slightly less "hefty" for being cotton vs. merino. Still very solid and substantial though and will keep you plenty warm...the retail version is almost too heavy to comfortably wear inside in my opinion. The only quality niggle I had is that the stitching on the button hole was loose and catching on the button when I fastened it, but my shoulders were even. Hope that helps!

    2. Yes, thanks, I don;t have a factory store, so reviews are really helpful. I was planning on sizing down in the sweater coat, so this helps.

    3. Yay! I'm trying to be more mindful with my purchases, but when I do have the urge to place an order, it's always great when I can find some JCA reviews first. So I'm happy to pass on feedback when I have it to give!

  12. Will JCrew restock their wool pencil skirts? They are out of my sizes in the colors I want.
