Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

    1. Thanks for this, I stopped in today and got a beautiful wool scarf for $23. I tried on a number of other items, but no luck.

  2. For those on the hunt for full length dress pants, I recently discovered the Logan pant at Banana Republic. I bought them in denim but the come in traditional dress pant colors/fabrics as well. They fit a bit big, I could almost make the 10 instead of my usual 12, but I'll probably stick with the 12 as the 10 was a bit tight in the waist.

  3. I just received the 2-in-1 short hooded parka from Gap, which comes in two color ways -- navy with a navy faux fur lined hood, and a military green with a rose faux fur lined hood. Both color ways are very pretty, although the green is much more popular and completely sold out right now, although it does pop back occasionally. The blue is still available in all sizes. It is regularly priced at $198, but Gap has very frequent promotions -- right now it is 40% off.

Sizing is TTS. I am a size 2 or 4 in JC outerwear, and in this coat, I can wear the XS or the S, although I prefer the S -- I prefer this type of coat to be loose fitting.

I was initially drawn to the Gap coat because I had eyed the JC collection down parka in "wasabi" (it doesn't look the color of wasabi at all on my monitor) with a pink faux fur lined hood, but was wary about spending $500 for an item that I might soon tire of... I have not seen the JC coat in person, but even without respect to price, in some ways, I think I prefer the Gap version -- it looks less bulky which for me means it is more wearable, and wrt the green/pink version, the pink faux fur is a softer prettier pink.
