Take 30-50% Off Sale at J.Crew!

"Thanks!" to  many of you, who shared the following promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew is offering 30% off sale, and 50% off Final sale, with promotional code SALESALE. This offer expires May 6, 2014. The fine print includes:

*30% offer valid on the purchase of sale items at jcrew.com. 50% offer valid on the purchase of final sale items listed in the 50% Off Final Sale Styles assortment under the Sale tab at jcrew.com. Offers valid from May 2, 2014, 12:01am ET through May 6, 2014, 11:59pm ET. Offers not valid in J.Crew or J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offers cannot be applied to previous purchases and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. To redeem, enter code SALESALE in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promotional code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offers are subject to change. Final sale items cannot be returned or exchanged.
Some random tidbits: (1) There are some new items that got markdown ... yey! (2) Brick and mortar stores were offering 40% off their Final Sale. I am assuming that is still the case.

(3) The sale section is still overflowing with items from their Fall and Winter seasons. Partly because J.Crew refuses to lower prices. The Jeweled Fair Isle stripe sweater is a great example. It has been priced at $119.99 forever. Just reduce the price and move it out.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, please share!

  2. FYI - I would assume it's a pricing mistake but the Lace-Sleeve Top is marked down to $18.99 online. I couldn't resist with the no final sale and decided to try it.

    1. I saw that too. They are honoring it but it will likely be fixed soon. It is a great price. Gigi did a review of it (item A2179) here

    2. Thanks for linking, Mel!

I posted that deal in the wee hours. I'm surprised it's still up. And it is *still* up at 10:25 EST.

    4. A search on the item number turns up nothing, and if you link to it from Gigi's blog, it says it's all sold out. Guess someone there figured it out! Congrats to all who got a great deal, this is a great top!

  3. Bit on the $12 lace sleeve tee and two other shirts. Does anyone have a review of the Madewell wildfield eyelet dress? I've been looking for an everyday white dress and this could be it but would like more info on sizing and quality since it's final sale. Thanks!

  4. item 09619 hooded basket weave jacket, shouting out some love for this baby. At $60 (which is 50% off but FS) this is a great spring jacket, mid-thigh, slash and patch pockets, hood. I took the XS though typically I wear a 4 in outerwear (wool coats, Icon Trench), and a 2 in blazers,
due to oversize fit. It zips and has buttons. Great for SAHM who need casual but put together, or weekend sporty outfits. I know, I sound like a copywriter, but I haven't found an item I like so much in a long time. Reminds me of the good old days!

    1. How tall are you? I ordered this a couple days ago in S but now wondering if I should pick up the XS. It's in FS now. I am 5'8" and normally wear a 2 in outerwear but an S in shirts.

    2. Cheri, I'm 5'5 and the small hits me right at the wrist. I typically wear 2/4.

    3. I know! I love mine too. Btw, I'm a sz. S, sz. 4 and my jacket is a sz. S. I could've sized down to an XS, but I layer underneath b/c I live in a cold weather climate, so it's ok for me.

  5. I picked up the screaming deal on the lace sleeve top and had already ordered the basket weave jacket - but I got an S and I normally wear 2-4 on tops. Now wishing I had picked up an XS!

  6. Review of Basket Weave Jacket here. It is definitely roomy but I'm not sure I would be able to go to the XXS (although this might have been possible). I normally wear a 2 or XS on top and the pictures are of the XS. HTH.

    1. Thanks so much - I refer to your blog/reviews often. Congrats on baby. How tall are you for reference on this jacket/sleeve length?

    2. Thanks, Cheri! I appreciate it! I am 5'4" but have proportionately long arms and legs and a pretty short torso.

  7. Just when I told myself I was totally bored with the sale section...bit on the ivory lace sleeve top (thanks for the heads up ladies), weekend sweatshirt, merino mesh sleeve sweater in soft pink (I have this in grey and love it), silver perforated Cleo loafers, and the classic schoolboy in navy, for $50, I'll take a backup!!

  8. Many thanks shopmurphy. Just snagged the navy schoolboy--I figured for that price--I should have a twin for my other navy schoolboy--right????

  9. Psst... the 20% swim promo code might work on full price items.

  10. It's not on sale, but I reviewed the photo floral dress in this post. Thumbsup.

  11. The tortoise and stone necklace *is* on sale and I <a href="http://bit.ly/1uj72Pr><b>reviewed it here</b></a>. $89.99 in-store & online. Thumbsup.

  12. I picked up the curator pant on sale in store, $89.99 before promo. But when I got home and compared it to the pair I bought last winter (Fall 2013), the corner-cutting was so obvious. The SP 2014 version is not lined and the polyester fabric doesn't feel as smooth as the older pair. Jeez, way to kill my excitement! I would have gladly purchased the pant at retail price in the older version because it's a quality, machine-washable work pant. Now, their version is no different from what's offered at other mall retailers.

    1. With regards to the lack of lining, could that be related to the season (spring vs fall) and the fact that it will be a warmer weather pant?
