J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including JCREWGAL (in this post), and Federal Agent Fashionista (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The MAY catalog (click here to view) is still up. However, the latest JUNE catalog is not. As mentioned by several JCAs, J.Crew posted several images of the newest catalog over at Pinterest (click here to view).

Some things important to note:
  1. J.Crew is still offering 25% off select regular merchandise with promotional code PACKME. This offer expires May 24, 2014. They just included an extra 30% off sale styles with this code too. Expires May 24th as well. This is an example where the promotion gets an upgrade... yey!
  2. Reviews are appearing and disappearing on the website. J.Crew seems to still be tinkering with the back end... good luck with that.
I noticed that all the things I am interested in fall under the "classic crew" category. My top picks include:
I am loving the Crab top (item A5362), it is so cute with the crab print on the side, visible from the front and back. I am not loving the $98 price tag for the poly top. See you little guy on sale in a couple weeks. ;)

The Eyelet Stripe Dress (item A6588; $148.00) is a nice nod to the sundresses J.Crew typically offers during Summer time. Stripes and an eyelet pattern? Sold!

I think the Linen Embroidered Crab Sweater (item A5243; $79.50) is my favorite item from this rollout. I really like the graphic of the grab, woven into the sweater. Did you catch the heart in the middle? Cute! What I am worried about: "slim arms and an open body". I might be stuck between tight arms/true fit body or true fit arms/loose body. I will have to try on in-person now.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. I'm completely in love with the very expensive sweatshirt with the giant wave on the front and the back. I think I will even order it at full price.

    1. If you're referring to the Metallic Wave Jacquard Sweater, it's actually a knit sweater, rather than a sweatshirt, and it is wonderful IRL. My store got it a couple of weeks ago and I snapped it up immediately. The colors are great and the metallic thread really jazzes it up. Super cute with a pair of navy Campbell capris.

  2. I'm also fascinated by the Maison Kitsune stuff--I just love Kitsune's clothing and think it's intriguing that JCrew partnered with them.

  3. I love the gemstone floral silk dress! Very tempted to order it! Would love to hear anyone's review of fit and style!

    1. Cute, but the fabric is very thin, might even say flimsy. You'll need a slip.

    2. I tried it on yesterday. I love the print but was not sold on the cut or fit. I am 5'2" and typically a 00 in J.Crew. I found it too loose up top and a bit too tight on the bottom. Just not flattering. It might work on someone taller and thinner, but it might also then be too short...

  4. I agree. That dress is beautiful. But it looks like a shift dress, which is not usually a good cut for me (there was that scroll print dress two years ago, which I think was also a shift).

You know--I feel like there must be a promo at some point. So--it's hard to actually purchase anything right this second. Also, the sale section seems to have an additional 30% off right now...

  5. I really like the collection laser-cut midi skirt and the liberty pajama set, but not enough to order at full price, esp. since I just got the eyelet midi on pop back (and sale + 30%) this morning!

  6. I just ordered the lovely surf sweatshirt but think I may place a second order for the eyelet dress and the crab sweater. Good rollout!

  7. I received my catalog in the mail yesterday and found a questionable item: I Love Public School Boys tee found here: https://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/NewArrivals/knitsandtees/PRDOVR~B0819/B0819.jsp
I messaged my sister who is a teacher and jokingly told her JC had come out with a shirt for teachers! This tee is so inappropriate for anyone older than their teens to wear. And it is labeled as a sweatpant in the item title? Am I missing something??

    3. I'm with you, Firefighter Wife. While on one hand, cute, think how this would sound if a grown man wore it....referencing either boys or girls. Could we not have stopped with I love public school (which I do?)

      Delete
    4. I agree with Firefighter Wife. I get the shirt, but it's super tacky. As a teacher, there is NO WAY I could ever wear this even at home. It's made for high school girls.

      Delete
    5. I agree with all.. The shirt is cute but, I could never buy or even wear. I am a mother to a high school son and as a teacher I would be in trouble!! It should have ended at Public School!

  9. I may order the sandals w/the gems on them and the gladiator sandals to try and hope for a promo soon on them. Their good sandals seem to sell out quickly before sales hit. I also like the halter style maxi dress but looking at the shot of the model's back, it seems like there's no way you could wear a bra w/it, which ain't gonna happen with me. Is it possible to wear a strapless bra w/that dress? Curious for others' thoughts on that one.

  11. The Madgelena skirts???? Like I always say "if it looks stupid on a MODEL, just think what it will look like on you!". If this is a "fashion designer" offering....gee, where do I sigh up?? Pluuuzeee!

    1. Hee hee! Any Kroll Show fans out there? This skirt reminds me of the "Signing Bonus" when the guy invented a double umbrella.."What keeps the umbrella from getting wet?"

    2. Immediate thoughts include:

Didn't I see a Hee Haw Honey wearing this?

      Granny, stick to afghans.

No need for a napkin. You're wearing a crumb catcher.

It's awful. But the Crew must like it....they did a top as well!

      Delete
    3. I love it all. Of course, I'm flat chested, so that may partly be why. I love that JCrew includes these fashion forward pieces.

    4. I like the magdelena skirts too, although I would be the first to say they look crap on the models. The styling just sucks. My big fear would be that there may be too much dirndl gathering at the waist, but I think if the material is flowy enough it should be ok. I would style with a very cropped top or a tank and different sandals, keeping everything else very sleek. Also don't like polyester or the colour of the silk...I think this style could do with a more subtle colour.

  13. I LOVE the gemstone print in the swimsuits and shorts/min not to much the floral version.
Also like the love beach tee (finally a non-linen tee!) and the colorblock cover up (saw this one in store, it is stunning in the blue).
I might be the only one but I like the Collection eyelet flounce top in black (ole ole), if it fits well I might get it if they have a promo.

    1. You are not the only one Ema. I love the collection eyelet flounce, too! I can't decide between the black or white. I can totally see the black paired with white jeans and sandals!

I also love that it offered in a dress...but i know I'll get more use out of the top than the dress. I'm planning to buy it without the promo.

    2. Count me in to as loving the flounce top in black too! I am surprised at how much I would buy with a FP promo.

    3. I love the flounce dress in black. I tried it on yesterday. It is super light-weight and comfortable.

    4. @Susan - They had the flounce dress in black at the store?! It's only showing in white, online.
I'm hoping my B&M carries it, so I don't have to guess what size I am if I plan on buying the top online..

    5. I just tried the top in black. It fits TTS to small (don't size down). I wasn't completely in love with the neckline on me, I would have preferred it a bit lower. Also it isn't tuckable and I like to tuck in. I wasn't as much in love.
JSR, I think Susan is talking about the regular flounce dress, not the Collection eyelet one.

    6. Ema, will you be posting pictures of the top on Instagram?

      Delete
    7. Unfortunately my phone's battery died while I was trying on, so I have no pics. I might go back and try it again if I have time (also because I was wearing a dark bottom that didn't go with it at all).
I also tried the heart beach tee and I loved it (supersoft). Fits tts but I actually tried a size down and it was fine as well (maybe a bit grabby due to material).

    8. Thank you for replying! I would greatly appreciate it if you have the chance next time you're there :)

    9. Thanks Ema! Can't wait to see you try it on. :)

    10. By pppular demand I went back and tried it again. I liked it better this time but still not 100% convinced for the price. Love the sleeves though. Pic on Insta (crazyaboutjcrew)

  20. I really liked this rollout. Ordered the gemstone floral dress and shirt to try. Liked a lot of the Juan Carlos pieces. Ordered the lines chevron dress. I really like a lot of the apiece apart but prices are too high for me. I really like the feather paisley.

  21. Lots of beautiful collection items...Am I loaded enough to get them? No. But hopefully a trip to a B&M store will land me more surprise buys! (I got a4918 embroidered floral racer top last weekend, it was reduced to &79.99 + 40% off + student discount. It is still full price on the site.)

  22. Alexis, I was very pleasantly surprised by the crab top. I generally find crustacians a bit creepy and I thought the same when I saw the top online but it is actually stunning IRL. It looks like a collection piece (the poly is very structured, kind of like the overblown floral one that was silk and $$$). On the other hand it looks more of a one-time wear piece that something that you would wear over and over. More fashion-forward than preppy IMO.

  23. If anyone has seen the trench dress in either the sea salt or navy, please chime in. I'm considering ordering but frankly the model shot is not that appealing.

    -eyelet sweatshirt
    -gemstone floral top
    -arrow print popover
    -leaf print popover

    -late trim tank
    -striped linen tank

You can see it on my blog here.

  25. The Feather Paisley Top is great. Much better IRL than in the catalog, but I think that it looks better sized down. I wore it last weekend and got TONS of compliments, which is always nice! :)

  26. Got the new catalog today. Frankly, I'm not impressed, especially with the new designers that Jenna raves about. To be honest, I'm in love with just about everything Madewell lately. JC seems to be cranking out the same old, same old...Too bad. Or maybe it's good, for my wallet?

    1. I agree, I don't think there was one thing I was interested in! Bummer.

    2. Yeah, not impressed at all. The only thing I did like in the catalog was the location! Other than that, I will be happily sitting out on this new rollout.

    3. Agree ... the maxi dresses @ Madewell blow JC's out of the water.

  27. PSA: A little "secret". For those JCAs interested in the red and navy striped Isabelle Factory pumps, they are not sold out. They are available online for only $64 with the current 50% promo. However, they will not show up under Women's Shoes (regular or sale), but, if you type "Isabelle" in the search function, they will show up and they are available in most sizes. They are final sale. I would suggest going up 1/2 size from your non JCrew size. Gigi did a detailed review on her blog.

  28. Everything I liked seemed a little too long in this roll out, the Embroidered Windowpane Tank length is over 25" long even in petite. The Pintuck sundresses and Lace Shift Dress are also close to 40" long and I can't see paying to get them shortened.
