JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Help styling the J.Crew Factory Isabelle striped pumps please! All I can think of is jeans with a white shirt so as not to clash with the pumps. I thought about wearing red or navy tops but that seems to matchy matchy. They are red and navy striped and made from fabric and grosgrain ribbon so something about them feels more casual. I dunno how I feel about wearing them with a dress? I just think they would look better with denim. Can anyone suggest any other outfits?

    1. I think I would wear red, navy, white, beige or green with those pumps. You can wear a red or navy belt if you don't want to be too matchy-matchy.

    2. Try monochromatic and let the shoes pop...all navy or white or even grey.

  5. Arrow Ikat Pull-on pants (a7937). How can I wear these so that they don't look like pajama pants? I love them so much but I can't figure out what to wear them with. Thanks for any ideas!

    1. Boy they do look like pjs. Have you tried a more dressy look? Or do you want casual? I'd do a tight white v tee, flip flops, and a Panama hat and tote for Saturday shopping. Or tank, scrappy heels, maybe shrunken blazer, clutch and a bit of bling for bar hopping. Tim Gunn..make it work!

    2. I don't wear heels, so unfortunately that won't work. Now that you mention it, I agree something fitted on top is a good idea. I'll try some fitted options with it and see how that looks. Thank you!!

  6. Does any JCA see/try the Factory Embroidered Floral mini in neon lemon in the store? http://factory.jcrew.com/womens-clothing/skirts/aline/PRDOVR~A6429/A6429.jsp

Can you comment on the fit and color? Last year the retail store carried a similar mini skirt. I live far away from an outlet store ... Thanks in advance~

    1. Try Sperry! This year they have hit the sandal options out of the ball park! I have the flat espadrilles and just bought a flat navy sandal with a rope strap. So cute!

  8. Greetings JCREWGAL - I bought the Marina Canvas Mini-Wedge Espadrilles (on promo, yay) and like them a lot. Not totally flat, but I'll emphasize the "mini" in mini-wedge. I purchased, but returned the T-strap Flats and the Buckle Baby Wedges. The Buckle Baby Wedges weren't that flattering, and while I really liked the style, I thought the super-thin strap across the front of the foot on the T-Strap Sandals would have me wincing in pain after an hour of wear. I haven't bought much from them lately, but 9 West is a go-to brand for me - they have a lot of flat sandals and frequently run promotions on their website and in-store. 9 West Outlets are typically buy 1, get the 2nd at 50% off if there is one near you. Good luck!
