Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I really like the eversoft v neck sweater in camel color at the Gap. It has a boyfriend type fit and I sized down. Also got a tweed front long sleeve tee with elbow patch. I think it is in store only.

    2. I could not find the item on the website. I end up getting both colors: navy (#23699 70000) and the gray( 23699 9000). No sale in stores but It was only $30 FP. I am in between XS/SM in JC. I bought the XS. I may exchange for small for a relaxed fit.
Sorry no blog to post pic. I can email to you if needed.

  4. For anyone still dreaming of JCrew's Wool Oxford Jacket from fall 2007, Banana Republic has a similar style in cobalt blue.

    1. Oh my goodness. I have been dreaming about this jacket. I ordered it just to see what it looks like. It says its 100% cotton, which is odd for a blazer, but better than polyester, I suppose. No reviews yet.

    1. 312JCgirl - Groopdealz definitely has a tortoise flower bracelet up. I don't see the necklace.

    2. Oops thanks for the correction, Gigi. You are right it was the bracelet not necklace.

  7. I was looking for a houndstooth blazer in a longer length, like the hacking jacket. I found one from Jack Wills and I think it's the same houndstooth fabric and colors as J Crew's houndstooth baseball cap. It fits well in the same size I wear in J Crew blazers and I love the longer length. http://www.jackwills.com/en-us/product/aberthaw-blazer-10000218701

  12. I really like Madewell's Viewpoint Sweater Jacket (it only comes in gray). It is more like a very thick sweater than a jacket, and it has a moto vibe to it. The wool is reallllly thick and warm.

  13. Can anyone recommend a good alternative to JC for suits? I need something for a job interview but I'm disappointed that many of JC's pant options don't come lined (at least from what I can tell online). I've Banana Republic before but their jackets look bulky on me, so I'd love some suggestions!

  14. Like Friendly Femme mentioned above, Boden is offering 20% off winter warmers, it ends tonight, so if you had your eye on an item, know that the prices will revert to normal tomorrow.

I wrote a very brief post on the sale here.

Some of the items are selling well, including the Ingrid Coat, which was fully stocked (but backordered) in the black on Monday, and is now almost fully gone in all colors but the yellow.

  16. I believe I got this tip from a JCA... but I just wanted to echo the recommendation for the Steven by Steve Madden Paigge shoes.

I just received my pair in Leopard (made from natural horse hair). They were $39.38 on Amazon. I compared them side by side with my patent Janey flats and I can't detect a difference-- except for the price!

While the patent version of these pumps are ~$62 on Amazon, you can get them at ShoeMall.com for $43 if you use the code TAKE20 at checkout. ShoeMall carries them in black and a color very similar to J.Crew's apricot blush: http://www.shoemall.com/p/steven-womens-paigge-slipon/?&color=Peach-Patent

In terms of sizing, I typically wear an 8, but purchased the leopard in 7.5 since it was the last size left. I would say these are TTS, yet still not too tight if you need to take a half size down. They feel like they'll stretch a bit.

    Hope that helps!

    2. Apologies for the additional post!

I just wanted to add that HSN in fact has these Steven shoes on clearance in a wide range of sizes. The leopard flats are $39.95 and the peach flats are $29.98. If you spend $75 on clearance items, the shipping is free.
