Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I visited the clearance store this weekend and it was fun to find some sample items that may or may not be released in the future. They looked like items that I would expect to see released near the holidays. I found:
    1. The current hand knit tile sweater in red and maroon
    2. A green and white ski type sweater with a deer head and antlers a crossed the front....very vintage feel.
    3. A navy blue and red fair isle sweater with little knots all over....kinda like on the "popcorn sweater".
    4. A gorgeous metallic striped dress with a rich brocade pattern....very holiday
5.A beautiful jacquard pencil skirt in blue black and brown with an adorable polka-dot trim and faux front pockets

Anyway it is always fun to find the samples and what might be coming down the pike at J crew!

  3. I stopped by the Factory store and bought the hothouse floral print blouse. I love it. I don't mind that it's poly. In this top they did a good job and the poly could almost past for silk upon touch. I have the retail skirt in the print and they actually match quite well. The two look dowdy together on me so I won't combine but if the top were a different cut I would be able to wear them together. I think the top is TTS. I also got the new jewel collared sweater in the oatmeal like color. I sized down two sizes from my average sweater size. Also bought the envelope clutch in gold leather- love it. Leather looks like retail. And Venus flytrap necklace (not sure if that's the official name). I saw nothing at the retail store I wanted. I tried the moto zip wool jacket. What a disaster. The fit was so boxy and unflattering.

  4. Does anyone know when the next rollout will be? I can't believe I'm not going to buy anything at a 25% off promo, but there is nothing I want.

  5. I stopped by the retail store very briefly yesterday. I bought another color in the drapey swing tee, as I love my mauve blush one. I'm still waiting for everything I bought last week online from retail and factory, though.

  6. So, the hothouse floral print at factory. I loved it on the skirt and blouse, but on most of the dresses, there was way too much of the dark part of the print. It wasn't nearly as pretty. I already ordered the dress online but I am going to return it and get the blouse instead. The print is so pretty... I HATE polyester, but hate silk chiffon more, for different reasons obviously, which is why I didn't look twice at the retail version. I agree with 312JCgirl, they did a really good job with the factory version of this blouse.

  7. @jcrewJD-did you try the dress on? Am wondering how short it is IRL. Thank you!

  8. Hi jan, I didn't, because they didn't have my size in store. It looked short but not super short. The one I ordered online should be here tomorrow or the next day so I will report back once I try it on!

  9. If you haven't seen the factory hothouse blouse & are now curious, I reviewed it here. I reviewed the skirt, too. My store didn't have the dress.

  11. I have always heard of the "amazing" VPS in store & how customers develop personal relationships & how the VPS lets them know of new items & helps them put outfits together. I wonder if this varies from store to store.
At my local store, the sales people seemed to be stressed & rushed, & sometimes my e-mails aren't responded to - & I feel like a bother if I call to inquire about new items. Are my expectations too high? Just wondering...

    1. Gigi, thank you for the factory reviews! They've been so helpful during the sale! I had already ordered the peplum ponte top but it looks like it won't work, wish I could cancel it.

  13. Can anyone comment on the length of the Skinny Sweatpant?

  14. My store had a big sale section but it was all... meh. I'm still well-stocked with JCrew fall items from last spring's fire sale.

I bought black matchsticks and tried on the peter pan dress that other JCAs have mentioned. I expected to hate the peter pan dress but it was lovely! The cut isn't juvenile as I had feared it would be. I took the bigger of my two usual dress sizes.

    1. How was the price on the black matchsticks? Do they run the same as other colored matchsticks?

    2. The black matchsticks were full price and honestly I can't remember what it was ($115?) It came out to about $90 after taxes and the 25% off promo, which was a bargain to me because it included hemming (free) with my JCrew credit card.

I've never tried on the color matchsticks but I do have a pair in denim. I'm petite in height but have wide hips and thick calves and matchsticks are the only "skinny" JCrew pants that look decent on me.

  15. Does anyone know how the factory peacoat compares to the majesty peacoat?

  18. Any of you ladies who visited factory stores, did you happen to see any French Hen sweaters in either navy or light blue in XXS (or even XS)? TIA!

    1. Anthro Blogger - The french hen wasn't in my radar at all. Remember you can ask a store to pull the style # in the computer & see if any stores have it. Of course JCA WIFFY might be faster. lol

    2. anthro blogger, they had at least 10 light blue French hen sweaters this weekend at the store I visited but I didn't check sizes. They are in the clearance section (315) 539-6003
