"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Promo codes not working correctly is annoying but happy to report INSTYLE25 is working now. I *think* I'm happy about that ;)

  2. Oh and more stuff added to sale, like the strawberry thief popover and wool racing-stripe track pants, but they're now final sale. :(

  3. jcrew just canceled my order for the Nike air pegasus sneakers! so pissed! goes back to the discussion yesterday - how much can you really trust them if you order a hot ticket item? I've been holding off looking for new sneakers while I've waited on these.

    1. They cancelled mine, too (or tried to) and then the next morning, the shoes were listed as backordered again, so I ordered *another* pair. I now have two pairs on waitlist. It seems so absurd that they would call and tell me that there was no more and then 12 hours later, there they are on the website as backordered.

    2. FYI, they have them other places. I've seen them on 6pm, zappos, Bloomingdales (20% off right now) and a few other sites.

  4. Vent on quality, not on customer service, which was super helpful resolving this issue. I ordered the "Collection" printed Etta's, the one w/ the beautiful foulard silk. The pair I was sent was TERRIBLE. The insole used was too long, so the extra length was bunched up in each toe box. The inside leather was very wrinkled, and the seam that runs along the back of each heel (heel of your foot) slanted hard right on both shoes. I'm only mentioning this because I would not be surprised if this gets shipped back to the warehouse for selling after I return it. Think twice before you order a size 8.5!

  5. The seam completely fell out of my crinkle city skirt yesterday. I've had the skirt since January, but still.

  6. I had an awful experience with J.Crew yesterday, The jacket I ordered did not arrive, instead I got a totally different Crewcuts jacket. I called customer service and they did a return but then they needed a new card to charge to ship out the correct jacket. Well, J.Crew cannot process my debit card for some reason so I always have to use Paypal on the website (works fine in store). The guy kept telling me my card was no good and then kept pushing me to apply for the J.Crew card to get 10% off. I then called my back and they told me there was no block on J.Crew and that there was an authorized transaction from J.Crew that had just gone through. I called J.Crew back, spent 20 minutes on hold while they looked into the issue, and finally they told me it was a processing problem on their end and put the transaction through. All together , at least 45 minutes of my time. Uggg. I feel like they should have offered me a % off or something for such a total inconvenience but I guess not.

  7. The warehouse sale in Arden is not as amazing as I thought. Although it rained all day, the dedicated die hards such as myself waited for 8 hours. Once inside it was a complete mess, so much so you cannot really shop. I feel for the employees trying to keep order. I drove over from Atlanta beginning at 5 AM. It would be much better if the product was put on racks by color (like goodwill does!). The boxes were filled will a variety pack - wedding dress, one shoe, broken necklace, belt, men's t shirt, etc. If you live in Arden NC, stop by but do not make a special trip from out of town. You live and learn!

  8. Was told last night that a sweater that was clearly priced in the sale section was 'marked wrong,' but they 'would give me 25% off.' It ended up being way more than it would have been with 40% off, and I had seen the same sweater marked the same in another store. Mad at myself for not standing up for myself, but really frustrated with how I was treated as though they were doing me a favor. Grrr

  9. Received my ponte peplum shirt today with a blue ballpoint pen stain, about 1.5 inches long, on the side of the shirt. Gee, thanks! Does this happen in the warehouse? It looked brand new otherwise, wrapped in tissue and everything.

Returned it on my lunch break. At least I got two other tops on sale at 40% off. The jeweled sateen sleeveless top with black trim, and the jeweled cuff and collar gray sweatshirt. Got both for about $85.
