J.Crew's November Catalog Sneak Peek on Pinterest

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that there are several images from the upcoming catalog on Pinterest. (Click here for J.Crew on Pinterest.)

What are your thoughts on the upcoming collection? Are there any pieces you are super excited about? Does your local store carry any of the new arrivals yet? If so, please share!

  1. The jeweled neckline sweatshirt looks different in the Pinterest pic than it does on the site with the lace skirt - the online pic looks like it has a lighter grey neckline, which I like better. Also, the placement of the jewels looks a little different - more symmetrical on the site, a little sloppier on Pinterest. What gives, JC?

  2. Got my style guide in the mail today. Could that mean new arrivals are online tomorrow?!?

I'm so over the jeweled sweaters, particularly along the neckline. I'm kinda shocked that there aren't any pencil skirts shown. And I'm not even a pencil skirt kinda gal. The fluted skirts look so junior-y to moi.

Loving the knit sweatshirt dress on page 70; the suede darby tassel flats in red; and the vintage sweatshirt on page 43. The lace swiss dot shirt on page 26 is gorgeous, but would NEVER work in my toddler lifestyle.

OT: I'm strongly considering the factory printed pleated top and factory optical lace top. They look identical to last year's offerings, and I love that they are machine washable. I'm on the fence, because I NEVER do factory. Advice, please?!?!

    1. What reason could you possible have for NEVER doing factory???? NEVER say NEVER. Do what you want though:) Your choice.

    2. I think I don't shop factory so much because the factory store near me is in the complete opposite way than where I shop. But your advice is right on! I wish the 4-hour promo involved the items I want, but it doesn't!

    3. Susan - I reviewed the factory printed pleated top in this post, the hothouse print. I think machine washable is great. It's poly, but I like that it's less fragile than silk chiffon.

I haven't seen the lace printed top in-store, but I ordered it based on how much I liked the hothouse. The lace printed is waitlisted.

  3. Meh, seems like a lot of gray this year. Also, no new outerwear styles? Just recycling old styles in new colors?

  4. I love the color of that peacoat and hope to see it on a few pieces. Does anybody know what it is called?

  5. Does anyone know if they will have the Hacking jacket this season?

  6. I love the two non-wool coats/parkas/what-you-may-call-them! Both are blue and made of some kind of synthetic fabric. Can't wait to try them on! It's fitting that November is my birth month =P.

I've been shopping largely as Madewell, but I finally feel that old spark that J.Crew used to evoke .... lol.

  8. For those who already received the new catalog, are there any new colors for the lady day coat? Thanks!

    1. Antique linen is the only color shown in the Guide. The text states: more colors on-line.

Odd that other coat styles picture all the colors being offered. Maybe the Lady day isn't coming out in new colors.

  9. I am excited about this Style Guide. I see both colors (Heather Mineral) and styles (Toggle Coat) that are fresh and wearable. I think part of the "old J. Crew" feel is because there is more in this rollout that you can wear for more than a season.

The bejeweled sweaters and camo styles in my closet lasted about two weeks and already have that "date stamp" look to me: yup, August/September 2013.

    1. Hi ruffles - I agree. That Collection herringbone topcoat looks similar to an oldie that pops on eBay from time to time. I like the ideas for styling stuff I already have, and of course love the old feel. Remember Fall '10 when every model was wearing 3 shirts and 5 necklaces?

I'm over colorblocking, camo, and dropped shoulders... but I'll never be over grey. Ever!

    2. I, too, am over camp and color blocking, and the dropped shoulders look too sloppy imo.

I LOVE houndstooth, and just got the houndstooth pencil skirt for about $64 after price cut and w 40% off. It can work as a dark neutral for a while.

But LOL! I saw houndstooth throw rugs at Target the other day, and there are a number of Merona items that are in houndstooth (skirt, blazer, shirts, cotton seater). Really adorable. But now really over-saturated!

As for the beautiful heather mineral? I LOVE that. But I would hesitate buying that color in a coat due to the date-stamp factor....

    3. ^camp is 'camo.' auto-correct!

  10. Can anyone remember when the holiday catalogue usually come out? Surely not late November?

  11. Really like the look of the wrap pencil skirt. Will have to see in real life though as "wrap" skirts can be tricky on me. Other than that...meh.

  14. Wow, J.Crew really scaled back on the WOW factor this season. So safe and familiar. It looks like their old stuff from 7 years ago?
Does anyone know if Gale had any input on the direction of their recent Style Guides?

Two friends of my cousin from NYC are stylists, and I've seen their Instagram pictures working on styling for J.Crew, and I wonder if the changes had anything to do with the Gale not being involved anymore, hmm?
    Because I noticed the change...

Maybe the holiday style guide will be better.
