J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Ina Mack (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here). The OCTOBER catalog (click here to view) is also available to view.

I am off to check out the new arrivals. I am curious to see what items are available and which items are already sold out/ back ordered. ;)

Don't forget! J.Crew is offering 25% off every order (no min!) with promo code INSTYLE25. This offer expires October 15, 2013. J.Crew is also offering customers to take an additional 40% off Final Sale (click here to shop online) with promo code EXTRA40. Yey! This code expires October 12, 2013. Unfortunately, J.Crew can only process one code at a time, so you may want to quickly "run the numbers" to figure out which promo is a better deal for you.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. I finally bit, I saw the new handknit tile sweater in the mist gray colorway in store last night and fell in love. The gray is more of a bluish gray I think, but it was something that looked really pretty IRL. Free shipping today w/out a code so the InStyle25 stacks nicely.

    1. It's great that free shipping can be stacked with the code! Thanks for the info on the tile sweater, I fell in love with it too when I saw it on the website this morning. :)

    2. Terilyn, I agree I saw the sweater on Monday in store and it was cream and blue/grey IRL. Really liked it and percentage of wool and cashmere to nylon was good.

  2. Also free shipping on all orders today!

The merino knotted scarf sweater and the crinkle boyshirt in red check are on my wishlist.

  3. I also got the early access email for factory new arrivals. They really need to stop selling the same exact stuff from previous retail seasons. :/

    1. The same thing happened with the gray version, sometimes it shows sold out and then it's fully stocked. There are also tons of them in store. I feel like they are only releasing groups of them at a time.

  5. Nothing I need, but I just have to say that I looked at the girls' section, and wish they'd make some of that stuff for us!

I thought the same thing about the last catalog.

    3. If you wear shoe size 6-7.5 (euro sizes 35-38 or kids size K4-K6), check out both the boys & girls shoe sections. There are nice sandals to be had for less than $15, including Teva's and dressier styles too. There are also Mila's (just like women's) for $30 and less. Worth it, even with final sale. Also nice Liberty print ballet flats, though more expensive.

    4. I was thinking the same thing, too! I did get a boys' graphic tee the other day - size 12, I'm normally an XS and it fits perfectly. I little short but I'm wearing it tucked into a pencil skirt today and works well. Fabric is soft and good weight (not too thin). Will be keeping an eye on the boys' section from now on.

  6. The shirttail mini is offered in tall, the wool a-line skirt looks almost like the sterling skirt, and the new colors for the pencil skirt are all interesting to me.

  7. Terribly disappointed with this rollout. The color combos and patterns are just odd (and wouldn't last the test of time in my closet). Plus, there seem to be way too many similar prints. Also, while I'm a Ratti fan, this month's selection was underwhelming.

Overall, i didn't like most of the items and felt "meh" about the rest (at best). Too bad, because J Crew's Fall offerings used to be my favorite source for updated cozy classics that lasted for years. Oh, well.

    1. I only wanted the gray bird shirt, otherwise nothing in this release for me. The store associate told me this is just a refresh/mini-rollout. The big one with the holiday/winter stuff is yet to come but I don't remember the date they told me.

  9. LOVING the double cloth tipped coat. That is gorgeous. I'm such a J. Crew whore, but have never bought their outerwear. Is it worth the price?

Merino embroidered lace sweater is super cute. Of course, the color I dig is backordered. Come on, J. Crew.

The merino tippi in French knot is back in some sizes in navy. I remember that item being a highly coveted sweater!

I'm also loving the pear necklace and the darby tassel loafers.

The lace skirt is gorgeous. I saw that in my store last month. I have no need for it, but if you have a fancy party or dinner, it would be super cute!

    1. Hi Susan - JC's coats just keep going up and up in price, but the Instyle25 may bring it down to "normal". As far as their worth, I think it partly depends on where you live because some of the coats are not very warm. Stadium-cloth tends to be the warmest, then wool-cashmere, then double-cloth. The double-cloth coats have tended to run on the small size in the past, so definitely contact CS to get measurements beforehand. Rynetta reviewed it here.

    2. This winter will be my third winter with my stadium cloth coat. I wear it almost every day and it has held up well. When it is extremely cold I layer an LL Bean thinsulate vest underneath and it's perfect. I may buy a new coat this year, but only for variety sake not because I need it.

      Delete
    3. Thanks for the info Silver_lining and AJL. I was wondering how these styles differed.
How is the sizing for the Stadium Cloth? I often take a petite size, but see that this option is not available in the Stadium cloth.

      Delete
    4. Hi maryeb - from my experience, the Stadium Cloth coats have run pretty TTS (meaning, I could wear them over a sweater, but probably not over a blazer - I'd size up if I wanted to do that).

      Delete
    5. Thanks, silver_lining. I'm seriously tempted by the Stadium Cloth Captain coat. The gray is on sale and, if I can get an extra 25% off with the code, it may be worth trying even though gray is not my favorite color. I am in serious need of a new winter coat.

    6. EXTRA40 should work on the grey since it's on promo. I just tried it on a mock checkout and it worked.

  12. Nothing at all for me with this mini rollout. As st mentioned above, the wool a-line skirt appears to be the new name for the sterling skirt. I was hoping they had gone back to the original design, but after asking for measurements it appears that it is still the same as last year's version, which fits more like the J.Crew pencil skirts. Here are a couple of measurements I got from CS Chat:

Sara S: For the waist, the 00 will be 27.5". Add one inch for each additional size.
Sara S: The hip is 34" for a 00. Add one inch for each additional size.
Sara S: The length of a 00 is 21". Add 0.25" per additional size.

  14. Hi,

I have a weird story to share. Ordered the Mougin & Piquard watch in navy on Monday with the 40% off promo. The watch was listed for 250.00 and with the 40% off came to 150.00. I was so happy, because that obviously an incredible price. It shipped. Later that day I saw it was listed for 325.00 or so. I received it yesterday. It's wonderful. Today the watch is back at full price.

Are these weird price changes common for Jcrew? I have never seen anything like this...

  15. The newer scarves in store seem really itchy, has anyone tried one on?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes, I ordered the patchwork grid scarf with the last rollout 25% off promo. I thought this would be an easy way to add a menswear look to an outfit. I ended up sending it back. It just wasn't anything special...I found it itchy, the edges were rough sewn, the colors were much more muted in real life..it just wasn't what I had hoped. It is a very long scarf so if that is what your looking for..it may work...but it is definitely itchy and unfinished looking.

      Delete
    2. Thanks reaganflowers. I was in a hurry and just touched one without trying it on. I like the looks of a lot of the scarves but I can't wear itchy scarves.

    3. I found the diamond plaid scarf to be really soft.
All the other wool scarves were to scratchy for me.

    4. I agree with, Ina. I love the Diamond and plaid scarf. It's very soft. I bought the black/ivory and the cobalt/cabernet.

    5. Thanks Ina and maryeb! I have tried on the diamond plaid scarf, I really liked it! I guess it's just the tweedy ones that are itchy.

  16. Did anyone see the Wool A Line Skirt; very reminiscent of the Sterling J Crew offered a few seasons ago? Comes in black and pinot noir. Same slant pockets and price.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Haven't seen it, Wendy - but if it sits at the waist and is only 22" long it's going to be shorter than the Sterling was (the Sterling was 23.5" long. I think they probably hacked off some of the length between the product shot and production.

      Delete
    2. Wendy: st mentioned the skirt earlier this morning, so I asked cs for measurements since I am a fan of the original sterling skirt. This years version is like last years...see my comment with some measurements included above in this thread.

      Delete
    3. I received the A-Line skirt today. Though the shape is like the Sterling Skirt the wool is thinner and more lightweight. Not suiting-like but not like last year's. There are stitch line at the bottom too. Zoom in on the pics to see. I ordered the 8 Petite which is a perfect fit in the waist and length. I will try to get a review and pics up later today or tomorrow. I'm waiting on a Talbots skirt to see which I like better (BOGO 50% off right now). HTH!

  17. Seems like a small rollout, especially for fall. I like the sweaters in general and I love the Ratti Collection tile coat.

Where are the jackets (blazers)? I spend the most money on those of anything in my wardrobe, and I wish J Crew produced more and better jackets, particularly ones that aren't boxy & cropped, and not pink. I do like this season's merino sweater jacket though.

  18. haven't had time to check out the retail new arrivals...will do that shortly! Factory sent out their preview link for the new arrivals this morning, I have to say, while it's nice to snag things you missed from last year, the recycling of styles is getting a little old. For this rollout they've brought back the hothouse floral, tartan mini skirt, scalloped lace top and the Tilda tops are already in Factory version...along with a few of the geometric print skirts from last year (can't remember the names). Link here
    if anyone is interested

    1. The Tilda top looks identical. As does the ponte peplum top. I have both and like them a lot. I highly recommend the Tilda top for wearing under things. I wear it under dresses and sweaters all the time. It adds a bit of jazz to a boring work outfit. It is odd that the styles are in factory so quickly.

    2. I wonder if that's what we will see more of now - new arrivals with lower inventory levels that sell out more quickly, don't go to final sale but to factory versions instead.

Some of the new arrivals are already low in stock TODAY!

  20. I agree, shopmurphy. I like seeing a few things from the past (like the color block elbow patch sweater which I may snag), I wish they would only pick a few things to copy. I miss the original offerings. Plus, if you bought things from J. Crew in the past, then there's no reason to buy from factory.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wish the sterling came out in some new colors. Also, did any one notice that the Factory has a cami that looks like the Victoria from years ago! I missed out on that one, so I might be getting it this time.

  22. OT: Has anyone else had an issue with points not accumulating when using their J. Crew CC? I have made 3 separate purchases and the points read as 0. It normally comes through with an adjustment for the points (without shipping and tax) but mine has not done that. I wanted to see if anyone else had the same issue.

    1. Same issue. I figured it was because I returned something and they had issues the rewards card already.

  26. Also about the Instyle code, are stores still honoring both the 40% off and 25% off? My personal stylist combined the promotions last week but today she said they are no longer combining the two.

    1. Ally - The 25% is supposed to be separate from the addtl 40%. You got lucky, I think. :)

    2. Thanks gigi! So do you think the store would do two separate transactions if I bought sale items and regular price items and wanted to use the instyle code?

      Delete
    3. Ally - I would let them ring everything up. Then present the INSTYLE email. If they give you an issue, just say you don't mind doing separate transactions. And stay pleasant. It should go well.

      Delete
    4. ...oh, not suggesting you'd show irritation. I just find that when I'm jovial and pleasant, it's a nice, easy experience for all

    5. Oh, I got lucky yesterday ;)
Bought one regular price item and four sale items. Did exactly what Gigi mentioned above got both discounts. I don't think the SA wanted to void and do two separate transactions.

  31. It is odd. A number of items went on sale today. For instance the pleated chiffon blouse in silk gingham (long sleeve) and a few of the 1035 suiting pieces are all on sale. So, if you're looking for sale items, you may want to look at the entire site.

  34. Has anyone seen or tried on the Nora Jeweled Cap Toe Ballet Flats? They look pretty but they have satin - could be a huge waste of money. Plus doesn't Nora run large?

Also, has anyone seen or tried on the Nora Studded Ankle Strap Ballet Flats? Do they look solid? Do they run large?

I'm pretty shopped out, bought several standbys like the Waverly chinos, Jackies and Merino Boyfriend, all at like $20-30 each. Now, I'm just wondering about these shoes but there could be a very good reason these just sit there, especially when they are Final Sale even though I haven't seen them in any of the stores to try on.

  35. Anyone else notice that on the sale page, the cocoon coat is listed... but when you click on it, it either says sold out or redirects you to a page of normal priced cocoon coats?

    What's going on?

I wonder if it's on sale in store...

    1. When that happens, customer service says that there was a color on sale but that color must have sold out. That's what I've been told, because I called and asked what is going on (not with this coat but another item). I thought it was sneaky to hook us to look or buy with the sale then you get there and it's not really on sale.
