J.Crew Updates Sale Section

J.Crew has a nice update to their Sale (click here to shop online) section online this morning. Lots of merchandise (1600+ for Women and 645+ for Men). It is amazing how many items are in the sale section and not selling out quickly!

I should add there are a lot of items new to sale (ending in .99) and on promotion (ending in .00) too.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see on sale? Which items did you hope would be included?

  1. I can't find anything new that's been added - can anyone else? Also, I posted last night that I was told in the store yesterday that the in-store sale discount is going up to 40% off today.

    1. Am I mistaken? Maybe because I haven't been checking it out as often as I use to, it seems like some new arrivals to me. I thought the "Ruffle-collar sweatshirt in grey" is new. I love sweatshirts so I thought I would have noticed it before. But maybe I didn't?

    2. No, it's not new - I already ordered it and sent it back! I just didn't like it on me.

    4. Thanks for the tip Debby (40% off in store). I'll check my B&M this afternoon

    5. You're right about the new additions to sale, Alexis...there are several new promo-priced items & markdowns today. I'm working on the list of both right now, and will post them on my blog a little later this morning. :)

    6. Thanks, Debby! I called my local B&M and they're holding a few things for me. Extra 40% off - yay!

    8. Debby, just use the New To Sale option from the drop-down list.

    9. This post originally said "website updated with new arrivals" and I couldn't find any new arrivals. Alexis took that down now. I posted about yesterday about the new things added to sale in the stores including the two-tone zip cardigan which is $99. in store but still full price online.

  2. What a romper! Some might even consider it questionable.

    1. WellFedFred: I just changed the post to feature the Sale Update since there was no update to new arrivals today. But I totally agree about the romper! ;)

  5. Does the "New to Sale" sorting work for anyone? It doesn't appear to be working for me.... the same old stuff are on top.

  6. Almost 1600 items in FS? It looks like merch from the entire summer is in there. If anyone wants or needs a pineapple tee, I think they've gotten one by now.

Can we hope for an extra 40% soon?

  8. JC needs to do something about this. 1600+ items is ridiculous.

  9. It is 40% off final sale in stores. I bought 2 items yesterday at 30% off final sale and now they won't adjust the price (it hasn't even been 24 hours). This is really frustrating!!!! Makes me wonder why I shop with them sometimes...

    1. Ashely - You might feel better if you do the math. I used to get caught up addtl 25 vs 30 vs 40. Then I realized that if I spent $100, that's only a $10 difference beween 30% & 40% off. That's not worth a haggling hassle for me.

    2. is the 40% off final sale for stores in the US?

      Delete
    3. Gigi, that is actually true. I never really thought about the actual amount haha. I still love their clothes!! $10 or so isn't that much of a difference.

tcv I know its 40% off in stores for the one I called in the US

  10. Hello JCAs! The list of new Promo-Priced Items & Markdowns is finished. See it here on my blog. There are a lot of them today, all of which are all eligible for the extra 25% off with code INSTYLE25. :)

  11. I was hoping the fluted skirt in double crepe (#03394) would be added to the sale (even though I know it is part of the fall collection). I have such a hard time paying full price for J.Crew items when I know they'll be on sale eventually. Has anyone tried on the skirt? Does it run small? I am normally a 10 in J.Crew no.2 pencil skirts, so I am wondering if I should size up to a 12 based on how it looks on the model.

    1. Elizabeth Kennedy: The INSTYLE25 code works on the fluted skirt for an extra 25% off. You could give it a try with that discount before it goes to final sale. At least now you can return it if it does not work out for you.

    2. Elizabeth, check out 'Life is short...buy the shoes' I know she reviewed this skirt a while back. Also, you could use the INSTYLE25 promo to at least get 25 % off. HTH!

    3. I tried it, and thought it ran TTS to maybe just a smidge small. I think it depends on your height and body type whether it will work for you. I'm tall, and felt it looked like a cheerleader skirt on me-short and full. HTH!

    4. hi elizabeth, i've reviewed the skirt HERE. that post also contains links to reviews done by others around the interwebz.

as for sizing, i think it does depend on your body type. i have a small waist and a lot of junk in the trunk, so i would take a smaller size in this type of skirt than i would a pencil skirt.

  15. 1600 is a big number (and almost 500 in Girls!). And there is so much duplication, both in the sale and non-sale categories. There are over 60 café capri's on offer right now. Sounds like a lot to me, even if they sell well. I really think they need to edit down their merchandise, in part so that so much of it doesn't end up in huge sale sections.

  16. I don't know if I should put this here or not, but I received the Scarf Sweater in the other colorway today--a preorder, with 25% off.

As others have noted, the thickness of the sweater made it tight on my arms, though the body fit fine. I think I would like to try this in a small, instead of my usual XS. But I also have to say--I'm not sure about the color. The sweater is a dark gray, with scarlet and teal and white details. I think I had expected slightly more harmonious colors. I will be curious if anyone else got this sweater and what you think.

    1. Thank you for posting this! I was really looking forward to seeing that sweater but i thought it was navy or black, I am disappointed to hear that it's dark grey. Is it the same price as the lighter grey/white version?

    2. Hi, I agree, I received mine today and it is not what I thought it would be. It is going back sadly

      Delete
    3. It's a totally weird greenish gray, if you can imagine that with real and scarlet.

      Delete
    4. Agree, so disappointed, it's going back and I ordered the grey one which I will for sure like better. It is GREEN! and weirdly thick...I was really hoping it was black or navy as well. fail.

    5. Thanks for these reports, ladies--I cancelled my pre-order. I wondered why the color was 'parsley'; it so looked to be navy or black :/

    6. I actually love mine -- and the colorway is very similar to the Valentino S/S 14 show that everyone's freaking out over. It's definitely fashion-forward but it'll look great with jeans and a light tan boot. To each his own!

  17. Totally OT but I bought the lace print sweatshirt of ebay recently and was supposed to be 'new'. I never tried in store so not sure what to truly expect. the black color looks faded to me and fading overall by the neckline hem and hem where the sleeves meet the body of the sweatshirt. Not to mention it reeks of awful perfume or detergent. Before I open a case I want to know if i'm wrong about what I received and that's how the sweatshirt is. any info would be totally appreciated!!

    1. Pretty sure my lace print sweatshirt looked kind of distressed even when new. I'll have to take a look at it when I get home. I think that's the look they were going for. I'm with you about feeling yuck about the stinky fragrance, though.

      Delete
    2. The fading I think is part of the intentional look. I actually purchased this sweatshirt 3 times retail before I finally kept it and am glad I did. That is too bad about the smell though.

      Delete
    3. Tx shopalot and rcb.shops for the info! I'm ok with the overall fadded look just wasn't sure about the excessive fading around the neckline and slv hem. I wouldn't have cared so much if i hadn't paid FP : ( Oh well win some lose some. time to try and air out the smell : )

  18. Ladies, there are new markdowns in store. Tweed-front merino sweatshirt (03969, 03773) are $89.99, drapey raglan sweatshirt (04811) is $39.99, warm cocoa Tippi (46725) is $59.99 and drapey elbow tees (82955) are $19.99 - this is before add'l 40%. I saw silk gingham tops, jeweled baseball sweaters, and Andie tuxedo chinos in the sale section as well but didn't check prices. Probably worth checking out if you've got a B&M nearby.

  22. I did stop by my B&M and they had 40% off sale items as already mentioned. I picked up the Painted Jewel Sweatshirt, ($89.99) Baguette Bib Necklace ($35/99) and Skinny Cargo Pants ($59.99) prior to discount. I was not sure about the sweatshirt but the SA convinced me :). They had a pretty good sale section. If anyone is looking for the Andie Tuxedo Stripe pants, they had size 4, 10 and 12 ($69.99) and other colors of Skinny Cargo Pants in quite a few sizes. This was the Park Meadows, Colorado store.

    3. ShopLV, the Murray, Utah BM had the full selection of sizes of the trompe l'oeil in gray on Saturday -- marked at 49.99. HTH.
