J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. If anyone is interested, I reviewed the Field Jacket (TTS, great deal and similar look to retail) and Anchor Sweater (soft and comfy) from J. Crew Factory here

  2. Additional 30% off sale items in-store & online with FALLSALE thru Sun, 10/20.

  3. I don't understand all the switching up of promos; it seems kind of random?

  4. Factory - New promo. SHIRT30 gets 30% off men's & women's shirts. Previous pomo prices are currently still in effect. and will flip very soon.

    That is all.

  5. OT but there is a 30% sale with code fallsale. However, this time, the promo items are excluded from the extra 30% off!! NOT COOL, Jcrew!

  6. I simply love the heavy silk shantung café capris, snatched them at 40% off, otherwise too expensive. Bought the green color, it is vibrant. They are lined. Fit probably a little smaller but can't wait to wear them with a black turtleneck and leopard flats. Very "Breakfast at Tiffanys."

  7. Anyone reviewed the schoolboy blazer in beaded tweed? Is it itchy? Just grabbed it using the instyle25 code when it popped back in my size. I think someone commented how your hair can get caught in the beaded collar - is it that bad? Also, anyone try on the wool bomber pea coat that is basically sold out? I'm petite so wondering how boxy it fits. And when does the instyle25 promo end?

    1. Thanks silver lining! Probably won't get anything else but good to know. Also, I'm sure they'll offer more full-price promos around the holidays.

    2. Kat, yes, IMO the beaded collar is terrible about catching hair. It's more annoying with each wearing. Have to wear it completely up. Also, if you have problems with wool being itchy, you may find the inside portion of the collar chafes a little (because you have to wear it popped, so it is directly on the neck. I have to wear a scarf. I still love the jacket and get tons of compliments but I am finding that it's not very comfortable to wear.

    3. I've been crazy about the jeweled and beaded phenon at jcrew and got a ton including the collection jeweled collar schoolboy from earlier this year and just realized I can't wear these pieces with a scarf ever. something always seems to get caught :(

  8. I got the Merino Knotted Scarf sweater in the parsley poppy jade last night. The colors are a bit more muted than they appear on the website, but I still love this sweater. It's a slim fitted sweater, but my usual size small fit fine. This will look beautiful with a red/orange pencil skirt. I'll be posting a detailed review on my blog as soon as I get a chance!

  9. The shirttail mini in wool runs large; size 00 has a 28" waist and 35" hip. The fabric is quite sturdy, 80% wool/20% nylon, and does tend to attract lint & pet hair. Not a great fit for my small, straight frame. See OperaRach's review (linked above) for pix -- definitely looks better on her than on me!

  11. OT but i reviewed some club monaco and madewell here. i think club monaco has a lot of jcrew-esque stuff and an unambiguous 20% off student discount.

i plan on visiting the b&m later today so will probably have a review post up tonight.

    3. Thanks silver_lining for the link! Ina, it's a fitted sweatshirt, so definitely if you want to wear something under it, you might want to size up. I like the fit of my true size, but am a little concerned that when I wash it, it's done for!

    5. FYI, I ordered the Bien Fait sweatshirt in September, was waitlisted until December, and then it shipped in early October and I received it last week. I ordered both size small and medium (typically in between the two) and wished I had gone up to a large, so I sent both sizes back. Hope that helps!

  14. I just received the Peter Pan Beaded Collar tee and it's super cute. I have pretty low expectations these days, but this exceeded them. It's a really nice thick cotton knit, and the fit is great (TTS). The collar is cute, and the beading is more subtle than the jewels, so I feel comfortable wearing it wherever during the day.

  15. M, I received my Peter Pan Beaded Collar tee today, too. I really like it but mine has to go back. The collar is not beaded all the way around on one side. So sad about it because it is very cute AND the sleeves are full length!

  16. Review of the Wool A-Line Mini, Shirttail Mini, and Boucle Bomber HERE.

  17. just got packages last night so this review is a little late but i hope it helps someone :)

    Retail:
Wool A-Line skirt (07428): bought this in black. similar to last year's version of the sterling skirt (which i prefer). lighter weight wool too so i think i'll get more use out of it. took my regular skirt size. keeper for me.

Diamond Tile tee (07605): i was really worried because this looks super boxy but it actually fit really well. a little more sheer than i'd like but overall a keeper. went with the same size i've been in all the linen tees lately.

    Factory:
Straight and Narrow cords (17397): went with usual matchstick size. not as heavy a cord material as retail version. keeping dark artichoke. returning golden mustard (boyfriend called them banana pants and that was that)

Men's flannel lined chinos (20506): seem to be sold out online. bought usual size for boyfriend. not bulky. seem really warm. boyfriend is excited so that means a lot! :D

Men's fleece half zip hoodie (13878): called "hoodie" but no hood obviously. fits well in boyfriend's usual size. nothing over the top but a nice good staple. keeper.

  18. I should have known this from reading the online description, but the fair isle socks I ordered from Factory are more like the camp socks material, not the warmer wool-ish material I got last year. I might return them.
