Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the WINTER sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Union Sq. store still had the 30% off sale items. Quite a few wool pencil skirts in red and green. Also a few Jules in botanical print.

    3. I went as well, thought it was actually the most disappointing sale I have been to yet (fewer dresses and shoes than the other sales). I posted a longer review on the post about the sale.

    4. Thanks. I'll take a look at the post.

    5. i saw a few bow coats (in black in various sizes) and in fuchsia (size 0p, 2 and 4p). a lot of lady day coats (in white, one grey and a few black). "take a bow" sweaters were $10. i saw one lady purchasing FOUR of them in what looked like different sizes and tally people didn't say anything.

i actually found a LOT of shoes, they kept bringing out boxes throughout the sale. lots of cece ballet flats (suede and leather), mona pumps (suede, patent and leather), few janey pumps (mostly in apricot, neon and a few in jade), some everly pumps. i got two pairs of valentina pumps. i did not look at the boots but i think they were factory. i also dug out some shoes from the boxes with clothes, mostly display versions in size 61/2 and 7.

also got a pair of the pixie pants (the ones with leather sides) for $10. the silk maxi dresses were $15. found one bridesmaid-looking dress that would work for special occasions for $10.

the tally people did not differentiate between collection and regular jcrew. i got a linen collection blazer (from last summer) and i had to tell her that it was collection (and therefore $40). she gave it to me for $30 as a thank you.

did not see any handbags or jewelry but i got there pretty late on saturday, so maybe they were all gone by then.

    6. Aw! I have been checking the J Crew website religiously for the Bow Coat in fuchsia in a 0, 2 or even 4! Sad the sale wasn't anywhere close to me!

    2. Thanks so much. I figured it was sometime in April but that is pretty "late" April. Oh well. Will be saving lots of $$:)

  4. Just wondering if anyone has seen and/or tried the no. 2 pencil skirt in neon tweed yet? Would be anxious to know your thoughts. Thanks!

    1. Hi there, I have this skirt. It's a thicker fabric, very nice quality. The neon aspect is a little exaggerated...the yellow is a muted yellow, and the pink is close to the vivid fuchsia color J Crew puts out. The base color of the skirt is close to what I would call eggshell. I found the skirt to fit small to size. I always wear a 0 in Crew skirts, and I took a 2 in this one (as well as the clover skirt). I was smashed into the 0 and the 2 was fitting me like a typical Crew skirt. I do really like this skirt, very versatile for Spring. I find the Clover skirt to be more striking in person, but I will be keeping this skirt for sure!

    2. Thanks, Heather! Sounds great. Have you tried the cotton lined no. 2's? Wondering if they fit the same as the wool ones...

      Delete
    3. They fit, imo, more snugly at first zip and then loosen up a good deal throughout the day. I don't care for the cotton no. 2's as they are made of the kind of stiff cotton that wrinkles horribly with every twist and turn. The melon color is really pretty irl...but, I remind myself how bad it will look all wrinkled up halfway through the day!

  5. Anyone try or buy the Midnight Floral Tee? Thoughts? Is there black in the print or does it just read navy?

I am obsessed with that print for some reason, I think it would coordinate with half my closet. Thanks!

    1. Hi ruffles! I really like this tee too! It says in the description that it has black and blues? Shopping With M reviewed it on her blog. You can click on the link on the right side of this blog.

  6. I saw some factory stuff IRL this weekend but did not buy anything because it's still 30 degrees outside. I can wait!

The neon stone and crystal necklace - they aren't kidding when they use the worn neon, at least for the pink/orange version. The stones are so neon they are almost glowing! The spearmint version is much more subdued.

The watercolor floral cardigan is not as striking in person as the merino retail one from last year. I was really disappointed. The colors look somewhat lighter or more washed out in person than the website photo depicts.

The swirling lace dress is reeeeally adorable and I want it. It looks longer in person that it looks on the website.

    2. Kelly L-G, I also saw a size 4 cocoon coat in dublin green. I was actually returning it for another size so it was definitely there on Saturday. The store was at Tysons Corner VA. HTH!

    3. Also saw a Dublin green cocoon coat in size 4 in the Westport,CT store.

    4. Thank you guys! I will call and check it out. Lauren, were you returning because it was too big or too small? I wear a 4/6 and I was going to go with the smaller of the two sizes.

    5. Kelly L-G, definitely get the smaller of your two sizes! I was exchanging it for a 2 and it looked so much better.

    6. Kelly L-G, I'm your size, and I have the coat in a size 4. Definitely go for that one!

    3. Yes, I'm in Canada. Only international? That's unusual. Often the other way round.

    4. Yay! Finally a code for Internationals! Thanks J Crew!
Shame I'm supposed to be on a 'buy nothing' regime..... I fear my budgetary resolve will be tested if there are new arrivals before the weekend!

  9. I went to my area store this weekend. The new arrivals are fab. Tippis were on sale for $59.50. Final sale was 30 percent off. I picked up a new pair of shorts in a great print and a dotted boy shirt on final sale (score!).

The SA told me that the hummingbird shoes featured on the cover of the March Style Guide are already sold out. I found that funny since the style guide hasn't even arrived in the mail yet.

The Camille dress caught my eye. My store only had the neon rose. It was REALLY neon. If I was a youngin in my 20s, I would totally rock it, but the color is a bit too cray cray for me in my old age. I'm hoping they release it in some lighter colors.

I sincerely hope J. Crew is sending me a cardholder code that some JCAs said they got yesterday. Not a fan of these games.

  10. Hey Liza,

I went to the sale as well and found alot of great things. For example, I got the black and white etta cap toe heel, silver bow ballets flats, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 slacks, and 2 sweaters. I thought the prices were the best I have ever seen. However, the line was long to get in and there were many resellers there, its sad because the workers know who they are but do nothing. You can spot them out because there grabing every show possible (not looking at sizes). A worker told me that they pay the college students to shop for them so they can get around the 500 dollar limit. I wish Jcrew would get real about the resellers because I know I do. If I want something and I see a male or female reseller picking up everything, I ask them for my size or I am telling. Yes, I will tell. These resellers by things for a fraction of the amount and than mark it up. Sorry but find another way to do business. Also, I agree that Jamie Adkins is a reseller. Alexis come get her!

    1. Dear Pressed,
I voluntarily removed my post since it somehow is offensive to you, but as a fellow JCA it is hurtful to read a comment such as yours about me. My post was in response to Liza's question about the warehouse sale, which I attended.
I enjoy going to those sales since I live in the area and love J Crew. As I'm sure you know it is not allowed that you try on the clothes at the sale, so I often buy many items and then the ones that don't fit me I sell on Ebay. I don't think that makes me a "reseller", but obviously that would depend on your definition. I don't sell j crew clothes as a "business" but mainly to move along items that don't fit ME.
I know the "rules" of the blog and was not posting to promote myself, but to try to make a helpful comment on my experience at the sale.

    2. When I saw your comment and then someone calling you a reseller, I was surprised! I didnt get that idea from what you said at all.

      Delete
    3. hannah L, did you click the link to the eBay store? There were many items in a variety of sizes (not just a few "oops" items that you might have regretted purchasing after the sale and needed to unload) and most of them are being sold for much more than the prices the items were at the sale. Selling for profit = reseller. It is not wrong to be a reseller, but if you are, you are not allowed to use this blog as a platform to publicize your listings. It really rubbed me the wrong way.

      Delete
    4. I personally do not have any problem with any reseller.

I live in CA (thank god I do not live in Virginia), and so it is next to impossible for me to get to any warehouse sales. Therefore, if someone wants to clean up old/beaten down inventory and go through the hassle of list/retail/return, be my guest.

If JCrew is aware of their existence and does nothing, that means it wants a third party to clean up this old inventory as it is costing them more to take care of hassles of listing/market/return these items than just to liquidate them. Don't forget most of the merchandize at Jcrew are "made in China", and I am sure they are enjoying a pretty thick profit margin from the extremely low (slave like) wages of the poor workers in China.

However, I do agree some sort of priority should be given to true end users than resellers. I guess at this point, if you are an end user and want a good deal, you will need a devise a really good strategy for bargain hunting against resellers.

I hope I do not offend anyone. I see resellers no different from house flippers or day traders. If they make bad decision, they get stuck with bad merchandize at a loss.

    6. Hello ladies, apologies for arriving late to this discussion.

If you do not know if you are a reseller, or think you are on the borderline of being one, please feel free to check with me before posting! Send me an email (jcrewaficionada at yahoo dot com).

How do you define a reseller? Although it is hard to define for some, there are some flags that point to whether one is or not. If someone is selling a variety of sizes (from size 2 to size 12) then this is usually an indicator that someone is a reseller. Also, if someone is selling a lot of items that are new (NWOT or NWT), then it is another sign one might be. Moreover, a reseller is not just limited to those who are huge in terms of selling 1000s of items (like some others who are well known, well rated, and well liked by their customers). But it does mean that the JCA blog's Weekly Exchange, and related posts, is really *not* the place to be posting about your listings.

I should add that I have heard from a handful of JCAs who have started their own small business and asked if they could use the exchange as a place to sell. My answer has and is always the same- I am thrilled for the latest venture, however the exchanges are for individual sellers only, so unfortunately the answer is no (they cannot use the exchange to promote their business).

I want to add that re-sellers are always welcomed to share their thoughts and opinions on this blog when it comes to J.Crew. They definitely have a wealth of knowledge that is valuable. The only thing I ask of resellers is to not post about their business in the Weekly Exchanges. I also have to rely on the JCA community to self police, which I also ask be done in a courteous way, so we can keep this community running smoothly.

Thank you for your time! :)

  11. Faint rumbling about a 15% VPS in-store shopping promo to roll out next week. And I mean rumbling. It was very vague, so we'll see.

If you are a cardholder and didn't receive a 20% code, you can ask customer service or your vps to honor the promo. They were pretty good about it last time. I'll be asking for it if I decide to buy something as I didn't receive the email.

Check out the update to the Regular Price Irl Pic Guide. There are links to review of some items not yet online. The product name for those is in black (no purple link).

  13. I went this weekend, mainly because I wanted to pick up the Grand stone bracelet for the online sale price plus the 30%. I also picked up the new shoe scarf on sale, not sure if it has been noted here but it is $39.99 in stores. The store looked great so many of the new pieces were out. I wish I rec'd the promo code.

  15. I saw the Glass Petals necklace, it is totally neon, totally disappointed!

I tried on the Lillian Wedge (Suede Low) sandals in Honey Brown color. I really like these, but I'll wait for a sale if I get them.

Also tried on the Liberty Peasant blouse in Lodden Paisley. This was the most unflattering thing I've put on in a long time. I hope it looks good on somebody, but I think this style is hard to wear. The print is absolutely gorgeous, and I really wanted to like it.

The Twisted Stitch sweater was very nice too.

I didn't get any of these things, but it was fun to check them out. I did not see any skunks!

    1. Robin C, it's a beautiful blouse, it just didn't flatter me. I thought it was very roomy, but surprisingly not too short (I'm 5'4" for reference). I tried on the size Medium (usual for me at J. Crew) and I think it was the right size but very airy/breezy through the torso. I think the sleeves were bracelet length. I probably could have worn a Small in this, but maybe then the length would have been too short. Summary: TTS or runs large. It's hard to tell when the style is unstructured. I hope it works for you! The print is really special.

    2. Thanks so much cate! I'm going to stick to the size I ordered and cross my fingers. I really want to love it!
