Secret Sale at J.Crew {in store only}

"Thanks!" to Shopping Celle & GigiOfCa (in this post), as well as Kelly, who shared the following news: J.Crew is offering a secret sale of 20% off {women's only} apparel and accessories at brick and mortar (B&M) stores.

This sale runs from tomorrow, Wednesday, February 27, through Sunday, March 3, 2013. This sale does specifically exclude men's merchandise, women's jewelry, and shoes. Moreover, this sale may not be combined with other discounts.

This extra percent off makes new arrivals look extra enticing! Plus, customers do not have to worry about any purchase being "final sale". (A huge bonus in my book!)

It is unclear how many B&M stores across the country will be participating in this promotion. Definitely worth a visit if you live near a store or a call beforehand to find out.

Is your store offering this "secret sale"? Will you be checking out the Secret Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

P.S. Apologies to many JCAs for not emailing back quickly, as well as keeping up with J.Crew news on this blog, as I should. This week (and last week) has been crazy hectic for me. I am hoping to catch up by the weekend. :)

  1. I recvd an email from my vps. I would imagine this is nationwide. Thank goodness for JCA so we can all know about it. There are always stores who don't share the secret with all customers that walk in.

Hope things are well and it's a 'good' busy, Alexis. You should never apologize for you do an amazing job here. There's plenty w/the auto-posts to keep us chatting and helping each other ;)

    1. Also, I guess the 30% off final sale in-store will be pulled? Looking forward to early reports on that one.

    2. Yes the 30% off ended today. So the 20% off will apply to sale merchandise tomorrow as I was told.

    3. I went today - 30% in store isn't happening but it was 20% off except for shoes and jewelry.

    4. Thanks Gigi for understanding! Hopefully I can get back to neutral by the end of the week. :)

  2. What she said!

and thanks for the tip, Alexis! I plan to grab as much as I can carry to try on at home - I'm one of the small but vocal minority who can't bear dressing rooms.

    1. wff, I am with you. I can bear the dressing room, but I hit critical mass at some point in a store and have to try on at home. I can't make good decisions in dressing rooms.

    2. WFF, agreed! Even more so in the winter because their is so much more stuff to take off and put back on! It drives my husband crazy because I usually wait until the last minute to return things.

  3. My VPS texted me with this info today, but happy that Alexis shared as we know many sa's won't mention it (which is crazy!). My VPS said that this was good for sale, too, so the extra 30% must be leaving for at least this weekend. I plan to visit Saturday and agree that I'm glad this coincides with new arrivals.

  4. My store is participating! So, this seems like it is separate from the 20% cardholder discount that was sent in email (which I assume is a one-time use). If I bought something in the store with the secret sale, that would not use up my cardholder 20% off discount, would it? Thanks.

  5. I received an email today with a unique code for 20% and free shipping for the website. I think it applies on sale too, as it does not specifically exclude sale items.

  6. When I asked today I was told that the 20% one time code is for online only and the 20% off all women's clothing is in store. The 30% off sale signs were gone from my local store today.

  8. Wow! I just got the new catalog and I love a lot of things:

    1) On the second page of the catalog, there is what seems to be an eyelet-kind white skirt that looks gorgeous! I don’t know what that skirt is tough as they only refer to the jeweled Janey’s on the page… :-(
    2) On page 25 – Linen Schoolboy Blazer in bronzed moss – I hope it is more of a gold tone as it looks like in the catalog.
    3) I haven’t bitten on the Liberty prints yet, but I loved the outfit on page 32: Liberty Cafe Capri in June’s Meadow Floral with a striped shirt. I think the outfit could look nice on me, but I guess everyone would be looking at it/me if I wore it! There are some things that look wonderful on a catalog/model only, not sure if this is one of them. (?)
    4) Page 40 – I like the embroidered daisy, but $228? For a cotton tee?
    5) Like the Mari sandals in Portabello Mushroom..but how many “nude” shoes does one need? (I have the apricot mist Janeys, the bronzed clay Martinas from Factory – which by the way seemed very comfortable when I tried on - the Madewell version of the Vivs in the nude color and another nude pump.. ) How many of them have I worn so far? None!!
    6) Love the Lillian wedges… would prefer if the material was leather as opposed to suede though.. Favorite color? Honey brown!

Regarding the minnies, I love them, I wished they were regular length. Next time I will definitely buy them in regular size ( I wear petites) and have them tailored later on the waist and legs.. I have done that with capris and it worked well, although it is an extra expense to get them tailored.

All of the above to say that I am not think the 20% is still worth for me.. if it could only be combined with my student discount.. The problem is that prices are still high and my patience to wait for a sale very low.. but it is really hard to make a decision once you know that maybe in 3 months some of these items once they go on sale and with an additional promo, can be purchase for about 40% off of their full price..

Sorry to post this here, I really didn’t know what was the better p[lace to post it. I would love to hear your thoughts.

    Thanks for reading me! :-)

  22. I stopped in today to get a price adjustment for a few liberty items I bought at FP over the weekend, and I thought it was weird that there were no signs about the 20% off. Then a SA came up and almost whispered it to me -- like it really was a secret. I don't get the marketing strategy. The items I got adjusted were the Tresco skirt and perfect shirt, and the June's Meadow matchsticks, and I added a new two-toned blush (two shades of blush -- a very pretty neutral) invitation clutch. (BTW, for those who like the merino peter pan liberty sweaters, they are on sale for $80 before the 20% off; also the June's Meadow perfect shirt is on promo online for $120 although not in stores) The manager of this particular store (Tyson's) is weird too -- she told the SA ringing me up to "give her the price adjustment this one time; we don't adjust for special promotions", referring to me in 3rd person even though I was standing right there. I said, it's okay then, I'll just RETURN these items and purchase them again, it doesn't matter to me. And she said, "I SAID, we'll do it THIS ONE TIME." Ick. All the SAs that I have worked with there have been great; I just don't get her...

    1. How rude of her to say that! Once again, it makes me wonder about J Crew. Do they want to sell us clothes or not? Just about every other store has signs indicating a sale, both inside the store and out. Not J Crew -- it's a SECRET!

  23. Does anyone know if we can use the red phone in store to order catalog/online only items with the discount?
