J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including AD MD & Tammy (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here). Unfortunately, the latest catalog (click here to view) is not yet available to view.

As many of you have already noticed and mentioned, many of the new arrivals on J.Crew's website are already available in J.Crew's brick & mortar stores.

My top pick is still the Stripe Necklace Sweater (item 86132; $148). What is not to love about a sweater that includes its own accessory. The built-in necklace takes out the guesswork of what to wear with the top. The only down side? Dry clean only. I can only imagine what would happen to the crystals in a washing machine... not good.

My other thoughts on what I love:
  • Silk-Collar Tee (item 59448; $75.00): Just a simple short sleeve top with a simple peter pan collar. But I love it. It seems so perfectly chic. I will take one in both colors please!
  • Peony Tee (item 99196; $45.00): J.Crew was known for coming out with the best designed tees for Women. However, the past couple of years the designs were meh. Well, they are making a comeback with this adorable top. The design is so pretty, I want to frame it!
  • Bright Droplet Necklace (item 01165; $58.00): This necklace reminds me of one J.Crew offered in yellow many years ago. It is such a delicate, lovely piece! I must not be the only one who likes this piece because it is already wait-listed.
  • Enameled Dolphin Bangle (item 76949; $98.00): Not only do I love the colors and the overall jewel design, it is shaped like a dolphin. This bracelet is adorable!
My thoughts on what I question:
  • Hugo Guinness for J.Crew Cashmere Terrier Sweater (item 38838; $398.00): Much like the "Darling" sweater, it's cute. It reminds me of J.Crew's Scottie Sweater (which I own and love!) But not at that price. Yikes!
  • Collection Dot Gauze Shell (item 31940; $128.00): Is it just me, or does this top look see-through? No thank you. Pass for me.
  • Indigo Floral Quilted Jacket (item 63825; $228.00): I saw this jacket in my local store. The print is very pretty and the fabric is very soft. However, all I could think about it was that it looks like a Vera Bradley print.
  • Lightweight Washed Chambray Dress (item 52424; $118.00): Good luck J.Crew selling this sack-of-potatoes dress! I have no doubt a JCA could make this look fabulous with the right accessories and layering. But by itself, this dress is a hot mess.
  • Let's Bring Back By Lulu Frost Impromptu Necklace (item 89075; $360.00). One word: Yuk.

Exciting news! J.Crew is offering free shipping on all orders (no min!) with promo code FREESHIP. This amazing offer expires March 3, 2013.

Side Note: I wanted to mention that the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1140+ items) and Men (495+).

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. What I liked:

--Catie dress (don't need such a dress, however)

--Peplum jacket in tonal tweed (Nice!)

--Twisted stitch sweater (Will try in the champagne color and hope it's not sheer)

--Embroidered eyelet tank (I think I'm getting this one in the rose color)

--Schoolboy blazer in crosshatch linen (Brozed Moss color is intriguing)

--Collection painter's rose dress (Beautiful cotton fabric and cut, but again, don't need such a dress)

As usual, disappointed with the pants....nothing but low rise.

Noticed the pink Scalloped ballet flats Michelle Obama was wearing when she did her "mom dance" with Jimmy Fallon.

    1. Meredith, I tried on the Twisted Stitch sweater in the champagne color in the store. The knit is thick and I did not notice it being sheer. I like it too.

    2. Thanks cate...I think I'll give the sweater a try.

  2. Every year I buy one or two of the featherweight v-necks. They've been silk/linen, linen and this year cotton. I like a few colors this seasons so I will likely pick up a few. They are stapes for me in the desert where I go from heat to overly air conditioned.

I generally don't wear florals and I never wear pink, yet I'm drawn to the peony tee and I'm pretty sure I'll order it!

The pintuck wool-silk pant looks right up my alley. I thought one of the choices was ivory, turns out it's pink. I don't need another pair of navy so I'll be passing on these.

Checked out a few dresses, noticed there is an actual length listed. I am grateful, but on the other hand knowing I'm sized out of everything length wise is rather depressing. A 36" hem hits me almost mid-thigh.

The suiting pencil skirt in cotton tweed is an exciting find. I am getting that for sure!

How cute are the espadrille ballet flats?!

    1. Ditto on 36" hitting at mid-thigh. I bought a really well made dress from Banana Republic that looks like a honeycomb print and it is sooooo flattering and well made and guess what...hits at/below my knees.

  3. Could somebody comment on the micro tweed jacket?
    Is is TTS?

    1. Yes, I thought it was tts. I took a size Small and wear a size Small in sweaters, size 2 in perfect shirts. The length hit me just as it does the model. The top of the sleeves at the shoulders kind of bubbled up, which just looked as if it was not very well tailored, so I would take it to a seamstress and have it fitted properly. Also would take the sleeves up to a 3/4 length. It is not lined, and the material is lightweight. The material felt OK on bare arms, it was soft and flexible so you could push the sleeves up. It has 2 pockets on front and what I didn't like is you could see the backside of them flapping on the inside as it was unlined and the pockets were not tacked down. Just looked odd enough for me to not purchase.

  4. Um...am I totally crazy for wanting the Liberty print baseball cap? It is totally unrealistic but so freakin' adorable!

Also loving the silk collar tee. Has anyone tried that on yet?

For anyone interested in the new Schoolboy in indigo dot that came online today, I have a review w/pics here.

    1. Well, there is a flower cap ( brighter colours) at H&M for 9.95!

    2. I LOVE the liberty baseball cap too, but $78 is insane. Even $58 would have been too much, but at least closer to a fathomable price. Geez. Sorry, cranky today.

  5. The "Let's bring back by Lulu Frost Impromptu Pin" Item #88944 reminds me of Gary Busey's teeth. Ick

  6. And what is Lulu Frost "Bringing Back"? Ugly?

  7. Love the Indigo Floral Quilted jacket. Might use my coupon for it:) Don't care for the Peony tee. Thought I would but the flower is WAY TOO BIG for my tastes.

AppGal, that Liberty cap is cute!

    1. There is another quilted jacket out that is black background with ecru stitching for the pattern. I saw it on Wellfedfred's blog. HAS ANYONE SEEN IT IN STORES YET?

And yes, Alexis, it is VERY Vera Bradley but is a "trend" right now.

For example, here is Isabel Marant's original jacket which I think other designers are imitating:

    2. Hmm, my mistake. Maybe her photo was of the Indigo version and not black at all.

  8. Loving some of the bathing suits, especially the Midnight Paisley bikini (item 53230). I am sad that it's one of the tops that won't be available in a D cup. I really like that J.Crew offers D cups but they're inconsistent in which styles get it.

    1. I am in love with the new Midnight Paisley bikini too, roxy. The print and colors are so pretty. :)

  9. Overall, meh.

There are only two things I would really like to own, and they are both reminiscent of ye old J.Crew of yore. Not a coincidence.

The eyelet top which looks to be made of nice material and is adorable, but I question the length. It could have the effect of making the wearer look wide and awful. I also wonder how that chest seam will work on those of us who are endowed in that area. Probably not well. Darn it!

The Loretta dress in eyelet is adorable and the style is timeless!

Agree the new Lulu Frost jewels are bringing back ugly (good one, jbird!) and I am hating the wide variety of Etta heels. That heel is so high and chunky... wouldn't be caught dead in those.

The Lillian suede low wedges are cute, but $178 is absurd for a pair of sandals and I am sure I can find something nearly identical at Marshall's for $29.99.

AppGal, the liberty hat is adorable and I feel like you could totally pull it off!

    1. @JCrewJD, I tried the eyelet top on in the store last week...it caught my eye immediately, however, it was incredibly boxy and sort of billowed out in a weird way that made me look wide. The length surprisingly wasn't bad though (I'm 5'8". I'm not sure sizing down would have helped the issue, based on how the rest of top fit (tighter through the sleeve and shoulders). The eyelet is so pretty though!

      Delete
    2. shopmurphy, that is so sad to hear. I kind of figured that would be the case though. The sera top did the same thing (made me look wide) and I wouldn't buy it if it was on final sale for $5. Darn it! Thank you so much for your review!

      Delete
    3. I wish they made it in black. I love black eyelet in the summer. It is listed as 22" on the website, and I compared it the teardrop lace top which is the same, and is OK for my long torso, so I might try this.

      Delete
  10. I really like the purple peony tee. Not sure I want to spend $45 on a tee though.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I missed the pointe dress last fall and love the short-sleeved version. I wonder how the seam up the middle of the torso would look. I wish they'd introduce more a-line skirts though!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Love the pink tweed jacket, the poppy tee and the eyelet skirts (I normally dislike eyelet, but I love these skirts!)

Anyone know the in-store price of the Mila captor flats?

    ReplyDelete
  13. OT - I got the email for new arrivals. At the top they re-sent my 20%+free shipping code (it's the same code I got before). If you didn't get a code you may want to double-check the new arrivals email!

    ReplyDelete
  14. After seeing a lot of the items in store last week, there's not a ton that I 'have' to have right now.
That being said, I liked the striped shirttail dress and circle eyelet capris, but will probably wait for both to hit sale.

I have a few weddings this summer and the Catie dress caught my eye...would like to find out how long it is but I might consider getting this with the current promotion going on.

I also love the darling sweater but not for $400.

I'm surprised the cotton cafe capris aren't out yet for spring but maybe they'll be in the next rollout.

    ReplyDelete
  15. On my mobile jcrew site the ensemble pictured, while lovely, looks nothing like spring. Looks more like. a September catalog cover.

    ReplyDelete
  16. There's a couple of things I really like from this roll out that nobody has mentioned yet. I really love the boldness of the Liberty Tresco floral print. I'm tempted by the postage stamp mini (Item 47941) or the invitation clutch (Item 85645) in that print.

The embroidered eyelet tank (Item 38396) looks sweet, but I own a couple of tops that are similar (the Rococo top from last year).

I love the metallic Vega sandals, but I'd have to see them in person to see if the cutouts look weird against the skin. Its funny that someone mentioned the large amounts of Ettas and their dislike for chunky heels, but I happen to like that aesthetic -- I like stilettos, too, but I enjoy the chunky heels for a more casual look. Also, while I agree with Alexis that the chambray dress is troublesome, I think those lightweight washed chambray pants eek out the first place finish in the {huh?} category.

One last thing is that I wonder if the seersucker Cafe Capris (Item 88235) match the jacket or the skirt from last year. They are unfortunately *not* the same seersucker, so I can't wear them as a summer suit. I hope the Capris match the jacket from last year.

Also (sorry, one last, last thing), I thought that the June's Meadow Floral shorts were listed at 4" in the catalog. They are 5" on the website. I'll have to check my catalog tonight. I'd prefer them in the 4" length. That's my go to length for J. Crew chino shorts.

    1. I like the looks of the embroidered eyelet tank too. I think I like the neckline on it better than the Rococo top.

  17. Love:

The prints, especially hummingbird, bazaar, June's Meadow. And (if you can believe it given my past posts) I think LuLu Frost's Absinthe necklace is truly gorgeous and special. As noted by others, the other LuLu Frost stuff is really bad.

    Loathe:

Tacky darling sweater, icky studded and printed shoes, pink lady jackets that we've seen before (and are still seeing in the sale section).

  18. There are several new arrivals I'm interested in this time: Boy shirt in stripe linen, Peony tee, Indigo floral popover, Midnight paisley bikini, to name a few. Love the June's Meadow print, and the Liberty ball cap is pretty cute, too.

Btw, when I add the Peony tee to my cart, the image that shows up is for the Purple Poppy tee. Anyone else experience this?

    1. I forgot to add that it's really great to see the Free Shipping on all orders too! :)

      Delete
    2. Yes, it showed the purple poppy in my cart too. I decided against it bec it will be too sheer for me, I don't care for the little pocket on the chest (thanks JCAs for pointing that out) and my linen tees from last year have holes in them. :(

      Delete
  19. I am always so excited for the new arrivals!
The only must-have pieces for me right now are the Espadrille Flats, and something eyelet. I picked up the Midnight Floral Tee yesterday with the 20% in-store, and I am still crushing on the Hummingbird print ... the minaudiere is absolutely adorable.

I will pass on the sparkle-encrusted items - the sequined Ettas and bejeweled knits. It seems like there are so many of them this season, and they don't work for the office or hold up well with cleaning/wear. And, they feel kind of dated to me. I went through my J.Crew sequin-and-sparkle phase, right after my J. Crew ruffle phase ...

    1. I would worry that the striped necklace merino tee would be pretty costly to have dry cleaned. It did not sound like the necklace was removable. Something to keep in mind.

  20. I bit on the Indigo Floral Popover (fingers crossed that it is neither short nor boxy), the Postage Stamp Mini in Scatter Dot (I'm actually REALLY excited to get my hands on this one), and the Skinny Patent Belt in Black (I kept waiting for the black patent Bow belt from last year to hit sale and it never did). I'm withholding judgement on the graphic tees until others report back on whether or not they are a)short, b)sheer, or c)develop holes on the 2nd wash. The hummingbird print is SO gorgeous, but I have no occasions coming up for which I can justify buying any of the pieces in that print. I had a minor freak out over all of the pastel cashmere, but the prices are a total no-go for me.

You could create a pretty decent replica of that trendy $400 "Darling" sweater, or even the Scottie Dog sweater, for less than $25 using a sized-down Target sweatshirt and a bleach pen. Just sayin'.

    1. Love the darling sweater, but the price is INSANE! You can definitely DIY, a version of this yourself! Wonder if Forever 21 will come out with a knock off! :)

    2. I am torn about the Indigo Floral Popover. It is probably the same length as the other popovers, but I'd like it a bit longer. The fabric is very substantial. It feels great on, but it is not the shape of other J. Crew popovers. It is very roomy (probably meant to be). I got a very old school J. Crew vibe from it (and I mean 1980s old-school, not 2000+). I can't decide if I love it or if it's too much. Did you see it has smocking on the back? That's great for me because it is really comfortable with that stretch in the shoulders.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, I bought it for the same reason I bought the Madewell silk floral blouse that I ended up returning: I want a floral blouse and I'm having trouble finding "the one". The only other J.Crew popover I own is the black/cream cotton/silk polka dot from 2 years ago, and I like that one a lot despite it's fragility, so I thought I'd take a shot with the indigo. We'll see if it gets returned as well....

      Delete
    4. This material is quite a bit thicker. It's more of a shirt than a blouse. Let me know how you like it! I'm on the fence.

      Delete
    5. Did you get it in your usual size? I love print and wonder if I should size down. TIA

      Delete
    6. maryeb, if you were asking about the Indigo Floral Popover, I think you could probably size down. I tried on my usual M, but also the Small and I could have worn either. I got the Medium in case I shrink it and because I never size down in tops with sleeves and thought I would regret it if I did.

      Delete
    7. The indigo floral popover was about the only thing that really grabbed my attention. It's sitting in my basket... I had thought I'd get an xs, but now I'm thinking I should go the xxs.
      Thanks for feedback!

  24. OT: Everyone seems to rave about their VPS, I was assigned one who never returned my email. Called another and while she was immensely helpful in finding what I desperately needed, I never got the shipping confirmation she told me to expect. Emailed her and got no response. Left her a VM today and still no response.

What is the level of service I should be expecting? I know they have a bunch of clients, I just wasn't sure how this works. So far for me, it's been less than VERY PERSONAL. I wanted to order some new arrivals through her today, but at this rate, I'll just do it myself.

    1. Ha and she JUST called me back... OF COURSE!!

    2. I would also like to know about what should be expected from a VPS. The one who contacted me is often out of the office and doesn't reply to my messages until I am about to give up.

      Delete
    3. My experience has been that the first time one of them works with you, he/she is terrific, and then -- radio silence.

Except once: after I placed an order with "whoever answered the phone," I received an email from the VPS who wasn't calling back, in which he said he was writing to remind me that HE was my VPS and was standing by to help me. Yeah, right.

  25. I'm intrigued by the ecru colored jeans but they are online only?

The skunk print seemed more amusing when we had scanned pics of the catalog; not so sure now.

The Lulu Frost Teeth necklace is sold out? Really? Who bought it?

I seem to like subtle stripes more than bold ones so the Paris Pink striped top is cute to me. I wonder if the fabric is substantial.

Not a fan of the Indigo Jacket now that I see the back yoke. That big print on the yoke looks like a western shirt IMO.

I thought the piping on the quilted Liberty jacket in Chive floral was an oversized collar but it's just black piping.

  26. A few things I really like:

ELBOW-SLEEVE TEE IN STRIPE WITH ANCHOR
Item 40200- I am still a sucker for anything with an anchor on it.

LIBERTY PEASANT TOP IN LODDEN PAISLEY
Item 49813- Love this print! Hope the shape isn't too boxy.

LIBERTY 5" CHINO SHORT IN JUNE'S MEADOW FLORAL

Love love love, that the shorts are actually 5 inches, instead of 3! I wish more of the shorts were this length! I also weirdly like the skunk pattern blouse, but the price point is too high for me! Hoping it comes down, to something more reasonable. Same with the hummingbird print pants. Very cute, but very pricey! And I am ordering the Peony tee, since I suspect it will sell out fast. :) I swear, I do not need to spend more money on ANYTHING from this rollout.

  31. I love the:

1.) Stripe Gauze Cardigan in Mocha Mint Navy (especially the way the model has it tucked into her pencil skirt)
2.) The Carrie Cami. Very classic J.Crew but the colors are so pretty and spring and fresh and I love the t-back
3.)The Secretary Blouse in Hummingbird floral. I know this design is very "busy" but I loveee it! I think it is SO pretty and unique and lovely for spring. I have a very neutral wardrobe and love the way this would liven it up at work (it just needs to go on sale lol)
4.)The Mila Novelty Ballet flats. I am surprised, honestly, I haven't seen these popping up on more blogs. What a cute shoe and the blue and gold go really well together. You could easily wear these al spring and summer.
5.)The Tartine Satchel. Am I the only one who thinks this is reminiscent of a Celine bag? It's just as good of quality and muchhh less expensive.

  37. Has anyone seen the stripe t-shirt w/the floral pattern over it? It looks cute, but in person, could be awful. Would love to hear if anyone has seen it in person? I absolutely LOVE the Gladiator Wedges, but will hold out for a markdown, if I get them at all b/c I truly don't need them. I live in my Kork-Ease wedge sandals, so it'd be redundant to buy them. But wow, love them!

I think I'll grab the peony t-shirt, and possibly that stripe/floral pattern tee. Otherwise, I'll hold out for sale on the striped maxi skirt and white ankle matchstick jeans or try the Factory version (would love comments on the difference between retail Matchsticks and the Factory version. My wardrobe these days is pretty much all jeans/casual skirts, etc.. I just don't need the dressy stuff, although I like some of it.

  39. I bought the humingbird blouse, peony tee and june meadow shorts. I am loviing the the 5" length on the shorts. Loved most of the dresses as usual but holding back for now.

    1. I also love the 5" length - super flattering and I don't have to be worried about trying to pull them down all day.

  40. The Sciaparelli (sp?) necklace is a reference to a design trope like this: http://pinterest.com/pin/121737996148918490/

No, perhaps, everyone's cup of tea. But I agree that Absinthe necklace is to die for. I'm so glad that Lulu Frost is continuing her collaboration.

I love everything--but see less this time that I could fit into my wardrobe. Oddly. The hummingbird print is beautiful, but it's on all the ambitious pieces of clothing--pants, expensive dress, etc. Not sure I can find a way to work it in. The pieces last time were more accessible to me.

Finally--I stopped by today and picked up the striped Schoolboy, which is on sale, and then was marked down an extra 20%. Not that I would have known about the 20% if it weren't for all you fine folk . . .

Oh. And I tried on that peter pan collar eyelet blouse. Cute. But short and boxy. A pass for me.

    1. What is the price of the striped schoolboy in store? TIA!

    2. I think it's around $130--same as online.

  41. I really thought I had to have the ankle cuff pump after seeing in in the cataloge but then I saw it on the website...Not in love anymore, uh-huh, no way, no how! It sounds like most JCAs have found something they like but I will just have to wait for the next go around of new arrivals. Enjoy the new arrivals.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm a bit meh about this rollout.... Even though I live in a warm climate I much prefer J Crew's more wintery pieces.
My picks from the new arrivals are:
Hummingbird blouse (but the price! Wow!)
Indigo floral popover - looks v Isabel Marant to me
Jewelled sweatshirt - but bet I'd never wear it.

I really love the look of the new fan fringe necklace colour, but not at the Aus price!
I like the Lulu Frost Absinthe necklace too, but again too exxy.
Those other Lulu Frost pieces are just odd - very surreal gothic. My daughter would love them!

    1. Saw the indigo popover in store and thought the indigo color was bit faded- not the saturated blue seen online as I had hoped- oh well- there are other lovelies.

  43. The only thing I ordered from this rollout is the Eyelet Top. I really like the Loretta dress in eyelet but I'm holding out for a sale, especially since it will be months before I can possibly wear it! I also really love the Invitation clutch in the Tresco floral print, but I'm not paying $148.

I received two 20% & FS coupons (don't know how that happened!), and only used one. The first person to email me gets it!

  44. Noticed the Liberty peasant top in June's Meadow floral was already in the sale section. I believe it was marked $79.99. This was the North Michigan Avenue store in Chicago.

  45. I would be interested in knowing whether the hummingbird print matches at the seams in the dress and skirt. I was looking at the skirt but that would be a deal breaker for me unless it was major on sale.

  47. Am I the only one turned off by how thin that peony tee is? Tried it on and while it's OK from the front because of the print, the back made me blush. It isn't so much sheer as it's flat-out transparent. And I was wearing a nude bra. I'd never wear it by itself. It's also very boxy, even in the xxs. Left empty-handed.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree with you. I returned the optic dot tee for the same reason, too sheer. Layers are great but often I need to go down to one layer and I am not comfortable showing my bra and lumps and bumps to the world.

      Delete
    2. Oh, shoot. They're still super thin material? I had hoped w/all the love for the Peony Tee, that it meant the quality of the material had improved. Well, scratching that one off my list.

    3. Yes, this is exactly what I was worried about re: the new tees. Thank you!

  48. Has anyone tried the silk collar tee in person yet? I think that will be my one purchase from the new arrivals using my 20% off, but not sure whether to size down. Normally when tops are offered in xxs, it is an indication that they run large. Any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I tried it on here and found it to be true to size. It's very cute and flattering. If anything I found it to run a tad small, it was quite form-fitting.

  49. I ended up using my 20% off/free shipping code on the feather earrings - they seem so pretty, and I hate paying shipping on jewelry!

I also threw in a sale tippi in bright papaya - online it looks like a lovely color, although I suppose it might be a bit neon. If anyone here has seen that color, I would love to hear your opinion on it!

  54. The only thing I like in this roll-out is the Ankle cuff pumps. I looked at the runway pictures and saw JCrew has other color options like purple and green that are not available on the website. I am contacting my VPS to see if they can be ordered.

Oh! I also just got my Contessa snake skin bow pumps in vivid aqua. They are very beautiful in person and the shade of green is perfect, not too bright/pale. I normally do not pay full price on any JCrew items and I may be willing to keep those given they are sold out.

I do not see any clothes that caught my eyes in this spring, but as usual, all heels are so beautiful and they are a joy just for browsing.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I must say that I am exhausted by J Crew's poor ability to predict what might be a best seller and in my opinion they are losing a lot of money because of it. Of course, I love the No. 2 pencil in Hummingbird print, but it showed up online already sold out. I was told a few days ago it "had been very popular" and sold out..but I have not even received a catalog and they closed the only store I had in town. Next, I LOVE the very very see through lavender twin-set
that Alexis mentioned but it is TOTALLY see through and contains nylon. Poor design plan. I also would gladly take a few pairs of shoes off their hands but they are SO WAY over-priced for how trendy they are it is just not worth it to purchase. Oh, and I agree with Alexis. The Lulu frost bring back gonna bite you with my pearly white teeth necklace is hideous and over-priced and already sold out? WHAT???? Sorry for the vent. NO sleep plus over-priced trendy clothes and lack of supply makes me a cranky monster.

  56. Regarding this roll-out, I was disappointed to know that the COLLECTION LACE-STRIPE TUXEDO PANT is not part of this roll-out, because it's sold out from pre-order.

Does anyone know (from experience) if an item was a pre-order, sells out online even before its launch date, will it eventually be re-stocked again?

Too bad this 20% would have been perfect..
then again is it even worth it for $445.00 especially when I haven't even seen it IRL.

  58. I ordered the hummingbird floral cafe capris in size 10. Hoping they fit okay... I have wish listed the pencil skirt in size 12 and cafe capris in size 12. I love that print.

Hoping size 10 will work for me in the capris. My size 12 minnies are too big. Would love to hear if those capris should fit.

I received the collection argyle gauze cardigan. It's lovely but completely transparent. I skipped the matching shell. Color is periwinkle blue with white diamonds.

  59. Went to my store tonight and there were signs stating that the sale merchandise was 20% off. Not one of the many sales people that greeted me mentioned anything about apercent off on FP merchandise. I actually have a code, so it didn't matter to me, but I thought it was odd that no one said anything. Either my store is not participating in the "secret" sale(unlikely!), or it is a really deep secret!

  60. My store in SF, too! Not a peep from them. The only time I heard it was from their stock lady who was in the dressing room assisting customers to their rooms. Odd. She seriously should get commission from what sales people make.

  62. Regarding the Etta pumps - the chunky heel (hello 90s) is back ladies. Read any magazing and they are all pushing that style. I personally love it and already have the Etta in 4 styles. Of course, I still will be wearing my single-sole pumps, platform pumps and wedges - style is about what works for you, not what is trendy. (What I will NOT wear are those flat wedges that are all over the place - eek, those are so gross)

  65. Broke down and purchased the striped floral tee…I was contemplating the peony tee, but my phone VPS said that she saw the fabric and thought it was very thin. Unfortunately, I have a "cling" issue with tissue tees and the like (which camisoles can't help). She said that even though it was linen, it was very sheer by her standards. I could catch a glimpse of the thinness when we did a close-up of the collar.

But the peony is beautiful. Boden had a very cute striped flower applique tee for kids last year and had really wished they would create one for women. The JC floral stripe tee may be my best bet, but I'll comment when I receive it.

  68. I don't really know if this belongs here but seeing as how J. Crew keeps adding more and more items to their Collection line, I really wish with the prices they are asking and wanting us to feel like they are more special than the regular line items, that they would at least try to manufacture these items in the United States. The pieces are beautiful for the most part but I just have a harder time feeling that a $500 jacket made in China and a $200 jacket made in China are that different from each other. I love J. Crew but I'd love them even more if they went the extra mile and did that and truthfully I'd be more likely to spend the extra money for these pieces if that was the case.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yea, I felt the same way before...but some high end designers with the same price point as J.Crew collection, for example-Marc by Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang, Philip Lim, DVF, all their merchandise (except shoes) is manufactured in China. Unless you get to the higher end of designers, then its all made in Italy/France. I always just wait for it to go on sale..unless it sells out earlier then that really sucks.
I think i would be happy if their collection pieces were made in the US, at least i won't feel as bad.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, I'd love to see J. Crew start a trend with more American made items, at least with their Collection pieces. I know a lot of other designers make their items in China too and I feel the same way about their price points and usually just wait for it to go on sale. I know it's a pipe dream but I'd really like some of these American designers and clothing businesses to bring the textile industry back to the US.

      Delete
    3. You would be surprised at some of the big names that are actually made in China, even though the label says Italy or France. Legally, even 95% of the work is done in China/Vietnam/Phillipines etc but the item is then return to Europe to have a button sewn on the item can be marked as made in Italy or France etc. I can guarantee you that all brands falling under LVMH and PPR are in fact made in China. People stopped manufacturing in the states not just because of the cost but because it is incredibly difficult to find people willing to even make the clothing, a friend started a successful handbag line and tried to do it completely in the states but had to give up because she couldn't find anyone who would do buttons for her. I live in Hong Kong and have seen many of these things first hand, when our clothing has quality issues it is easy to blame the manufacturer but the real issue is that J Crew corporate is cutting cost corners. There are some very well made goods coming out of China, the company just has to be willing to pay slightly more.
