J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Thanks Alexis for this post - it's been so helpful!

I bought the double-breasted cardigan in what feels like the dream fabric - cashmere/wool/nylon. Definitely size down. When I sized down, it fits just like the TTS marled wool cardigan from last winter.

The seaweed color is gorgeous. I also purchased retail only color - rope. It is so pretty. This is my go-to sweater for the winter to keep nice and toasty. It has a slouchy fit, but not boxy at all.

  2. Hi, ladies - I just wanted to stick a note in here that I'm looking for a review of the bonbon coat. Fit? Fabric feel?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Marled Alexie sweater (32851) - nice to see 100% merino in a thicker (9-gauge) knit for once. This sweater had an 80's feel to me in its shape - if you ever wore a crewneck with a turtleneck under it back in the day you know what I'm talking about. It was fitted, and my S had no slouch, but looked like it fit perfectly. I didn't find it to be itchy, but some of you may think so and need to layer a long-sleeved tee underneath. I liked this one overall (and better than the solid Alexie which I suspect is "Dream" yarn). Thumbs up.

Italian wool blazecoat (31319) - Because the pieces that JC can do no wrong on (IMO) are blazers and coats, I had to see this one IRL. Fabric was nice, and better than I was expecting compared to the somewhat ratty wool-cashmere of last year (this one is 100% wool). Camel color was spot on. Unfortunately for me, the fit was way off. I take a 2 in JC blazers and size up to a 4 in coats to account for layers. I got a 4 in the blazecoat and it was absolutely huge. I felt like I was wearing a barrel! I could've worn a sweater AND blazer underneath and it still would've been too big. Additionally, the buttons on the inside are hidden so you have to button them into the coat kind of backwards, and the belt is way too long (which I know is because they want you to tie it, but sometimes I want to properly wear it as a belt). I'd like to try a 2 but am not going to go through the hassle of reordering, but may wait for a coat promo instead. Too bad, 'cause it's a neat coat.

  4. looking forward to reading reviews of the new pieces

  5. Hoping someone buys or tries the Sunnie skirt and reviews!

  6. My Cashmere v-neck henley, cashmere femme cardigan and merino dore cardigan are supposed to arrive today! Will review later. :)

    ReplyDelete
  7. Ali, I am interested in the femme and merino dore, let us know if they have the "tight sleeves" issue.

Has anybody seen the henna color IRL? I love the cashmere open cardigan but the only color that caught my eye is the henna. Is it more of a brown or a red? TIA!

  8. FYI in case anyone is looking for it, there is a size 2 taffeta belle skirt in the gray/white floral print on eBay -- search for item # 220684994536. Not my auction nor that of anyone I know.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'm curious about the Merino Dore too. Not that I need anymore cardigans! But I like this one in the catalog.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I know this isn't a new item but last night I bought the sequin Henley http://www.jcrew.com/womens_special_shops/theresortshop/teesandknits/PRDOVR~26531/99102008985/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~0~90~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~Sequin%20Henley/26531.jsp

It fits tts I got it in the gray color and love it. I think it will be a great layering piece through the fall and winter too!

  11. Marled Alexie sweater (32851)

Just got this yesterday and I really like it (but I feel like something is weird about it I can't put my finger on it). It's funny because I saw a men's one that was similar and complained to my BF "Why can't they make women's sweaters like this-classic and warm" and then this popped up online! I think it runs a little small, because I got it in a small and it fits well and normally a small would be a little big. It's very thick and plush which was a pleasant surprise after most of the sweaters this fall are so thin.

Also wanted to say before I ordered this I wanted some V neck perfect tees and they mysteriously disappeared in all colors but white black and gray. I asked CS and they said they were sold out, and I said are you sure it isn't because there is a promo going on? She said OF COURSE NOT they won't be in until November... lo and behold they are back online! UGH.

  12. Add me as another fan of the Arrow sweater jacket. It's not the most flattering cut but it is so soft and plush that I have to keep it. I have a couple of similar sweater jackets that I love and expect the Arrow will become a favorite as well. The full milano knit gives it structue and comfort and the fit is TTS.

After reading about the ones silver_lining received with runs, I did check mine over very carefully and could not find any issues.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm looking for a sweater that I saw in store that sold out super quickly. It's a light, almost coral color (hard to explain). It has side pockets w/ sequins inside and a button up placket with sequins lining that as well. My PS couldn't remember the name of it and I can't find it online. Anyone- help!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hi xoxo - glad that you got an Arrow you're happy with! What color did you end up with? I found the heather elm had runs in it twice when I ordered, but then saw other colors that looked fine.

As as aside, I'm wearing my HO '07 merino Alice sweater jacket. Love the double knit and cute shape - it's very warm but comfy. Sweater jackets are another thing JC does very well.

  15. Are you a JC cardholder? Use JCCSALE for 20% off $175+ order- only good if you use the card as the payment method.

    Maybe we're finally being heard?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just to add to my post- this is $175 *before* taxes, shipping, etc is added in. There is no mention of free shipping. All of the branded merchandise is excluded. I forwarded the email to Alexis to post if/ when she is able.

Doubt I'll be biting, since the discount barely registers w/o free shipping. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  17. jbird - I saw that promo too! It'd be great if it offered free shipping to or even if you could use it in store!!

Won't be taking advantage of this one. :(

    ReplyDelete
  18. JW and jbird- just saw the promo too! I think we ARE finally being heard! Too bad I was JUST going through my credit card bills and realizing that I really need to curb my spending. Not that it's a great promo anyway...

  19. I received and am wearing today the Timber tweed pencil skirt and Cashmere crewneck cardigan in heather honeycomb. The skirt is truly beautiful, tts. It is a mixture of brown, camel and greyish threads interwoven with bronze metallic threads. it is a substantial tweed, but not overly thick as to make you look bigger. The length is good for us shorties, i am 5' 1.5" and it hits right at the top of my knees. The cashmere crewneck cardi is tts, I am wearing my normal XS. My only complaint is that the sleeves are a bit long, I had to roll the cuff. Other than that, it is beautiful, and the color is to die for. It is the perfect warm honey color that I was looking for. I am also wearing the Autumn leaf earrings in sandy brown, they are the perfect length, not too heavy, and the color is very versatile.

    ReplyDelete
  20. JW, jbird and Jackie - I just saw that too! And like you all, I was very excited until I realized there is no free shipping...boo. (And sorry for breaking the J-name chain.)

    ReplyDelete
  21. OMG, a cardholder-only sale! Wow, they finally made good on their promises made in B&W right there on the website. As you all know, this has been a pet peeve of mine.

I'm not sure I can get my cart up to $175, especially since some of the few things I'm interested in (like Cecilia print cami) are much, much cheaper in stores. But, I appreciate their gesture!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Gack, fine print! No free shipping :-( Won't be happening. I wonder if they would honor it on Red Phone.

    ReplyDelete
  23. No free shipping, no shopping. Anthro is having a big sale, just spent my hard-earned dollars there.

    ReplyDelete
  24. What a lame cardholder "sale"! I actually had two full-price items in my cart that I was ready to pull the trigger on when I got the email, until I realized that shipping was going to be $27! Are you kidding me JCrew? $27 s/h for a pencil skirt and a pair of ballet flats? Totally negates the 20% off. I'll pass.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lol, don't they know by now to just throw in free shipping? Shipping cost wipes away any form of saving.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nice to have a card holder promo but not buying without free shipping.
I also went a bit overboard at anthro - that's where my heart truly is:)

    ReplyDelete
  27. I agree, no free shipping, no shopping.

I have stuff in my cart but I am not buying until I get a discount or sale with free shipping. Period.

  28. J Bird-Is the sweater you are looking for the Peekaboo Sequin Card? Item # 28949

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, apparently, they got half the message, huh? I agree that w/o the free shipping (or at least more reasonable shipping charges), no shopping online for me.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I purchased the un-sweatpant - They are very comfortable but I don't know if I would wear them out as suggested by the company.

  33. silly me..I should try reading the comments before I get all excited and post about a sale that's already been posted;) I couldn't remember who had been tracking the past sales and the lack of "cardmember sales" so well but here is their response to that..finally. And without free hipping and $175..not much of a deal=(

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ha! And a little more reading would do you well, sweetsy!
Hexicon--they answered your prayers but not free and clear of paying shipping. They really love their cardholders, don't they?

  36. UGH, I had written up my reviews & then Firefox froze. For reference, I am 5' tall, 23-24" waist, 32D.

Cashmere v-neck henley (XXS, heather tide): I wanted to love this. It was incredibly cozy and cute and felt very well-made. However, it was way too low and slouchy on my 5' figure. Will be returning, sadly. Also, in person, the color is more green than the blue pictured on the site.

Merino doré cardigan (XXS, rustic barn): Pretty cute! Not in love with it, but it goes very well with my Marc Jacobs Cream Logo Studs. My only complaint is that it's a little bit loose, so I'm hoping to shrink it in the dryer. As for the sleeves, they fit TTS.

Cashmere femme cardigan (XXS, navy): YESSS YES YES! So comfy, so cute, so well-fitting! Definitely low-cut, but obviously I will wear a camisole underneath. Very happy with this one!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Couple of reviews:

Chevron Cami - got it in heirloom pink - beautiful, looks great with charcoal/grays. Fits TTS, no lining. Not sheer. No side zip. Not too low cut. Quality seems good - inside seams are finished nicely. Love it. Great "basic" without ruffles!

Merino de Longueur Cardigan in olive moss - returned. Didn't give me the "wow" factor. Fits TTS. Color did nothing for me. Buttoned front pockets on lower part of cardi added weight/fullness to the area. I usually love merino, but this particular cardi seemed not quite as soft and a bit scratchy.

    ReplyDelete
  38. oh - can anyone comment on the fit of the Cashmere V-neck? TTS? Slim or does it have a bit of "slouch"? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I got my November catalog just now and for the FIRST time a 20% off coupon on my next order. Unless free shipping gets added to my account I won't be ordering but I realize now (at least for me) that since I have ordered nothing this fall that the less I shop maybe the more promos I will get!

Just crossing my fingers for free shipping to be on my account before the 10/31 expiration date!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Desert Flower, I ordered the Sunnie skirt with the 20% off and it is on its way. I'll review when it arrives.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I bought the Color-blend Montreaux cardigan in Hthr Moss and it is beautiful. Very different color (different multi colored strands within it) and TTS - I got my usual size Small.

I also bought the Drapey Bateau Tee in Olive White Moss...also TTS - I bought my usual size Small.

Does anyone have any reviews on the Stadium-Cloth Elements Coat, the Solid Color Alexie Sweater or the Glided Sweater Jacket?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I got the Moss Tweed Pencil skirt and it is GORGEOUS. So pretty with flecks of indigo, lavendar, green. It looks lovely with the gray or pine Jackie. I actually went down a size in this b/c that's all they had, but it fits just fine. For reference, I took a 8P in the double serge stretch and took a 6 in the Moss Tweed. It's about the same length, too, on the shorter side of the pencils.

I also bought the bici tshirt and love it. I'm a 8P on top and took it in a S. Also got a Jenna cardi and took a M (I'm a S or M in Jackie...depending on how I want it to fit).

Also got the only Alpaca long cardi left in black M (though could have taken the S...runs a tad big, IMO), though wanted it in the cream or caramel color (sold out at my B&M). It is super soft and will be nice with skinny jeans and tall boots.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I know this is not new but i did not see reviews.
Cashmere shawl collar popover. I got heather agate in Small and Heather saddle in Medium.
I can wear both with Small a little more fitted and better worn by itself and Medium more slouchy with long sleeved tee underneath. Colors are divine. Yesterday I wore the heather saddle with olive striped pocket tee and I really liked the combination. The shawl colar can be worn flat or flipped over. I decided that I have way too many cardigans and I like the more slouchy pullovers this season.

  44. Do any of you ladies own or tried on the Pamilla Lace pencil skirt (28947)? Since it's a collection item does it run a size large? I tried it once in my size and if felt big. Any sizing input is appreciated. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I also got the cardholder sale email. I will not be using it since free shipping is not included especially for a minimum so high. The high shipping fee negates the discount.

BR always gives me free shipping and even their minimum fs is low at $50.

    ReplyDelete
  46. jcrewphd, I have the palmilla lace skirt and many JCAs thought it runs large. I got mine in my regular size because I was going for longer, looser look but you can definitely size down for more fitted and shorter look. It is very stretchy. btw, i think it is absolutely beautiful and timeless but i still need to find an occasion to wear it.

    ReplyDelete
  47. @ Twiga-

Thank you for the suggestion, but it's unfortunately not the one I'm looking for. It's a brand new sweater- the texture is a bit nubby and heavier than the peekaboo.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh, one thing to mention about the Merino doré -- the buttons seem VERY delicate if you leave any buttons undone. The threading doesn't seem that tight/steady. Just a warning.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I have the palmilla lace skirt as well. I am usually an 8 in the pencil skirts, but sized down to a 6. Gorgeous skirt!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Can anyone help with sizing on the petit jardin skirt? I have a 4 in some jcrew shorts, and just got the daisy day skirt in a size 2... Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks everyone for the helpful posts!

    ReplyDelete
  52. ajc & Tricey: Thank you for the sizing info. So it is very stretchy? Did you notice it stretching out as you wear it throughout the day? I love the look of the lace with slight sheen.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Ali, I haven't seen the dore cardigan but there's a pic of it on the model in the catalog (in the light blue color) and all the buttons look like they're about to fall off! I thought they must be heavy.

    ReplyDelete
  54. jcrewphd - I also sized down 1 on the palmilla lace pencil skirt. It is a bit stretchy, but I haven't found that it lost its shape after wearing it.

I just returned from the b&m (had to make a couple of returns), and my PS showed me a new pencil skirt that they received. I believe it is retail only at this point, style # 31935 (which is the same as the Sunnie pencil skirt online, but the color code is GMU), $128. It is multi color, similar in pattern to the Sunnie, but the main color is like a periwinkle, with hints of a reddish color, light green, camel and cream. I think it is beautiful, and unique.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I tried on the Stadium peacoat last weekend, omg this is the best fitting JCrew item for me in years! I normally swim in their peacoats. I took the size 0 and it fit just like the model. I wish I would have snapped a pic though because I'm worried all the buttons and lapel overwhelm me...

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh Marietta, I can't wait to see that pencil skirt you described;)!!! I'm a pencil skirt addict.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Rae-I am due to receive the bonbon coat today. I will post a review later on tonight. I got it in spicy russet.
Re; the cardmember sale: sometimes I feel like these promos aren't necessarily the greatest but if you were going to order something anyway, it sweetens the deal slightly. Any way it can be combined with a free ship code? I thought there was a recent one for orders over $150? Or did that end on Sunday with the extra30%...

I probably won't participate...I really need to curb my spending! I really want a few things from the latest roll out but I am going to wait for my rewards card to get those.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I tried on the Gingham Sundrine Flannel Shirtdress in store last week. NOT flattering at all! It has a drop waist, which will really only work on someone with a long torso. Also, in that pale blue gingham flannel, I felt very little house on the praire. To each her own, but I would not recommend . . .not even at $19.99 on sale.

I did buy a navy tissue turtleneck - a great staple! They are so good to layer and nice and thin for my climate. I know you can get them on sale after the season, but I really needed a navy one to wear with some newer sweaters.

I am a cardholder, but will not be taking advantage of this promo . .not with the high min and no free shipping. Just bought a cute dress at Anthropologie that I'd been eyeing that went on sale today instead.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hi silver_lining, I got the black Arrow sweater, since it was on sale and I was thinking I would probably just try it out and return as I didn't get all the fuss over it. Wanted to spend the minimum possible.

I have both the marled wool sweaters from last year in the grey and brown colors and they are warm, fitted and blazer-styled so didn't want anything too close to what I already have. I don't wear green so it was black I was after anyway, for once I got lucky with the discount.

I agree, J.Crew does sweater jackets very well.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Jcrewphd,
Unfortunately, I haven't worn the palmilla skirt yet. It is stretchy, which is another explanation for my sizing down one size. It is divine and I hope to wear it soon.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Got the cardholders sale information in an email. I won't be using it. Not a great deal unless you need something or already planned to order as someone pointed out. Nice to see they actually have a cardholder perk. Just not a great one when other retailers offer free shipping as well as %%%%'s off.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Like many on here, I too like the Arrow Sweater Jacket. It really is like a light jacket and it's soft. Also, it looks nice buttoned up, a few buttons buttoned, or open, which is nice.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Has anyone tried the Lisette lace sheet yet and can comment on fit? I can be all over the place in J Crew camis (anywhere from 2-6 depending on fit), so any advice would help!

    Thanks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Hi Amanda - I've tried the Lisette and found it to be ever so slightly A-line, probably because the zip is in the back and not on the side. Nice change from a lot of the side-zip camis that fit at the shoulders/bust but not quite at the waist/hips. I'd say to contact CS for measurements and if you fit the bust the rest should be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Gah, I got so excited when I saw the cardholder sale, and then totally deflated seeing the high min and no free shipping. Boo. I gave my money to Anthro this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  66. LOVING the Woolly ribbed turtleneck. Very soft and cozy and fits TTS. Bought it in black and now I'm totally eyeing the warm slate color too. Really great as a layering piece or on its own. It's a little sheer though not overly so, although I can't speak to the sheerness of the light gray color. I do have the Woolly henley in the sweet almond color and it's quite sheer.

Also loving the Wool crepe pencil skirt in dark plum. Wasn't sure about size after some mishaps this summer with ordering some P0s that fit perfectly and then ordering some others on FS that were unflatteringly tight (a nicer way of saying I looked like a sausage). So anyway I ordered a P0 and a P2 and I'm keeping the P2. There's only about 1/2" difference around the waist, and seemingly in the length too, but it's definitely hanging nicer and not getting those crease lines across the front every time I sit down :)

Also ordered the Velvet Ruby jacket based on having seen it in person at my B&M (not in my size so I didn't try it on) and reading awful reviews of it here so I could have the fun of trying it on without the temptation of keeping it. (I've never done that before but I really loved the look of it in store and couldn't grasp why everyone was so against it.) Well I'm very confused by this one and more than likely it's going back since I paid $143 on promo which is still quite a lot for what it is. I absolutely love it on the hanger, and I loved it when I first put it on with my around-the-house leggings, but when put together with a real outfit I did see what everyone was saying about the unflattering empire waist situation. I also love the feel of the fabric but I'm not in love with the stylistic choice of having the velvet end about 1/2" away from the side seams and sleeve seams. Looks to me like they ran out of fabric or something!

In other news, I'm finding it curious that my 30% off sale order placed on Friday, which I used on the then-hidden Factory site, has yet to ship and it's already Tuesday evening- yet my orders placed Wednesday and Thursday (did a bit of damage last week) have arrived / are arriving shortly. At first I suspected cancellation but wouldn't I have gotten the dreaded email by now? Odd.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thanks silver lining! Will do. :)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Dara- I was having the same worry about factory not shipping yet but then I checked my order on the website and it has shipped, yesterday, even though I didn't get an email

    ReplyDelete
  69. Agreed that I will likely not be using the cardholder discount as it doesn't include free shipping. I was thinking of getting the Sutton boots so the 20% off would be welcome but the $17.50 shipping isn't :(

Speaking of the Suttons can anyone comment on quality, fit and overall appearance (pref of the black)? The shape looks sleek but I'm worried that the weathered leather make them too casual to wear to work. I work in a casual office but usually dress up somewhat.

Also noticed that I can't see them on a model anywhere online to get a sense of how they look with an outfit. Usually if you look at enough skirts or dresses they'll show most of the shoe collection in those photos as well. I guess boots are tougher to fit in? Oh well....

    TIA

  70. Did anyone get a coupon in their Nov. catalog? I didn't, but I thought I remembered reading that someone else had. ...:'(

    ReplyDelete
  71. In thinking about J Crew's shipping costs more, this weekend I wanted to order some final sale items but removed some from my cart when shipping went up to the next tier. I have to think that I'm not the only one doing that. It just seems so counter-intuitive to have shipping go up the more you buy, it's like encouraging you to buy LESS!

    ReplyDelete
  72. November catalog?? I'll be lucky if it gets here before Black Friday...

    ReplyDelete
  73. Ali,

I posted at 12:10 on this thread that I did get my Nov. catalog today.

I have not purchased the arrow sweater jacket. I will wear my black Jacinda sweater jacket and gold one much more. Anyone else remember that great sweater jacket from a year or two ago? :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Genny,

A ha! I was right! So annoying though. Crew needs to get consistent with promotions. Give them to everyone or no one.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I recv'd the catalog and I believe the model is wearing the Timber Tweed pencil skirt on page 21. She's holding a..HOLY BIG-BAG, Batman! suitcase/purse and standing next to a light fixture that looks to be this falls inspiration for the jewelry roll-out. And yes, someone mentioned the catalog looked to be photographed in the J Crew offices versus some exotic locale and I tend to agree. Shouldn't the clothes be less $$-LOL!
    Pretty blah and totally uninspiring.

  76. J bird:

could the cardigan you're looking for possibly be the peekaboo sequin cardigan, 28949? Last sale price I saw was $29.99 in warm wisteria.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Thank you Marietta and Tricey. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  78. j bird - I know which sweater you are talking about and I don't think I've ever seen it online. The sequins are very subtle. I don't remember anything about it - cost, color codes. Sorry, wish I could help more.

  80. Marietta, I am hoping my b&m gets that pencil skirt! If they do and it's as good as I'm imagining, I may just get it. I'll be calling my ps on Thursday so he can pull it if they get it. Thanks for posting the info! :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. I did get the Sutton boots, and I really like them. Someone else on here got them and didn't like them, though. I love them w/jeans but they'd work w/a skirt too. I've already worn them and gotten several comments on them!

    ReplyDelete
  82. OT but can anyone tell me the current price of the Palmilla lace skirt in stores? I am reconsidering it for the holidays.. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Solid snood (34742) - I just wanted to see it IRL. Anybody with some knitting skill could make it - I think you would knit 1, purl 1 as big as you wanted till you got a wide scarf, then twist it and sew the ends together. I may try my hand at one for something to do. It's very big and bulky, and I'd like to make one a little smaller and maybe a different color than what's offered. :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. I took a big FS risk and ordered the gamine shift (item #30000). I'm a sucker for rugby stripes. Size-wise, I went with my usual 2, though I could have gone with the 0, as the dress is a true mod shift rather than a curve-hugging one (it fits like the mia shifts from a few summers ago). The wool it's a nice weight, the stripes fun, and it's lined. Plus, it hits just above my knee (5'4"), so is work appropriate. I think it's just darling. Did I mention I got it during the 30% sale, which brought the price down to around $70. Worth it, I think.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Anyone seen the Stadium Cloth coat in stores? In the catalog there's one that looks almost pinkish (and no such colour online) and the women's outwear main page has a greyish-blue coat with light brown buttons (and the actual link has black buttons!)

Can anyone help me sort this out?

  86. Has anyone tried the tiered cardigan or have pictures irl? Here is a link http://www.jcrew.com/browse/single_product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441805352&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302024041&nav_type=PRMNAV&bmUID=1287535888687

I'm really curious about that mustardy color and would appreciate any feedback! Thanks!

  87. I tried the Heather Traversa cardi (the one that comes in grey only) and was shocked by the stiff roughness of the fabric. Not too comfy. The ruffles were super cute (especially around the neck) but less so around the hip area - not the most flattering place to hit. Fits perhaps a pinch small, though I'm not sure if it's enough to size down. I had high hopes for this cardi - hopes that were met with meh.

Not a review but I have an IRL pic of the Marled Thandie blazer on my blog. Super cute, though the colour and fabric were not exactly what I expected. I thought the fabric it would be more marled and less black/white in contrast - if that makes any sense. It's a bit rough as well. Fitted and fits a pinch small, though I'm not sure if it would be enough to size down. It's a little snug in the arms. I'm wearing an xs in the pic - it JUST fits.

  88. My wool cashmere icon trench arrived last weekend after I ordered it with the red card. I couldn't choose between the black and the camel, so I decided to order the dried parsley on a whim. The coat is amazingly soft, and I really love the green. It's more of an army green than a hunter green, which I think makes it more of a neutral, at least that's my opinion.

I have the regular icon trench, and I love the classic, clean lines. The wool cashmere version is just as timeless. All the other reviews I read (from lovely JCAs and beyond) mentioned that the coat is fairly thin, and I have to agree. I have the lady day with thinsulate from last year in bright cobalt, and I absolutely love it. If this trench were warmer, I think I'd love it just as much, especially for the upcoming Wisconsin winter.

I'm going to think about whether or not I want to keep it for a couple more weeks. I probably would be happier finding last year's stadium cloth boulevard trench in gray, but I haven't had any luck on ebay yet.

  89. I received the gilded sweater jacket in the gold color. All in all, I like it. Nice substantial knit, not too heavy. I ordered an s and an xs, and decided to keep the s so I can wear it over a light turtleneck. The gold is pretty understated.

  90. Hi . . . well the Britten platform booties finally arrived. They're a bit too extreme for me. They were just a little big when I ordered a half size up. They were pretty comfortable for J.Crew shoes, they just looked too edgy for my surroundings and life.

The Waverly chinos are the best they've ever had. They're skinny and straight in the leg without being tight, and the fabric is soft and drapey without being worn to holes. They run generously true to size. There's only one leg length available. I got the very butterscotchy retail only color. I think it's probably "burnt caramel." They've gone down $10. . . just my luck. . . after ordering one online and one in store.

I tried on the dream zip henley in olive. It's lovely, very comfortable, not itchy. It runs a little long in the body for short people, so I didn't get it, but if it goes on deep discount it's mine.

Some great stuff at Madewell. The weekend mohair cardigan is beautiful. The extra small fit, except for the very tight arms, so I sized up. The "classic black" is not. . . it's got quite a few beautiful blues and purples woven in. Not too long for short people.

Finally, the fall forest romance blouse was on sale at my B&M for 59.50. Gorgeous silk, but very see through. It needs a cami.

  91. silver_lining, I see those snoods everywhere here in Canada. There are some really cute ones and prices are good, even for all-wool versions. I'm sure they are available in other stores in your area for much less, in case your knitting project doesn't happen.

Laura, if you're talking about the Stadium cloth peacoat, it may be the warm taupe you saw that was pinkish. I have the short icon in warm taupe and it definitely has pink undertones, it's very pretty.

  92. love the merino un-sweatpant... i was lucky enough to get them on sale and they are quite possibly the softest pants i have ever owned. I will be rocking them with biker boots and heels this winter

  95. Hello!

Has anyone ordered the twist knot tee? It's an online only item. I have been eyeing the autumn sunset color for some time and noticed close up the seam goes straight down the middle. Anyone have an issue with this or whether its very noticeable on?

    Thanks!

  96. (asked in another post as well. Hoping someone in one of the posts will have an answer for me!)
So does anyone own a Dream cardigan from this year that has withstood wearing? I love the style of the Dream v-neck cardi, but I"m worried about pilling/falling apart/holes. I've ordered (and returned) it twice and vaguely remember it being delicate, but I was more focused on the fit than the feel (and it was too big). With the introduction of XXS, I'm hoping to try again.

Any help is greatly appreciated!! I'd rather spend $78 on a sweater than $168 (the Cashmere v-neck cardi is a very similar, but longer, style).

  97. Marietta, thank you! I will try to find one even if I remember it being very long on me.
I tried the pencil skirt that you were talking about today at the Collection store. It's beautiful! Too bad that I don't wear my pencil skirts that much (especially in the winter) ot I would have bought it. Very unique as you said and I loved the colors.
I took pics and will post soon on my blog.
I agree on the cashmere crewneck sleeves being too long.

  98. Finally broke down and decided to keep the Velvet Ruby jacket without waiting for markdown. It's already received compliments and it's only 9am here. I think I made the right call.

Going to keep checking my B&M to see if it gets marked down... if so, I'm not opposed to repurchasing and returning with my original receipt, even if only for store credit.

  99. BTW has anyone else purchased the Factory Lace skirt? I received mine yesterday and it's going back. I thought it was lovely at first but I found the fit to be very odd... it felt like it fit ok but when I looked in the mirror it was like it added 10 lbs to my waist/hip/thigh region and made me look like a pear. At first I thought maybe it just needed to be steamed or tried on with different pieces but I decided that for $118 I should be able to throw it on and like it instantly. So back it goes.

Also received my Factory cashmere cardi which I am just the slightest bit disappointed with although I'm definitely keeping it for the $67 I paid during the 30% off sale promo. I bought it to replace a Factory cashmere cardi I bought last year for $99 which recently sprouted a hole in the elbow. I can almost swear that this year's version is slightly thinner and more sheer (I ordered the white color) although when I compared the two I could not be 100% certain as this one is new and soft and fuzzy and last year's is quite worn and no longer as soft. Also, the cut is totally different although last year's came up on my receipt the same way, "Cashmere crewneck cardigan". Last year's had 3/4 sleeves and was a full 1" shorter in length like a Jackie, whereas this year's has long sleeves and fits identically to my retail cashmere crewneck cardis from last year. I like long sleeves, just wish they'd stuck with the shorter cut which was my reason for buying from Factory. But again, for the price, I am not complaining.

Also decided to keep the Factory marled wool shawl collar cardigan in black/white. It's just a tiny bit on the shapeless side (buttoning the top button helps) but it's quite warm and will hopefully not pill straightaway like my Fall '10 retail version which I have in the Marled saddle color (and did not buy another in the black/white color due to the piling). I really like the slant pockets as they are at the perfect spot and angle for my chilly hands.

Also received my tote bag. Love it. Roomier than expected. Already served its purpose as a great way of getting all those other items home from my office on the subway without lugging a big box :)

  100. Has anyone ordered a factory flannel perfect shirt? I am interested to know what the quality is like.

  101. I received the factory version of the Tory sweater. The look is exactly the same but the factory dream blend is more itchy and thinner than the retail version and not nearly as soft. I looked up the fabric content and the factory one has 5% cashmere (instead of 15% retail) , 35% wool (instead of 55%) and some viscose that probably contributes to the itchyness factor. Also the ruffle is poly and not silk even if it looks like silk. Also mine has incredibly tight sleeves (I got my regular size xs).
I think I am going to keep it because I got it during the 30% off promo and really needed a long black evening cardi but wouldn't reccomend it.
I would be interested in a review of the glimmer pocket one if someone has ordered it.
I also got the double serge bistro mini and even if thinner than the retail one I like it. I got the ivory one for the holidays and it has a slightly A-line style while the retail one is more straighr. HTH!
