  1. Unfortunately, a couple items I was interested in are marked down for the first time to final sale. Not buying final sale.

  2. Agreed. Unfortunately, enough people must still be buying from FS because they haven't changed it yet. I think it was "Fall Sale" around this time last year, changing back to FS the day before Christmas.

Frankly, it's gotten too tiring to keep track of items going to FS on first markdowns, then looking for second/third cuts on stuff every week. I'll always have one eye on JC, but am actually spending at sites that are a little less labor-intensive for me. ;)

  3. I agree with mommydearest and silver lining-

Not shopping final sale. Will wait for Fall Sale or JCrew won't be getting any of my shopping $$ this fall.

As silver lining said I always have an eye on JCrew but it used to be a daily eye and now I check the site a couple times a week!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I agree, it's becoming too tirening to keep track and not fun anymore. I now buy pre-final sale items only that at least I can return (ex. the microspun pocket tank was on promo for $25 last week and now is on final sale for $19.99)

  5. When the stadium cloth peacoat first came out I told myself I would hold out for a good reduction, maybe wait until Final Sale after Christmas even. Of course the nordic blue sold out in my size pretty quickly and I have been stalking it ever since. It popped back in the other day so I grabbed it. I'm hoping that since it is still early fall it won't be a worn return.

Nothing in FS for me. I'm finding fewer "wants" at J.Crew every month it seems. Sticking to the basics that I know will work. Not interested in their trendy looks at all and frankly not surprised they are ending up in FS so quickly.

  6. I typically don't waste my time with final sale online, but I can report that I went to the SoHo J.Crew Store, and they had RACKS of sale merchandise (none of which was marked final sale on my receipt! ) downstairs. I mean RACKS. Literally.

AND! As an added bonus, the 20% card that came with my catalog applied to the sale stuff too, making my shopping trip that much sweeter! (The card specifically said it wouldn't be applied to sale items but it appears the computers don't know that!)

I think the B&M stores have better sales, I picked up a Wool Flannel Pencil Skirt, originally 118, now 59.99, in a gorgeous dark grey. They had a good selection of sizes, you could examine all of the merchandise beforehand, and best of all try it on.

    ReplyDelete
  7. If anyone is planning a trip to a B&M this morning, would you please check to see if the Silvana cardigan has been marked down to $59.99 and the Bayberry flouncette blouse down to $39.99? The store prices don't usually match the online prices and I'm wondering if it is worth the trip to the B&M. Thank you very much!

  8. I heard that all sweaters are 30% off in-store starting today. Can anyone confirm?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Not getting anything unless 30% off now~ The price kept falling after I ordered. It doesn't seem like their stuff really worth that much anyway, and it always come back after they appear to be gone. I'm done with this game.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I'll be in store tonight so I can confirm promos in the am! FYI in store WILL price match if you ask them to with online! And if they are out of your size in store you can use the red phone to price match with in store sale price!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I am NOT shopping from Final Sale. Please, JCrew stop this nonsense and change it to Fall Sale!
Seriously, how can anyone who has not tried on the stuff commit to buy crazy $$ ones as Final Sale? I mean the product pictures aren't even clear with the models obscuring it and the fabric contents aren't even stated with percentages. With sizing everywhere there is no way I'm taking a risk.

    ReplyDelete
  12. jcrewlove: my store has stopped matching lower prices from online. I've asked several PS and even managers and they said it is the official policy and used to make exception but now they no longer do it. Or at a different B&M, I've even heard where they will price match it but it will have to be FINAL SALE for sale items.

  13. After looking at the blog archive from last year, it looks like around the 2nd week of October (last year) they had the "Insider Sale" where they had a % off with a certain minimum purchase which also applied to full priced items. And closer to the end of October they changed the Final sale back to "Fall Sale."

So I guess its just a matter of playing the waiting game for now!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I just can't play the sale game with Jcrew anymore. When I buy a skirt in store, I look it up online and it's $20 cheaper. I have a cart full of shirts for Dh online and then I stop by the store and see they are $25 less each. I'm shopping paralyzed because each time I do buy from JC I end up feeling tricked

    ReplyDelete
  15. MDPA, yes, all sweaters are 30% INCLUDING SALE! :)

and managed to find a sailor always - it was only $9.99

    ReplyDelete
  16. Has anyone tried the cotton wool ruffle dress or seen it irl? I love the sweater version and am thinking about ordering the dress but wanted to see what you all think first!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Count me in as being extremely tired of the pricing games...I just don't have the time to do it.

As for Fall Sale, like Ashley said, it came back in October last year, so hopefully it won't be too much longer now. October 14th is the next rollout, which is supposedly a *big* one gearing up for the holidays, so maybe they'll end final sale then or even before.

    ReplyDelete
  18. ITA, Shannon. That's the way I feel from this price trickery to the various codes with different minimums for free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  19. mommydearest: Do you know if you can use the red card in addition to the 30% off all sweaters?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Shannon, YES!! The pricing and policy inconsistencies are absolutely ridiculous.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Yayy mommydearest! This is great news for us who didn't get the 25% off cards :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. jcrewlove, one of the SAs in my store had it (cute - with a belt)but I didn't ask her anything.

I don't know if it runs like the sweater, but I did try that and it was HUGE. I am a S -sometimes M- and even the XS was huge and boxy.

    ReplyDelete
  23. ITA about the pricing games!!

shopalot - you can use that baby on anything! The 30% came off automatically at the register.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks for the info, mommydearest. Guess I know where I'm headed at lunch. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. mommydearest: do you know if the 30% off sweaters promo includes the Arrow Sweater? I will get it in a heartbeat if it is!

    ReplyDelete
  26. From the field:
Vintage bateau top in all colors - $29.99
Puffer vest in warm taupe - $39.99
    Glen plaid Minnies - $39.99
Dark grey wool twill Minnies - $39.99
    Side zip sweatshirts - $24.99

I didn't see anything about 30% on sweaters - maybe a 'secret' sale?

  27. Here is an illuminating exchange I had with CSR on online chat. I think the nice lady was a little confused. In any event, I didn't really get an answer on when final sale would be ending.
    *****
Me: do you know when final sale is going to change back to "regular" sale?

CSR: Our Final Sale items will not be going back up in price.

Me: no, i know that. i mean when will it go back to non-final sale so that you can return an item even if the price is reduced?

CSR: That's what I'm saying. Once an item is Final Sale, it will stay Final Sale until it's sold out. Our Final Sale items are available in limited quantity and we're offering a low price to make room for new merchandise.

CSR: May I assist you with anything else today?

Me: ok. because last year the "final sale" section changed over to "fall sale" where you could return items, sometime around october.

Me: and it was the same merchandise

CSR: It was probably a new shipment from the manufacturer.

CSR: We rotate our inventory on a regular basis.

CSR: What item are you interested in?

Me: on every single item in the sale section? like 800 items?

CSR: I can see if we'll be getting more in later?

Me: there are 7 items in my cart right now that are final sale, but i won't buy if i can't return because i can't try on first. they are still $100 sweaters even if price reduced.

CSR: I'm unable to view every item in our sale section to answer your question.

    Me: ok nevermind.

CSR: If you have an item number, I'll be happy to check it out for you.

    Me: it's ok nevermind. thanks.

  28. silver lining, there were little signs on some of the sweater tables. I didn't even notice until I overheard an SA tell another lady about it - and that it includes cashmere and men's.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Also, while some ppl are clearly shopping from FS, I doubt the stuff is moving like gangbusters. Otherwise items wouldn't be on their 3rd or 4th markdown. The bettina cami is still in stock in every size at 19.99.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Appgal, I didn't check the Arrow sweater, but I did ask specifically if it included all sweaters and the SA at checkout said yes. BTW, did you see that at least one color is now marked down online?

    ReplyDelete
  31. AppGal and others, the Arrow sweater jacket in black is $79.99 online.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Cass: Too funny!!

OT: there's a 1 day pre-sale at LE Canvas, select items are 30% off. Don't need anything. Have promo code and pin, first person to email me at onetoomanyclosets at gmail dot com can have it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Just came back from the store -- sweaters are 30% off and you can use the red card (25%) on top of it. Really nice deal!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm a little confused. Does the extra 30% off sweaters also apply to sale items? I just called my store to check the price of the sequin peekaboo cardigan and the price quoted didn't include an extra 30% off...thanks to anyone who can clarify.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Also, Crystal Bead Cardigan, both colors - $69.99.

Cass, your conversation was hysterical! I had an online 'chat' with my cable company with one question from my bill, and the rep was like "I will explain the entire bill to you". I didn't want that - I just had a quick question! Ah, well.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Not sure if this question has been asked - if there is a sale item but not in stock at the B & M that I go to, can I order it by red phone and use the 25% off red card? so for example the $19.99 Bettina in a color not in store - will red card apply?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I stopped in a B&M at lunch and saw the Bettinas finally down to $14.99. They had the pink Twyla at $24.99, but I'm not sure if that's all colors. I hope so because I had them hold it in green at another store. I didn't really check anything else out since those are the only two items I've been stalking.

    ReplyDelete
  38. i picked up the last (?? i didn't see any others) bayberry flouncette blouse at the soho store. the SA kindly honored the online price. i asked nicely and he was pleasant enough but the whole thing made me kind of tense!
j.crew SAs can be very...prickly. $59 versus $39 is no joke, at least not to me. gah. it shouldn't be so difficult.

anyway, there is a TON of sale stuff in the soho store (thanks for the heads-up, allison!) but hardly any shoppers, even at lunch time.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Nicole, the Twylas at my B&M were marked at $19.99 - this was hot pink, olive, and a charcoal grey.

Cecelia camis were FP in the store although they're now on like, their third cut online.

JulieY - I think you'd be able to use the card on a red phone order for a Bettina, but you'd have to pay shipping on it which would pretty much cancel out the 25%. You may be better off ordering it online with a ride-along.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Julie Y: Apparently there were several memos sent out last week to the stores saying that it's not allowed on red phone orders anymore, even though it was at the beginning. Seems that the online CS were combining too many promos (must have been the 20% off last week) with the card, so they nixed the red phone orders to remedy it. This is another one of my peeves that they do...changing the rules on a whim, and midway through a promotion at that. I told my PS I thought it was really lame of them to do it, and I could tell she agreed with me. Not to mention, they have to be losing out on tons of business by not allowing it on the red phone orders.

All this being said, I would still give it a try if I were you...you never know, you may get lucky and still be allowed to use it.

  41. Ok, I bit today. I really, really wanted the Crystal Patterns Necklace from the most recent catalog for an upcoming trip. Since it was only $85, I needed another $15 to get the free shipping. I found my favorite Cafe Capris on sale for $19.99 today (they were $29.99 yesteday) to get me the free shipping.

I too am not a fan of final sale. But since I have two other pairs of the Cafe Capris and know my size, I felt like this was a safe bet. I just hope I don't get some reject pair!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I just came from the store and I love the sweater promo!!! Cody cardigans in all colors are $69.99. With additional 25% off I got one in heather nickel and one in heather cobblestone for $52 a pup. It said $99 on price tag so I guess they applied 30% on the top. I also got the zippered pocket cashmere cardi in heather saddle, it came to $88, great because this color in not on sale right now. Now I wonder if other sale sweaters are also additional 30% off. Anybody knows?

    ReplyDelete
  43. First time posting on JCA! Was wondering if the 30% off sweaters in store was running through end of week, or just today. Great deal with the 25% card, deciding whether to run after work, or wait til tomorrow!

thanks for info if anyone has it

    ReplyDelete
  44. Hello to all,

I do not have access to a B&M store and would GREATLY appreciate it if someone could let me know if they have seen any of the following items on sale in a store with the additional % off:

Cashmere crewneck cardigan in black, navy, heather nickel, or rose dust in sizes XS or S

Cashmere shawl popover in heather nickel, navy, rose dust, or autumn pumpkin in XS

That way, I will try and call the store and see if they can ship these to me.

    Thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
  45. FFM, thanks for sharing the news about the 25% card no longer being useable from the red phone. JC just lost my business. I placed a very large order 2 weeks ago from the red phone when they let me use the card. I was just going to order 2 pairs of boots (in sz 11--not avail in store) from the red phone before the card expired, but I decided to get some other boots from endless.com instead. They are having a 20% off promo plus free ship on boots, and no jumping through hoops to get the discount.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anyone know if the sweater promo is on mens as well as womens?

    ReplyDelete
  47. FFM: Thanks for letting us know about the 25% card not usable over the phone. I agree that changing the terms mid-way is confusing. Why alienate customers like that?

Cass: That online chat with the CSR, although amusing, must have been so frustrating!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I was able to use the 25% card over the red phone this morning on short iconic trench. Though one J.crew store said no. Another J.crew store said yes and the over the phone CS said yes and applied it. Confusing.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I don't know why J Crew hasn't sent out an email advertising the 30% off sweater sale. The B&M I visited during lunch was practically empty. There are some fantastic bargains, especially on the already reduced sweaters. Plus, the SA said yes, she would match the online price of the Silvana cardigan -- scored it for $31.49!! So happy!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I used the chat feature yesterday to inquire about a vest color that my store didn't get. The CS rep told me that the red card could be used and stop in my B&M and have them use the red phone and confirm the 25%. I haven't stopped in yet, but I'll report back if there's a glitch.

    ReplyDelete
  51. best part about ordering in store is that it is not final sale. i was able to use 25% on red phone but it was place by my PS. i even got free shipping even if my order was few pennies short of $100. so i guess it still depends and is worth asking. hth

    ReplyDelete
  52. Shopalot: I was just about to ask whether the 30% promotion still applied if you asked them to match the online price. Glad to hear it worked for you...headed to my store in a little bit :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. Shopalot: Do you mind my asking which store you went to? That info will be useful in case my store gives me any grief about using the additional 30% off after price matching. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I'm ashamed to admit I'm one of the ones buying from Final Sale. (In my defense, the nearest B&M is over 6 hrs away--the joys of living in Texas-- so its not like I can hold out to ever go to a store).
Anyway, they refreshed the stock in swimsuits, and I couldn't pass up 10$ seprates. Also a few colors of the watchbands were down to $5. Got a few pair of the bootcut cords from last season too, but I already know they'll fit.

Here's hoping everying arrives in acceptable condition and in the actual colors and sizes I ordered (funny how with any other retailer, that thought wouldn't even cross my mind, but yet every time I open a box from J Crew it's a complete surprise as to whether or not I get what I ordered.....sad).

    ReplyDelete
  55. Shopalot, lucky you for scoring the Silvana for $32!! Wow! I got the black marled sweater today at my b&M for about $65. I'd been waiting for the black to get marked down. it was 30% off plus the additional 25% off. I do think it's completely annoying that the online price is $10 cheaper. But still, w/the 25% off card it was still cheaper to buy it in the store.

I plan to go back one more time before the 25% off expires. I had my daughter w/me today and she wasn't feeling well, so I just ran in and out.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Michelle:
North Michigan Avenue, Chicago. I was surprised when the SA said she would match the online price and even more surprised when the extra 30% off was taken off of the online price. Just FYI, I brought in a printout of my shopping bag that showed the item and the price. I also used the red card; that's why the sweater I got was so crazy inexpensive!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Jruby, I'm considering going back again tomorrow, too! Didn't have much time today, and there are so many practically brand new sweaters already on the sale rack. Too bad the return policy changed; would make fantastic holiday gifts. I don't like to give gifts that can't be exchanged/returned!

    ReplyDelete
  58. FFM, thanks for the heads up about red phone orders using the card. I was going to order the Britten short boots before the promo expires, but I guess I won't be anymore. Ridiculous how they change the terms of a promotion midway through.

Silver_lining, I saved $10 on the Vintage Bateau tee I bought just this past Sunday thanks to your info about the price change! I wasn't planning on visiting JC this week so I'd have never known the price had been lowered if it weren't for your comment. I went in today really quick and had them price adjust it. Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I went to the Fifth Avenue store to checkout this sweater promo. I was told it's valid on both FP and sale sweaters (but not much for me on sale). There is a lot of confusion among the SAs re the rules. The SA who was taking care of my transaction didn't know that the 25% could be applied on top of the 30% but I insisted and he asked a mote experienced SA who said yes no problem. On the other end he got me an online sale price match on another sweater but because the 30% off didn't come up automatically, it wasn't applied on my receipt. Oh well, I am happy anyway because I scored a cashmere crewneck in rose dust for $88 that I have been wanting since last year (I missed on the dusty blossom which was very similar). It must have been a return because it was the only one in the store. I also got that zippered pocket cardigan in the heather saddle color: very chic!
If you are looking for a bayberry flouncette blouse they have plenty (size 2 and up). Sadly the 2 was too big on me (they moved the sale section upstairs in the men's department). Also the Betsy polka dots wrap blouse was 19.99 but even for that price I didn't like it.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I do buy during Final Sale but only if I have previously seen the item in the store and tried it on or already own the item in another color. So far so good, except for the damaged sweater I received last week ("ink" stain on the back). However, CS Ok'd the return and all went smoothly @ the B&M when I brought it in to return.

I also ordered the buffalo plaid perfect shirt in Autumn Sun over the red phone and they honored the 25% discount but the SA explained to me that they only do it if they have the item and are out of your size or previously carried the item and sold out. If they never carried the item , you are out of luck! I got lucky!

Am heading to Boston this weekend to visit my daughter and I am sure we will end up at JC....probably the one downtown (is it Copley?) Anyone know if that store has any good deals in the sale section....?

Also does anyone know if they will honor the student discount along with the red/white card?

    Thanks and happy shopping everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ooo, I'd love a $19.99 dotted Betsy!! If anyone sees a 2, would you mind holding it and letting me know? mommydearestjca at yahoo

Funny, another posted just said something in the looking to vent post about JCAs having to make pieces work - this is one that absolutely doesn't work for me on its own, but would be adorable under a cardi and $20 is ok to pay for something I can only wear under a cardi.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Thanks to all who posted the 30% off sweater sale and that it also was good on sale sweaters. In store there was a small sign announcing the sale on a table but not in the sale section with the sweaters. I would have never even known to ask if it included sale if not for this group. There are some great deals to be had out there.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ema, don't you love the zippered pocket cardigan in the heather saddle? I did not expect to love it so much but i did. Love the color, the zippers and the overall fit. I found that it run bigger than Cody and the arms had more room. I had to get Cody in M but the zippered cardi was perfect in S.
They also had fringed macalisters for 49.99 which with extra 25% off is a great price if you like them. light grey is more beige btw. i contemplated them as comfy shoes to wear casually but since i got all the sweaters I passed.

    ReplyDelete
  64. SO! I ordered the Sweet Violet & Dream V-neck cardis last night after debating for a few weeks. Today, I looked and they are both on sale for $49.99. Called Crew immediately to request a price adjustment. After being put on hold for 5 minutes (but honestly, the hold music was awesome, so I didn't even mind), my rep came back & said she'd put in a request for the adjustment. Hopefully it'll be applied tomorrow.

AND thank goodness: despite being $.02 away from the free shipping promo (my order totaled $99.98 with the adjustment), I was still given free shipping. HOORAY FOR CREW!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh, f. The sweet violet cardi is now on finale sale. Do you think they'll still let me return it if it wasn't on FS when I originally placed the order?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I am SO TIRED of the crazy pricing. Makes me not want to buy anything, on top of not wanting to buy anything because of quality issues, FS, etc etc. Stop J CREW!

Cass - I love your CS story. Reminds me of getting tech support at work - when you know the person is reading off a script - totally answering questions you are not asking. Funny, but frustrating.

I think I'm taking a J Crew break - I will not purchase until the item I am lusting after is 70% off or less... and if I wait long enough, it will happen. Grrrr....

    ReplyDelete
  67. jcrewlove: I've tried the cotton wool ruffle dress and thought it was cute. I sized down. I didn't end up keeping it because i'm very sensitive to wool and it was a tad itchy to me, but may not bother others.

You can see it here on Summerilla.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Anyone know how long the 30% off sweater promo lasts. I asked an SA in store tonight and he said he didn't know because corporate didn't give them an end date...he said it could be a week or it could be two days. Anyone know??

    ReplyDelete
  69. Ok, J.Crew know-it-alls: I've been quietly admiring you all from a far, but now I need your expert opinions. I finally dove in head-first and made my first-ever J.Crew online purchase (virgin here). And it was a whopper: the Colletta coat, size 4P...in SEA SALT! I used the 20% off coupon that came in the catalogue, so I actually saved $60. Hooray! Well, it came today and, let me say, it's the most beautiful thing I've ever laid eyes on. It's stunning, truly. But it's so lovely and pristine and WHITE (more cream, really). I'm terrified of it. What if I get something on it that the cleaners can't get out? Is this a common problem? How well does this double cloth clean up? And another major concern is the collar -- it's really pretty how the collar stands up. But this positioning will surely leave some face makeup on the area that hits my neck/chin. I was able to turn the collar down, but I don't know if the coat is supposed to be worn that way. Is it? Does it lose something that way? The face makeup thing is troubling. Please advise: Is it stupid to have purchased the coat in Sea Salt (I really just love the idea of a white coat). And I should confess: I have a 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son. There, I said it. I have little kids and bought a white coat! And what about the collar? Any tips/ideas would be very appreciated. Thanks! I love this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  70. ajc, yes it's great in that color. I was going for a crewneck or turtleneck but tried this on and loved it (I didn't like the crewneck in the same color as much). I must have tried the Cody thinking that it was the regular v-neck cardi. It runs very small!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I forgot to mention earlier, but the store I was in today didn't say anything about Final Sale. I'm curious if the store I have to go to tomorrow will be the same. No indication by signage or by the SA that I wouldn't be able to return what I purchased today.

Silver_Lining: Thanks for the heads-up on the Twyla price. I know they've been $19.99 online, but they've been $39.99 in the store until today. Hopefully the olive I want will be $19.99 finally! Even if it's $24.99, that's still better than what it was.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Susan,

My ivory Greta coat (also double cloth) has survived two winters in spite of my son who is now 6. I wear it often and it hasn't been that bad to keep clean. It has been drycleaned twice and I actually spot cleaned a few tiny smudges with a mild solution of baby shampoo and water on a washcloth.

Enjoy your coat. I am sure it will be fine.

    ReplyDelete
  73. silver_lining- which color were the $24.99 side zip sweaters? did it include the charcoal color? tia!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Hi ashley - the dark cloud one was marked $24.99. The silvery and charcoal ones were also on the sale rack but I didn't catch their prices.

  75. Some in-store prices:

    - sequin pencil skirt #30279 - $49.99
    - camo crinkled chiffon skirt # 28237 $39.99
    - glen plaid wool minnies # 28448 $39.99 (not many sizes left)
(also the bi-stretch wool minnies in cobblestone, which are the most unflattering trousers I have ever tried on)
    - silk and sequin scoopneck tee # 28508 $49.99 (I love this so much, even if my kids do say OUCH whenever they hug me while wearing this)

and 30% off all sweaters, but some square up to the on-line prices; for example, the Cielo cardi comes out to $48, the Silvana cardi comes out to $62. Others, like the Traversa, which were marked down to $49.99 already, come out much cheaper than on-line.

I feel terrible for those of you who are not near a store, especially a store with Collection items, because the price discrepancies are very unfair.

  76. at the risk of sounding like a terrible bore, i'm still so pissed about not recieving a discount card that i'm not buying a dang thing. the thought that someone else somewhere is paying 30% less for the exact same item chaps my arse in a bad way.

sticking to my 2007/08/09 merchandise via eBay for now!

  77. Susan, if you're worried about makeup on the collar, try wearing a scarf that can be draped over the standing collar when the coat is open and wrapped high on your neck when collar is closed. It's easier and cheaper to dry clean or replace a scarf. I have two double-cloth coats, one a Lady Day that is a few years old already and both have held up very well.

One trick I have to spot clean garments without any liquid at all is to take another piece of fabric and gently rub the spot to transfer the spot to the other fabric. Works best on woolen items using firm wool fabric or even an athletic sock turned inside-out. Sounds goofy but it does work, especially if the spot is dry, like facial powder, deodorant, etc. May not take it totally off but it does dimish and since no water is used it does not "set" the stain.

Enjoy your beautiful coat. One of the things J.Crew does best IMO.

  78. Just came back from my store. There were so many great finds. I got the scalloped zipper cardigan, sequin peekaboo cardigan, and katelyn cardigan for $21 each! I felt horrible about not getting the 25% off card but this sale partly made up for it.

Ashley, I'm not sure about color codes but the light gray one was $24.99 and the dark gray one was $39.99. This was before the extra 30% off.

Also, kind of off topic but target has a really pretty lace skirt on clearance for $8.50. I think it looks very similar to J. Crew's severn lace mini. There is an elastic waistband that I don't care for but that's easily solved with a belt.

  79. SL- thanks! i'll definitely need to stop by a B&M! sounds like they're having much better deals!

  80. SA in my local b&m said the same thing...they weren't told how long the sweater sale would last...

  81. My PS told me that I can use my 25% off card on the red phone and it will not be a problem. Hope there are no issues - I go tomorrow!

  82. I purchased the Traversa cardi today. It was on sale for 59.99, and I got 30% off plus I used my red card. The grand total came out to be $31 plus some change! That is what I call a steal! The SAs don't know when the 30% sweater promotion will end.

  83. Not shopping Final Sale, but if anyone else needs to, coupon code on my blog.

  84. Elaine: I know what you mean and how you feel. Some of the prices are so low at B&M and for others to use their promo card together (not at all their fault) just does not seem right for other loyal customers not offered with the card.
I've also been searching and buying older JC items off of eBay.

  85. Good Morning Everyone! I'm glad to hear that some of you are still able to use the 25% off card on red phone orders. I definitely think it's worth a try even though the *rules* have changed...after all, we all know from experience how inconsistent and *ever changing* they are. (Btw, using a PS to place the order increases your chances of being able to use it, too.)

  86. Thanks to the wonderful JCAs, I went to the closest B&M yesterday and got some awesome deals.

I got the Bettina in Tuscan olive, a shirt that I *think* is the Slim Stretch shirt in a mint green color, and the Tissue Tonal Ruffle tank in faded cobblestone for a whopping $36 altogether (with the 25% off card I happened into a couple of weeks ago).

The stores near me are pretty small and don't have the sweaters I really want, so I didn't take advantage of the 30% off sweater promo.

  87. I ended up getting a red card well after everyone else had them. Unfortunately, the only two items I want are not at my B&M and they said I couldn't use the 25% over the red phone. Bah! J Crew. I don't care what their policies are as long as they are consistent.

  88. Rec'd an email stating the b&m 30% off sweater promo ends Monday, October 11th, 11:59 p.m. est.

  89. Thanks for the info, IRL. I can't get to my b&m until Saturday and I was worried the 30% would be over before then. Now I hope I can find some good deals in my size. :)
