J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance

  2. Checking the J Crew site at a few minutes before 5:00 this morning--as I am wont to do--I discovered a great new pair of W+B carpenter pants that were marked as half off the $138 list price. Moving them to the cart, I was unable to use the SPLASH promo for the additional 50% off of sale, but a quick google search turned up one of those weird "additional 15%" promos that I was able to apply. My total was in the mid/high-$50s range, and I left it in the cart to see what else was available.

    Checking back on my cart just 10 minutes later, I saw the checkout price had jumped back to the original $138...uh oh. Someone in IT evidently caught the mistake, as this is a new item pictured on the homepage and should not have been discounted. I was able to back up to the original page for these carpenter pants (NOT cargo pants; big difference) and take a screen shot of the red $69.50 sale price. Once CS opened at 7am, I was able to twist their arm into accepting my screen shot and honoring the $69.50 price, albeit without the additional 15% off (CS: "Sir, that is a private promo code and it should not have been advertised; please tell me the website where you found it." Me: "I'm sorry, but I cannot remember.")

    Long story less long, I should have made the purchase when I saw the great deal with the additional 15% factored in, but in the end, I was able to get the pants for 1/2 price--which I'm sure they will be available for a month or two down the road anyhow!

    1. That has definitely happened to me -- found a good price that they haven't corrected yet when promos flip in the early AM hours. As you found out, one must jump on those deals with no hesitation, ha. Glad you at least got CS to accept the 50% off full price. Generally, the "additional 50% off sale" promo codes will only apply to things that end in .99.

    2. When I checked Tues really early there were over 2000 things in women's sale but a lot were not eligible for 50 off. (I tested out a few new items in my cart.) meanwhile, none of the 15 percent off codes seem to be working anymore. Does anyone have a current one?

  3. Julie-- Yep...hindsight is always 20/20, sadly. I got greedy, and hoped the SPLASH promo would kick in if I waited. As Suz notes, these pants originally said "extra 50% off with SPLASH," so I thought I might get 50% off of the 50%. At least I was able to get a screen shot and they honored the original mistake...

    Suz-- I'm afraid it's my fault that those 3 or 4 promos kicking around for an additional 15% discount went away. I tried asking CS to apply one to my aforementioned purchase, and she freaked out. I told her I didn't remember the site where I saw it, and she said IT would be investigating, because that was intended to be a one-time promo and not for public consumption. Sorry...

    1. Lol, no worries I’m sure many of us would have tried the same thing.
