"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I visited my store today and I was so disappointed. Nothing I was interested in is there. Even the two shirts I did like, the sheer star silk blend button down and the silk blend mockeneck were basically gone (there was one mockneck tucked in a rack and one on display, none of the star shirts.) meanwhile the same stuff is in the boring sale section.
And people who walk through the store just leave a mess as they go. It’s embarrassing. What is wrong with people that they can pick up a shirt and put it down in a mess, not at least try to make it neat?
I really feel for the employees, actually all retail employees.
Still hoping to see the black sequin reversible half zip sweater if anyone sees it and can report back.

    1. It's pathetic when we want to spend money but can't find anything to purchase. The holidays should be the best of the best, right?
As someone who worked in visual merchandising for years (even at JC) it's tough when people don't respect your product or store. Even now I fold shirts back up, pick things off the floor to put back on hangers, etc. Retail is a tough gig for sure. How sad that I am already over fall clothing offerings and am patiently waiting for some spring product (although I know it will be more nautical inspired LOL)

    2. One of my college roommates worked every summer at Ann Taylor. I said "wow, that sounds fun!", she gave me a dark look and said "have you ever worked in retail?" , haha. Yes, I'm also someone who neatly refolds every t shirt I pick up, straighten things on hangers, etc.

    3. I am hoping to go to the store sometime soon. I have rewards to use and when I went to the store a couple weeks ago, nothing spoke to me. I was hoping that the next holiday rollout would interest me but so far I haven’t seen anything. This is so sad. I remember when the catalogs would come and I would want some thing on every page!

    4. I am also appalled by my fellow shoppers. Even worse than the ones who leave a mess are those who rip open packages to sample the merchandise. I don’t want to purchase creams and make up that have had someone else’s dirty fingers in them. And I especially don’t want to purchase food that’s had the seal compromised. 🤬

    5. Barbara I agree with you. I see so many people that don’t give a damn about the clothes they try on, if they see a hanger or item on the floor they won’t bother to pick up and the poor sales associates are treated like dirt. I’ve seen sales associates had items thrown at them (this happened @ a JC in Palm Beach Gardens, and also a Nordstrom. Obnoxious, self-serving arrogant brats and adults. Oh, and the language that went along with it, vile. Many a time I stepped up and defended the associate. I worked retail when I was a teenager and also in college. I loved it. Back then people had good manners at least where I lived and worked. All of you have my sympathy. Nautical inspired? That’s me. Getting my lobster dress and other great Jcrew pieces ready for our next voyage.

    6. Of course the pricing games bother me too. My birthday rewards should be here and last week I might have ordered the sequin sweater at 40 off, even taking a chance on the size. This week it’s 30 off. Next week who knows maybe it will be full price. Sigh

    7. I can’t stand messes when I shop. I’m that person who will straighten up displays and shelves as I shop. I even restock the produce at the farmers market as I pick my veggies. I’ve never had a job in retail but I always thought it would be fun, but I bet if I did I would lose interest in shopping in stores.

    8. I was in the store this week too for returns but didn't see anything I wanted to buy. It seems like everything I want to buy is never in my store. I do like a lot from J. Crew these days, but the store inventory isn't doing it for me.

It always bothers me when I re-fold something in a store that I can't get it quite right lol. But I always try.

    9. I’ve been a long time reader of this blog. I think I’ve only posted a few times over the years. But my local store has the opposite problem of feeling bad for the shop employees. They all stand around talking nobody even offers to help find merchandise or even acknowledge your presence when walking in the store. I’ve been in three times since Black Friday. I don’t think I’ve ever been waited on. My husband came with me today and noticed not a single person acknowledged anyone else who walked in the store either. No offense but I would rather shop online if that’s the type of service they’re going to provide. W. Cleveland store.

The pricing games are pathetic. The shirt I tried on in the store was still full price. It’s 60% off with a code festive online. Maybe I would’ve asked for them to price match at the counter but as I said nobody offered to help me. I even tried on belts and went through the entire rack of online only items which is next to the register! Nope zero from the associates in the store.

    10. Is OU gal for Ohio University?? I'm an alum! :)
I rarely shopped in store (and now the closest one, an hour away, is closed) but I always noticed the online prices were significantly better so the only benefit of going to a store was seeing the actual colors and also being able to try stuff on. But then I'd have to go home and order it online. I asked them to match online price one and was told "we don't do that".

  2. Damn you JC! Thought I got a good deal on the Nordic hiker boots and bought them on the cyber Monday sale at final sale. Today with the promo code they are $20 cheaper! Should’ve waited!

  3. I understand that stress can be an incentive for breakouts. My mouth and gums were all lesions and bumps and I was afraid to go out in public. All that helped was an anti-viral medicine taken orally. I thought it was a one-time deal; however, it has resurfaced unexpectedly and I am so let down. I am looking into Ayurvedic oils like melaleuca and lavender oil for handling the outbreaks of this virus. I am over 30, and not happy. This led me to the search for a permanent cure for the Herpes Virus which has taken a toll on my health, When i came across Herbalist Razor Traditional Herbal Medicine, After seeing some reviews and visiting his website , i placed an order for his Traditional Herbal Medicine , which i applied for 18 days , I am so Glad and delighted to be finally cured of herpes Virus 1. You too can get cured and have a better life, Contact Herbalist razor on His mail : herbalistrazorherbalhome@gmail.com , Call/Whatsapp Him via +2349065420442. God bless You
