Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I visited and did some try ons. The pics aren’t great but I might post them on the private FB JCA unofficial group.
If you didn’t see the link and want me to post it today let me know.

    1. Most things I tried on seem to run large.

There is a black and white stripe ruffled tuxedo top. I didn’t take a pic of the label but it was horrible. I had a similar top ages ago that was a slim fit and lighter weight cotton with a ruffle front I loved. It was bold but enough. This one is a diagonal and I felt like a court jester.

Collection Willa blazer in tipped stretch velvet

Was a very generous fit. The 6 was too big and the 4 was very generous in size, but what I’d probably stick with. It’s long and has a nipped in waist. The color is a very vibrant red. I didn’t see the pants, they had what looked like velvet yoga pants (flared) stretch pants next to it and a Stewart plaid shirt. I’d wear it with jeans. But the color is so bold of a red it has a limited season, even for me and I wear red year round.

Tie neck top with puff sleeves in stripe.
      Classic-fit tie-neck cotton poplin shirt
      Item BB254
The vintage raspberry pink is like a light burgundy. Not too pinky maybe more like a soft red. The shirt I tried was a 0 and all wrinkled (but the other one on the rack had a giant dust bunny on it like it was on the floor). The 0 fit but the sleeves were short. I didn’t like it at first but doubled the tie around my neck rather than make a bow and it felt smart. I think a 2/4 would be ok for me as I prefer a little more room across my shoulders and chest.

      Plaid blazer
Sommerset blazer in glen plaid English wool
      Item BA472
This is more of a boyfriend style, not nipped at the waist. I think I tried the 6 and the shoulders weren’t gigantic so sizing down wouldn’t help. The plaid is lovely though.

Check the FB page for pics!

    2. Thanks for the reviews. If I didn't work at home I'd look at the blazers!

I'm always wary of the referee look, but court jester could be an issue too.

    3. Thanks, Suz. The velvet Willa blazer was the only thing I have been curious about. I guess it would be either a 0 or 00 for me. I know what you mean about that color having a short shelf life

    4. Thank Suz, in other news another launch 16th stylist mentioned they’re rolling out certain items before this date. So much merchandise to offload. Thanksgiving Week Cyber Promo all week and for those who tear their hair out with website issues upon launches Be Prepared!!!

    5. MmeJacqueline, I think the fact that it’s velvet and this bright red make it feel even more seasonal than if it was one or the other. I actually really like the color a lot and part of me feels like if Gucci* did it at least twice it definitely has longevity, but I wonder if I would wear it beyond the holiday season.
*note I have only seen the Gucci versions worn by GP in photos and I feel that might be a slightly deeper Ruby red. This is a super bright red, but NOT orangey to my eyes, in store lighting.

    6. Agreed. I think I would love a blazer in deep blue. I so rarely see blue velvet.

    7. I think back in the day crew did have a midnight blue velvet. Maybe 2010ish? I still have the black and sold the burgundy because I never wore it, always reached for the black. Thinking about as long as I’ve had this, even just wearing it sparingly, makes me think more about the red. 😜

    8. MmeJacqueline, I was just looking and Talbots has a deep blue velvet blazer with potential. Like the JCrew version it’s a cotton velvet, not poly. I’ve never tried their clothes so it may run big, I also think it’s 30 percent off.

    9. @Suz Has: Thank you. I'll check it out. Their clothes used to fit me back in the day, but they have vanity sized me out.

    10. @MmeJacqueline I have a blue velvet blazer from fall 2008, #97130. I would call it midnight blue. It's not navy--it's got a bit of green to it. It's made beautifully, with two different lining fabrics and contrasting piping inside. I also have the slightly dated silk print camisole that went with it. It was a floral watercolor print that came in blues and greens and was called Mid-Atlantic. It had the self fabric roses across the top. The print also came in golds and greens and was more frequently photographed, if you have the fall catalog. I wonder if you could find it on eBay? I think the style was the Ecole. It's a shorter jacket than anything they've shown in recent years and nips in a bit at the waist. I sized down from my usual size 2 to a 0. It's held up beautifully.

    11. I had two of those, MaryG! A reddish color called papaya and a charcoal gray. I sold them at one point when I purged almost all my non-black clothing and I felt they were a bit short for me. 😜

    12. I have velvet ecole jackets in navy and olive and the silk "watercolor floral" dresses in mid atlantic and olive. also have the flats. Such a gorgeous collection! Wish I had bought more

    13. @Mary G: I swoon...sigh. Your blazer is exactly what I have in mind. Yes, a midnight blue that is not navy. It sounds 100% perfect. What I shame that I missed in back in 2008. Thank you. I'll write all of that down and poke around online.

I remember when J.Crew items were sold on Net-a-Porter. That was, of course, before the decline.

    14. @MmeJacqueline fingers crossed you can find one. This style and the lady jackets are the jacket styles that look best on me, though my soul longs to be able to wear a long, tall woman in an oversized tweed hacking jacket with old school jodphurs. @SuzHas I remember the papaya and the style was also done in various tweeds too. #hadIonlyknownwhat wasaheadIwouldhavestockedup

    15. @Mary G: I'm not a long tall woman either (5'3" 100 lbs. or less). High waist pants make my legs look longer, and very tailored jackets work best for me. It's good to know what suits one's body type. Was it Chanel who said, "Elegance is refusal"? I refuse to wear things that make me look ridiculous, and "oversized" and "relaxed fit" fall into that category.

  2. I received an email inviting me to an early Black Friday event at the store on 11/14: 50% off when you spend $500+ and a free pair of cashmere socks with a $200+ spend. They also mentioned there would be a 40% discount valid on purchases in J.Crew stores from November 14, 2021, through November 24, 2021& 60% off sale prices. Not valid online. I was not able to go but hope to go take a peak of the holiday offerings this week.

    3. @ShoppingCelle, I received one as well. Unfortunately I would have to fly to one of their locations and I haven’t seen one item that has captured my interest. If you do spot anything that knocks your socks off please do post. I’m positive there will also be a very promo online due to massive inventory that’s already here and arriving. Thanks again

    4. @Unknown, perhaps they could offload their cargo up where you are. I think the company like other retailers have the hands full. Hang in there maybe they’ll do something for their great Canadian customers.

  5. Felt I had to share a sweet story about a shirt I wore yesterday from 2013. It’s the Chambray Embellished style number 02967. I was out and about and received so many compliments regarding the embellished stones. Some thought they looked like angels others a Christmas tree. I never paid attention to this other than I love the shirt purchased 2 at the time and took very care of them. How I wish the company would go back to these wonderful pieces. If any of you have this shirt post what you see if you have time.

    2. Thanks for posting this, Suz. I really like the nightstand and side table in particular. She’s got a great design sense and a good knowledge base. It’s like Shaker meets 18th c. French. Good furniture is expensive. I say bravo!

  7. Sorry not impressed and not my style. Overpriced as well. Just because she has name doesn’t mean she’s a good industrial designer.

    1. I like that it’s made in the US and I do think the swing out trays are a cute idea. One of my hobbies is finding pre-loved occasional pieces and rotating them. I wish I had more room to store some of it because I’m now collecting for my older girls’ apartments. I do buy new sofas and upholstered goods (and I’m not opposed to buying new) but I like to prevent pieces from going to the landfill and when I find a new table I don’t mind swapping out what I have. I wish Jenna luck in this endeavor. She certainly has made a name for herself and she’s not afraid to try something new.

  8. I went to the pre-Black Friday event this weekend as well. The store had a few people in it, which was nice to see, though not many made it to the register. I did not end up making any purchases either. I was told Black Friday will be the same 40% off full price...but maybe Cyber Monday or the post-holiday sales will have a better incentive?

I also saw some Madewell items at Nordstrom that are not on the Nordstrom website. Even though there was a full rack of Sunday flannel plaid shirts with multiples of every size available in-store, I can't find that pattern online at Nordstrom, only Madewell. Odd.
