J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. There appears to be lots of new arrivals. The holiday gifts and tartan plaids have dropped on the website. I loved the look of the Curved cable-knit sweater until I saw the polyamide wool blend
Item BD146. I’m not seeing a lot in the shoes and jewelry I liked. I would love to add to my suede pointy flat collection but nothing! Two pieces called out to me: I think the Collection cotton poplin shirt with feather trim Item BD772 looks fun. I’m not sure that a poplin shirt is the best place to put feather cuffs. Maybe a jacket or a fun sweater would be a better choice. My number 1 pick is the Cashmere diamond-check crewneck Item BD420. It looks fabulous!

    1. I agree BD420 looks incredible even though at a length of 21 inches that might be too short for my almost six ft. tall body.

    2. Yes ST. That would probably work better on my 5‘3“ self and a high waist pant or skirt would still be needed They should make a tall option!

    3. That sweater BD420 also caught my eye and the length is a concern. Also the $$$ for me!

    4. I like the curved knit sweater but wonder why there's no back photo of the sweater. I hope it's not one of those party in the front, nothing in the back situations. ALso: whyyyy lambswooooool! Would have loved a cotton knit or wool - just anything I'm not allergic to. It looks very wide. Excited for the old school school fair isle vest - though once again LAMBSWOOL! :(
Also am LOL'ing at the floral puffer snowsuit.
The velvet joggers look like something I've seen at Walmart or Steinmart or something...
I like the look of the Bristol blazer in the pink herringbone.
Am stopping by the Brookfield store to return (hopefully) the Baird McNutt shirt, so maybe Ill see some of these new arrivals??

    5. @ShoppingCelle, BD772 I’m wondering if this was more of a spring/summer shirt and second is this the new designer’s spin off of a Jenna Lyon’s creation. Perhaps if it had been in a nice silk fabric think it would have been more interesting. . Just my humble opinion.

    6. BD420 looks similar to a Reeds brand. Jcrew carried this brand some years ago.

    7. Bd772 totally reminds me of Jenna. She was wearing a feather trim shirt in her IG stories. I also saw Trinny Woodall pull a feather trimmed button down for someone the other day during a Zara shop up. I think it could be cute and I bet one could buy feather cuffs to wear with whatever shirt or jacket. Googling now…

    8. how do you wash that shirt with the feather trim?? whenever i get feathers wet, they never fluff back up.

    9. Omg you are right. I was looking at feather cuffs and realized it would probably drive me crazy.

  2. i like the plaid they used for Double-buckle pumps in plaid (Item BD330) but i wish they came in a ballet flat version.

    1. Yes Miss JR I agree. Those do not scream holiday like most plaid shoes this time of year. I already have at least three pairs of plaid shoes in various tartans and these might have been something I would have considered had they been flats. You would think in this age of more casual and work from home we’ve been seeing more fun flats.

    2. Me too! I am loving this color combo of plaid! Let's hope this ivory plaid version shows up on more items in the next roll-out!

  3. I’m loving lots of the new arrivals today. I’m thinking about ordering the pull-on straight-leg bi-stretch wool pant in Snowy Stewart tartan Item BD276. I haven’t bought any pull on pants as I’m not crazy about elastic waist in back, can anyone help with fit info? I’m most worried about having a “bubble butt”. Thanks

    1. Yup, that’s what happens to me too. Can’t hurt to try before they are final sale.

    2. I’m going to visit a store today to make returns & hope these pants and some of the other new arrivals are there.

  4. I like a few things…
Collection car coat in winter plaid Italian stadium-cloth wool
    Item BC938
Stands out to me as a special piece but I don’t think I would love the cut on me. Matter of fact I can almost guarantee I won’t, which is too bad. Maybe they will do other pieces in that plaid.

I laughed to myself when I saw the celestial stuff. I was obsessed with this in the 90s and still have some earrings from when I was in college (a pair that somehow my girls didn’t take). I think the shoes
    Celestial-embroidered velvet Mary Jane pumps
    Item BD323
Are cute but wish it was an ankle strap with a pointier toe, I have a sparkle pair (I think they were called laney?) and another laney pump from a few years ago and think with the more juvenile looking celestial print this Mary Jane will feel too young for me at least.

It’s nice to see festive plaids but I know they have such a limited wear time for me. I’m down to a thomas Mason Stewart plaid button down which is borderline too tight in the shoulders but I prefer it to all the recent plaids because the scale is smaller. I wish they would do a red plaid in a smaller scale, which I say every year because my old red plaid tuxedo shirt shredded and I think i finally tossed it. I have several scarves which I like and will make do with those.

Curious to see how some of the dressier options will fit and if anything will be in store.

    1. This vest was from the Dec. 2015 catalog and it is such a beautiful piece.

    2. Yes I recall that vest. Blue and white. Very pretty.

    3. @kikigrl, I wore it yesterday and someone asked if I picked it up in Norway🤣 Did you receive any further info on the Akris pants? I do hope if you ordered they work out. Forgot to add, given the Swiss are so precise the measurements should match what they list for sizing. They did for me at the time. Hope you found a good deal

    4. Thanks Lynn. I did call their CS and they confirmed their sizing. Very helpful.

  6. I was able to return the Baird McNutt s/s shirt today despite FS at the Brookfield NYC store and looked at a few new arrivals. Looks like mostly bright red (that cerise color thats more orangey) and that blush pink color that reminds me dull salmon. Not a lot of plaids in stores yet, mostly looked like florals. Saw non-clothing items such as the Liberty notebook and packs of tarot cards. I felt some of the Alfie blazers -- did not like how the wool felt at all. It felt stiff and thin, reminded me of felt moving blankets. The store didn't have anything from the new arrival I was actually interested in, so I left quickly after my return.

  7. I ordered the ivory wool lined (so they say) full length tuxedo pants. I've been looking for ivory wool pants for a couple of years. I've always loved how ivory pants can dress up a simple black or navy sweater, with some sparkly jewelry and interesting shoes. I also liked the red lady jacket, but am afraid it's going to veer toward orange. If someone sees it in the store, would love to know if it's a true red.

    1. +1 on ivory wool pants. This has been on my shopping list and so glad to find a pair that's wool, flat front and lined. I can't wait to try them. I'm hoping my local store has them, so I can try this weekend. I also like the holiday red sequin v back dress. Hope to visit my store this weekend.

    2. @Mygoddy, I immediately thought of you when I spotted the sequin dress. It had your name all over it:)

    3. Absolutely Lynn! Can't wait to try it.

  8. I can't find a lot of the Madewell new arrivals that are teased in the campaign pictures... Where is that Sherpa jacket with the scattered blue squares, for instance?
