Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I’ve been eyeing the Lady day coat in shimmer tweed Item AT697 for months. Reviews say it runs tiny which is typical of lady day coats. The two others I got this winter are size 6 and are comfortable through the shoulders whereas my old 4 is only ok over thin tops, anything thicker and it’s tight.
Has anyone tried in person? I’m tempted to go up to an 8 just to be safe since the waist is fitted anyway. Help! .

    1. Sorry I haven’t seen this coat in store. It’s a nice one. Perfect for the holidays.

    2. It’s online only. Totally not a need though.

  2. I received the button front midi in liberty. This one is lined, unlike the plaid version (which it doesn’t need because the fabric is not see through). It runs a little bit smaller than the plaid version, I think because of the lining. It pulls ever so slightly on my hips. I have to try it again to see if I want to order up a size or not. I love the pattern! It’s colorful and fun. I also think it will be versatile all spring and summer, from a blue Oxford to a simple T-shirt and flip flops. Total win!

    1. oh that skirt is so pretty - glad to hear it is lined. I saw in on IG on Lacey "theedgyprep" and she also said she sized up.

  3. I tried the cashmere vest in Heather stone item number AV996 in xxs in store. The reviews are right, runs large. The arm holes are huge. Would need a xxxs. The xxs would work over buttoned up shirt. The color is lovely basic. My measurements are 33-26-35. Wasn’t cropped on me. I’m 5-7.

  4. Question: Was there a long sleeve cashmere shirt at one time? And if so, were they different than the crewneck sweaters? I've been on the fence about the S/L cashmere Ts, which made me think about the L/S version. I know that I'm not crazy!!

    1. Hi Rashawnda, yes there were l/s cashmere sweaters that had unfinished cuffs like the s/l cashmere tees did before (perhaps still do). I have a lovely jungle green one from years ago. The crewneck l/s ones have a ribbed cuff at the wrist now I believe or at least they look finished at the cuff.

    2. Yes there sure were long sleeve cashmere t's. The sleeves and hem were straight at the bottom no knit in cuff. I think some had a double v neck as well.

    3. Thank you so much! I guess the s/s T will have to do. They seem to get good reviews and I've not seen the L/S Ts in a while.

  5. No sale promo at all. Just some weird coupons to
My email for staggered promo with max 40 off! It’s a blessing since I need nothing and just got 4 cashmere staples! Lol
Have a good day all !!!

    1. Totally. The lack of great promos is giving me permission me to not spend. I’m not really inspired by much right now anyway.
Probably better off just continuing to go through my stuff and taking out stuff I’m not going to wear anymore.
Life feels so weird right now. I don’t even think my day to day is much different than 13 months ago, aside from not eating out, but I guess I’m trying to be more honest with myself.

    2. I got that too! And not interested now.

Today I'm wearing and old old J Crew Collection blazer from Fall 2008 (961220. It is a 70'ish mod ivory/brown/black print, cropped , with wide uncuffed sleeves. Plus BR sequin wide leg pants (thanks to @Suz Has) & black suede boots. 'Cos I can wear whatever I want to work at home!

    3. Party of four, not interested. What are they planning to do with this stuff? Meanwhile Banana is 60% off sale every other day...

    4. Crazy! But I like not Bying stuff and saving money and time on returns! I am just shocked by the prices!

  7. Hello tippi fans, they have navy and black tippi back on website on the discount section. I grabbed once of each.

  8. Decided to test the ‘new and improved’ international shipping. Placed a small order last Thursday. Shipping was not confirmed until Monday, with an expected delivery by March 15, which is pretty much the same length as I would have had prior to their ‘amazing improvements’ lol. Today I received this email message:
“Thank you so much for shopping with us! We are experiencing a temporary shipping delay and it’s possible that your order may arrive after the promised delivery date. Keep an eye on your tracking number for the latest details – but we’re here if you have any questions in the meantime. Appreciate your patience and apologies for the possible delay.” Give me strength.
As a comparison, I placed a Factory order yesterday and in my experience they manage to get things to my Canadian door in FOUR business days.
So a month without international shipping as they made Incredible Improvements haha does not actually seem to have actually improved the process. I’m so not surprised *sigh*

    1. Hi Cagliari67, I got the same shipping delay email lol. I believe they will be using UPS (I hope) because that should be faster than Canada post once it ships. I read through the fine print and the only good thing I noticed was returns are $23 now instead of the previous $30. I was hoping we’d get better promos but who knows.

    2. Jan, I have to admit I was hoping that when they said we’d be thrilled with the changes in international shipping, that I’d be impressed. I would’ve been happy if they’d matched Factory’s level of speed and efficiency haha! But I have got to the point where I never return things. Since my last store closed down in January (during this last lockdown) I refuse to pay to return things by mail, which means I’m super careful with ordering. So I’m a bit disappointed with JCrew and their promises, and I’ll definitely be ordering less going forward.

    3. JCrew’s new motto “over promise, under deliver”. I so miss the JCrew of roughly 8 years ago when I happily paid full price, felt great about the quality and their service was outstanding.

  9. So true, JCrew Guy! Our last store closed here in TO during this last lockdown and I am going to miss it terribly, always a better experience than the website.
Just checked: my JCrew order is still sitting in Lynchburg. My Factory order, placed four days later, is scheduled to arrive this Friday - bang on their standard four-day shipping time. Just extraordinary.

  10. Nordstrom Rack has markdowns on Everlane cashmere and other sweaters again, plus lots of denim and pants. I have a loden cashmere raglan mockneck in my cart for $25 and a black wool teddy sweater for under $20.

    1. Also ordered the lightweight wide leg crops in black and ochre, for $35. I already have the black and love them, but maybe I’ll decide to take down the hem on one so they’re full length or just have a backup. Not final sale so I don’t mind experimenting with another color.

  11. BR and Gap...have pretty decent promos for Canadians. free shipping \returns. I have been liking alot. I buy the t shirts in tall...just because I like them just a little longer. J crew should do their tees in tall. I do find them too short...after washing. just my opinion though

    1. gap and old navy do the tee in tall. all three do alot of their pants in tall. I have tried these in the tall work out to be reg length ... not cropped ..on me. 5'5".

    2. Agree - would love a “long” option for J Crew tees and sweaters. Lately everything has been on the short side, at least on my long torso.

      Delete
    3. How many years have we asked for tall jackies? What's been the response? Crickets. I purchased some tees from Gap when the shutdown started and they were incredibly thin. A few weeks later I bought some from Factory. I had forgotten about their tees since I hadn't purchased anything from them in a long time. Why their tees are often thicker than J Crew tees I don't know. Last week, I returned item AW151, the Vintage cotton crewneck T-shirt in placed stripe, because it was so thin.

      Delete
    4. I totally agree! I’m only 5’5” but I have a long toro and a large bust so 21” or 22” inch tops don’t cut it for me. In the past Gap tall tees were my fav but the fabric quality has really declined. I used to be able to wear them alone but now they are too thin/sheer. I have tried to go up a size in JCrew to gain length but typically they just get wider. I have also found JCrew don’t keep their shape after washing (gentle, no dryer)...they shrink in the length and neck stretches out. I would seriously pay $100 for the perfect white tee if I could find it!

  12. I have the feeling most of us are just waiting for ... something. I have shorts and other summer stuff I bought on sale in late 2019, still unworn. I have Christmas ornaments from my 2019 year-end markdown dash&grab, still unhung. I have masks. I have dry pasta. I have unworn white denim jackets. I have an extremely well-stocked FirstAid shelf.

Many times I’ve found it hard to take certain much-adored fashion figures seriously, BUT in a recent interview a certain person was discussing some drastic changes in her professional life and she got on to the unavailability of fine fabrics. Heavy double-faced cashmere wovens, raw silks... if even someone whose design sense ranged from “put some sequins on it” to “put some more sequins on it” can recognize that Gresham’s Law applies to not just currency but also to the sourcing and manufacture of goods and services, I thought, I must protect my closet. And if possible replace anything that needs replacing, if a replacement can still be found.

    Otherwise, I just wait.

    1. I thought of this post last night when I was going through a bin of clothes I haven’t unpacked since I moved just over a year ago (extensive house renovations are still underway and I have no working closets!) I found several almost vintage Talbots Irish linen skirts and dresses. They are beautiful and the styles are classic! I’m glad I kept them and I wish I had kept the other pieces that I donated several years ago. Talbots no longer sells these beautiful linen separates.

    2. So true. I didn’t think I would be excited to see classic tippi delivered to my door that quickly 😀

    3. Your comment hit home for me @wellfedfred. I was discussing with a friend the size of my closet -- and my unwillingness to part with anything that fits that is of a good material because I think we're past easily finding good quality linen, silk, wool, and other fabrics. Right now I'm mostly in jeans for work with a variety of colorful blazers and blouses or tippis. Hopefully next fall back to some wool dresses again! I have a few unworn things but I expect I should get to cycle them through this summer.

I also have a well stocked first aid shelf!!

  13. I won't even begin my tale of the perfect white-T hunt! I have even tried the major magazines' "perfect white Ts" lists, and needless to say, I am still on the hunt.

    1. The Hanes basic white Ts has shown up on more than one list. Probably because of the availability to easily buy another and another without breaking the bank!!

    2. Funny, I am always on the hunt for this too. Last year I bought a raglan tee from Everlane in black and wish I also got it in white. It’s not the boxy raglan tee, it’s the other one. I’ve worn and washed quite a few times and still looks good. White of course might be different. I’ll look up the exact name. It might not be available in white because I was looking last week.
Sad to say most of my crew and madewell white tees have not held up. I was buying the madewell whisper cotton tee but the cut got skimpier. I have a bin full and my crew and madewell ones are only good for sleep or layering under sweaters right now.

    3. Anyone tried Sezane or Rag and Bone? I have had good luck with both. Both are expensive for basic tee.

    4. I ordered (not received yet) the gap new raglan tee. odrered the tall/ trying the "pink" colour. its organic cotton...I think.

    5. I’ve ordered Helmut Lang (on sale) and they’ve worn very well.

  14. I live in Winston-Salem, where there is a lot of pride in Hanes, as our last big publicly traded company. I've never liked the boxy cut of Hanes tees, though they certainly aren't see-through like every other white tee I've tried in recent years. If you love Hanes tees, I would grab them. The company has been in the news lately with unhappy investors and a new CEO who promises to "realign" the company, which of course, is corporate bureaucracy speak for layoffs and often changing (cheapening) longtime products.

  17. And thanks for the T-shirts info. My weight fluctuations sometimes work better with a boxy fit but I often want a more feminine look in the fitted Ts. I will check out Rag&Bone and HL. Not heard of Sezane but will look for that too. Thanks ladies. 😊 Always love the JCAs input. Hasn't failed me yet!!

    1. You are most welcome. For RagBone if you have a store I recommend trying out in store than waiting for their sale and buying on sale. For Sézane returns are free. I buy couple sizes and return. Let me know if you need sizing help.

  19. FYI retail me not has 5 percent cash back off Jcrew today.

This was all I ordered though.
Devon snake-print leather bag with detachable strap
    Style AQ332
    Color: DRY CINNAMON SNAKE

I like this size and cross body much better than the belt bags of a few years ago,
This is a new to me color in my wardrobe so while I’m into it I decided to go for it. I think it will be pretty versatile and go with a lot.

  20. Stopped in JC (downtown DC) today. Their coats are $99, plus cardlove. I knew that I should have gone to G'town!! If you can find your size, go for it.
