    1. I agree. And I feel like I barely got dressed last spring/summer so much of my
Clothing feels new. Black cotton/eyelet skirts I didn’t wear at all for a few years feel fresh with a new belt, white button down/popover and funky sneakers.
I’m hoping to really make more use of what I have and enjoy! But I always say that.

  2. Narvar shipping strikes again. My freshwater pearl earrings were supposed to be delivered on March 6, but the tracking trail ended on March 3 at the Greensboro post office. I kept expecting them to come but finally gave up and called customer service last night. They're sending me a new pair. I told them that this is the second package that's gone missing. I don't understand why they would continue to use such an inefficient means of delivery. Do they just write off these losses on taxes when this happens?

  3. Stopped in store today for try ons. Picked up Liberty Danjo Floral shirtdress. It’s a nice cotton option and fit is tts. Pretty print that feels like spring/summer. It was $125.99 in store with 30%% off sale and I stacked educator discount. Also, picked up pink gingham cashmere sweater. Fit is tts & relaxed. I like the side vents and the relaxed look. Will be great with white denim and sneakers. Full price in store, but matched online price and stacked educator discount. Liberty ruffle tunic looks really cute and would be fun as a cover up. Didn’t try on because it’s still full price. Glad to see these options in store, so I can try later. In store selection was better than usual.

    1. I've got a little crush on the sweater. Is it a thin cashmere or does it have some weight?

    2. It definitely has some weight to it. Heavier than a featherweight sweater, but not a winter heavy. Good luck if you decide to try it.

  4. Meanwhile, on the “improved international shipping” front - placed an order March 4. This is the progress so far:
March 8 awaiting dispatch - March 12 awaiting dispatch - March 12 arrived international hub - March 12 arrived destination country - March 15 arrived international hub (AGAIN?) - March 16 departed origin country (didn’t it already do that?) - March 16 awaiting dispatch (huh?) - March 16 arrived international hub - March 16 arrived destination country - March 16 departed international hub. Again. No idea where this shipment actually is or when/if it will arrive. (A Factory order placed March 8 arrived bang on time on the 12th, for comparison). Previously most orders would arrive in about 10 days. Going forward I will just wait for the border to reopen, I can get to Buffalo in less than two hours for pickups or to visit the Galleria store. So much for all the excited promo slogans. Oh, and those $36 Gemma’s you’re all loving are $156 here, in spite of our dollar being worth 0.80 right now. Hoping the Rainbow Bridge opens soon!

    1. I am sorry to hear that your experiences have been so frustrating. I need to probably exercise more restraint but I have become a big fan of ordering from the US website and using Shippsy as a cross border shipping option. Because I'm lazy, I have been having Shippsy mail it to my home after they receive. Even after paying for the service and then paying a bit extra to have them mail it to my house, the all in cost after currency conversion is much better than what I'd pay via the Canadian website. Based on your experiences, it sounds like even with this convoluted process that I am getting my stuff faster than if I ordered direct to my house via the Canadian website.

The US website also seems to have a larger sale section - which I don't quite understand. Maybe they are also showing in store inventory. I have been treating all items I buy this way as final sale.

I wrote (exhaustively) on Monday about my experiences with Shippsy.

Hope you eventually get your order.

I do miss the good old days when J Crew had the occasional free shipping to Canada, great promotions and easy returns to the local store. I thought it was the greatest thing ever when they introduced in store returns. Too bad it didn't last.

    2. Toronto Modern, I did read your Shippsy saga with great interest! I haven’t used a service since before the pandemic but certainly considering it now. But really I would be happy even just to drive to Buffalo.

I thought I would put JCrew to the test since they had been waxing delirious for two months about how fantastic their new international shipping ‘experience’ was going to be. It seems that in fact it is considerably worse than before, so any international JCAs should take note. I saw this morning that my package arrived yesterday at an “international hub” for the FOURTH time. No idea whether it just keeps returning to the same one or if it’s doing a tour round the world. I’ve had things come from China in less time.

    1. Omg I’m sorry but your comment made me laugh and gave me quite the visual. I haven't checked out the dresses but feel you since they’re not my thing either. No specific suggestions but I did notice banana has more of what I consider simple workwear styles in solids and less frilly silhouettes.

    2. I was in BR today. Worth a look.
