Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Linen Juliette Cardigan came and it’s right up my alley. I got the cornflower color in my normal size. It’s a summer version of one of my closet staples. Just wish they’d do a navy too.

The perfect fit bra tank was way off on sizing. Somebody reviewed it saying it was too snug and to order up two sizes, but that wasn’t true with the one I got. I’m a 34D/8/M and could’ve done a medium easily.

The tie waist seaside pant is off in sizing too. I got a M (since I hadn’t seen any reviews yet) and they’re big. Like the olive color and fabric composition/feel, but will need to exchange. Hoping the shorts aren’t too big too, they come later next week.

  2. Just received the Collection Silk Twill Flying Lobsters Blouse. The blue background is more on the dark teal side. Quality is nowhere the other silk twill collection blouses of the past. On the sheer side but not see through. Matching scarf is pretty but I question the dark color blue for summer for both items. Runs TTS. If you are busty I would size up one. Not sure if I will keep it even though I paid less than $64.00.

    1. Hi Lynn, thank you for the review. I’m waiting on the lobster dress which won’t arrive for a while. That’s too bad about the quality on the silk shirt.

  3. In Other Retailer queries, is anyone familiar with Helmut Lang pant sizing? Specifically number sizing (0, 2, 4...) versus 'XS/S/M/L' sizing? I have the Rider Legging in size: S, and it's a tad snug around the hips/waist. It was final sale. Well HL is always Final Sale unfortunately. Now I want the Classic Rider pants ... not sure what size to get. A Purseblog forum discussion states that their sizing is all over the place. So that doesn't help. FYI, I'm 5' 5"/117 lbs/ waist 26-27", and a size 0-2 in J.Crew bottoms.

    1. I used to wear HL and found they were on the smaller side. So if I was a JC2/XS, the HL2/XS would fit but be tight. Same with their dresses. I think they use European fit, which is leaner than US?

  4. Thank you eeps! I will go with the 4.

I spoke to CS and was offered a one-time exception in case the pants don't fit. HL is having a 'Surplus Sale' and the black Classic Rider Leggings is marked down quite a bit. It was full price prior.

  5. Thoughts on AM099? Dip dyed linen beach sweater. Not sure if I should size down. Thought I would order in the Monaco Blue:) Thanks

    1. That's the color I'd pick, and I only live in NJ.

I prefer that sort of sweater on the loose side for comfort. Also, I have long arms so sizing down usually = sleeves too short.

    2. Hi Lynn, I haven’t tried that sweater but the blue looks pretty. When I see relaxed fit mentioned I usually have to size down in jcrew. The length says 23” which for me would be a concern but I have a long torso. If you buy it I hope that it works for you!

    3. @pbanos, that’s a good point about the arms.

    4. @pbanos, you have coastline too!! Seriously, the blue looks so pretty. I too, have very long arms, I like a relaxed fit but not sloppy look. I would wear over white jeans, shorts or a white skirt. Thank you. Hope all is going well for you in NJ. Very pretty state.

  6. Hi Jan, thank you for your input. I think I will size down on this. If it doesn’t work they have plenty of stock so I was told. Hope all is well where you are.

  7. Ladies, a little bird told me there was supposed to be a flash sale between 1-2 pm today. She told me had no idea why they pulled it and perhaps it might be later today. Keep an eye on your emails we may be surprised.

    1. oooo, did it ever happen? I checked a few times. A few new things I'd wouldn't mind trying out... I thought they'd have a new/better promo today for May 1st/May Day, but maybe tomorrow or Monday.

    2. @Julielion96, evidently not today. She didn’t guarantee when but I’m sure we’ll get something.

  8. Business Insider is reporting that JCrew will probably be declaring bankruptcy this weekend. Not a real surprise, but still a disappointment.

    2. Thanks for the link, Lynn! It sums things up well. The marketplace has changed drastically in the past decade, I wonder what comes next?

    3. That was a nice article to read, thank you! I’m hoping that this crisis will encourage more people to buy quality vs quantity. Maybe this can be a reset for JCrew, I’m praying that they try to restructure vs liquidate.

    4. Spot on: luxury, value, and longevity, qualities we’re all craving.
I ordered the Slingback sandals in leopard calf hair. Beautiful, classic crew in my book. If they are as good in person as expected, I'll go back for the gold and black.

  9. I received my order from last week.
CROPPED WIDE-LEG PANT IN 365 CREPE
Item AB659 Size: 00 Color: BLACK

These were originally available in three colors, black, teal and a rusty brown color. Now I see they’ve made a chino version. These ended up reduced super low so I gave them a shot. The fit is nicer than expected. I almost wish the hips were the tiniest bit bigger but they don’t look tight at all. The length is perfect. It’s a super high rise. I love that there are belt loops. These will be great dress pants when I don’t want to wear my wool or leather but could be fine with sandals or dresses down too.

The only weird thing. The tags are attached but the edge of the front pockets is dirty. Like a whitish rubbing. Makeup? Hand cream? I don’t know, it’s bizarre. I will blot the stains with a damp rag to see if they come out.

    1. Glad those worked out for you! I've seen makeup stains on new clothing before, it's such a shame. But I bet it will wash out fine.

Once I returned a top that came with a bad makeup stain, and the store manager just refunded me and said to keep it if I wanted to try to take the stain out. It took some work with soap and peroxide, but did come 99% clean finally.

    2. I do assume the stains will come out but it’s just a weird place. It’s on both pockets. At any rate I’ll try to get it out.

  10. OT but worthwhile read about “cheap clothes.”

    1. That is interesting. But TWO tshirts? I’m trying to be more conscious of my purchases but if I only owned two tshirts I’d have to do laundry every other day. All that washing isn’t going to help the environment either.

    2. I saw that one yesterday, it’s a good read. I’ve been meaning to watch some of the fast fashion documentaries as well.
