This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I am strangely both disappointed and relieved that there is no promo code available for the sales items....

  2. Agree .,.. 2500 items on sale section. No promo. Ughh

  3. My guess is tomorrow maybe since markdowns are usually on Thursday? Either way I echo TM - I'm relieved and disappointed.

  4. when I saw 2500 items, i thought that at this rate without promos, it'll be the right season for most of those items again and JC won't even need to put out a new fall collection - they can save the $ and pass off last fall's inventory as this year's.

  5. I have read the reviews on the Sadie boots but wanted to ask from people that I "know". The reviews go from 4/5 stars to 1, with few stars in between. I found a pair during one of the great sales and haven't wanted to return them, love the color. Any opinions? I hadn't seen much discussion or I missed it. Thanks!

    1. I had the Sadies in silk tie print. I liked them and they were comfortable, I had a little problem with the zipper possibly due to the material (it caught easily). I returned them because I also got the black captoe boots at the same time, and decided I liked the black boots better, was easier to match, and the heel wasn't as high as the Sadie (I can't heels anymore so even the Sadie ones were daunting). It was snug in my usual size, a little tight in width.

    2. I have them in the sand color and love them. I cannot wear heels as I did when I was younger but find them comfortable enough to wear casually. I would get them in every shade if I could. Highly recommend. My regular size was perfect. I am always a 7 in any shoe (sneaker, heel, boot, flat) and that is what I took . HTH!

    3. My first was the deep redwood which I bought because I have a coat that same color. I then got the gold and sand, both less expensive. I ended up selling the gold and sand and only kept the redwood. I don’t love skinny jeans tucked into them on me (at least not the colors I have) and wear them with boyfriend type jeans cuffed. I also wore my black and snakeskin CAPTOE boots much more often.
But...since I don’t wear much color and even less in the winter, I love how the redwood matches the coat and I can wear jeans and a black sweater with the boots and coat without feeling like it’s too much.

  6. I had a birthday ‘gift’ of $25 to use as a cardholder. Not finding anything else to buy (seriously!), I ordered a lip gloss and hair clip. The gloss was $20, so it ate up most of the gift card. The box arrives, but inside the lip gloss box is a lip coat of another brand and color. Not offensively ugly, but not what I ordered, and who knows if it’s even unused, since someone swapped out the product. Emailed JC, and they told me to keep it (wow), and credited back the $2.69 I paid after the gc. I wrote back and thanked them, but pointed out this is unusable, and I’m out the $20 gc. They gave me the ‘we don’t usually do this, but we will price match (?) another lipstick for you.’ Geez-really? I can order another lip product I don’t want for only $2.69?? I know $20 is negligible, but I’ve been a customer forever, and the gc is really the only perk only offered to cardholders now. This is prob the final straw that will get me to cancel the card. So it’s actually a happy ending :)

    1. This is ridiculous. They should send you a replacement lip gloss right away, as it was THEIR mess-up. If the lip gloss is not available they should give you another gift card. This should not be difficult to get right JC!

    2. $20 is not negligible in my book! I agree, immediate shipment of a new lip gloss or a $20 gc/store credit and a note of appreciation to you as a customer (wishful thinking, huh?? Or perhaps just the puppy email)

    3. Not cool at all. Unacceptable.

  8. Am I the only person who looks at this season’s (and some of last season) shoes wondering if the designer was high? What is up with the pointy shoes? Almost every shoes is pointy. And the clothes are mostly blah. Good for my wallet, but how do you plan to survive pumping out this crap JCrew?

    1. I agree and am not finding much I like at JC anymore. I don't mind pointy toe shoes, but JC shoes do not seem to be as well made, and they are not comfortable like they used to be. I would love it if they brought back the Cece. Someone mentioned the Sadie boot above - and I do like this style alot (though not comfortable enough for everyday.) Part of me wishes they would have better styles, but I find I am just drifting away from buing much at JC.

  9. I was in the store. It makes me sad how I'm not interested in anything there now. I still look, but I rarely buy. Thumbs up on the crossbody purses this year, those were awesome, but aside from that there wasn't much I liked.

  10. I tried getting a teacher/student code from the factory, but it kept giving me a code that expired in 2017. I'm sure I can call to get the extra 20% off, but still very annoying, especially since they may not honor the discount.
