J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Just visited for returns. Although I have a few items on my wishlist none were in store. I tried on the camo rain coat which is super cute, but skimpy on my long arms. I’d have to go with the tall. The fabric has a nice sheen and a few well thought out details like extra pockets.
Otherwise there was nada I was interested aside from white sneakers with black laces in and no percentage off sale.

  2. Item L5009, Point Sur Seaside Wide Leg Crop in linen TENCEL - true to size, very comfortable, does not wrinkle easily and good for hot weather. I haven't washed it yet but will do it tonight. Grey color goes with everything.

    1. I really don’t need pants but liked this when I saw them online. I think I’d want the tall, not sure I love a 23” inseam. How is the length?

  3. Ordered a bunch of new arrivals. Love the rose embroidered tee, the bright rose colored Jackie, the leopard print vintage tee and the leopard print sweatshirt (though it is a little short). On the fence about the puff sleeve leopard print tee as I'm not quite sure of the sleeves. Of course I love the new colors of the perfect fit tee; the vintage smoke color is more of a marled gray with a thicker textured fabric. I like it a lot. Went a little crazy with the leopard and unfortunately for my wallet, I'm probably keeping most of it. ;)

  4. When I was in the store last week for returns I tried on the new olive/navy/pink Crewneck Sweater in Leopard. The fit was odd, TTS in the body but the sleeves were very baggy.

  5. Here's a review of returning by mail: thumbs down. I got a package to UPS 5 days before the return deadline. The package got to its destination 2 days before the deadline. But it was not processed until 2 days after the return deadline. So instead of crediting my card, I was issued a store credit--ie, Jcrew gets to keep my money because the company has a slow process.

I didn't contact CS about this because it was around $50. But it seems money-grubbing on the part of the company, and it's something to be aware of.

On another topic, I find myself responding to items that say "only a few left" or "90 people looked at this item in the past hour."

Like many retailers, JC uses these tactics:

    1. That seems very unfair to you! I know it’s been mentioned on here before and I don’t know how they get away with that. If it’s received before the deadline it should absolutely qualify for a refund not on a gift card.

  6. The leopard is getting to us! (or we're getting to the leopard) I'm wearing the sleeveless leopard tie neck top today and the leopard bow gladiator flats from a few seasons ago. I'd been eyeing the Demy Lee leopard dress popback every time it comes back online. I don't know why the new leopard isn't appealing to me as much.

@Suz Has - I'm glad I'm not the only one eyeing the camo rain jacket!! I can't explain why I'm oddly drawn to it even though I own no camo.

    1. EEPS, the contrast is subtle. FWIW I have a gap cotton camp jacket with a removable liner and faux fur trim hood that I bought prob close to ten years ago...all of my girls have worn and used this jacket, it’s not currently in my possession, so I guess I can buy this one.

  7. More of a vent but I don't understand why J. Crew stopped selling most of its tops in numerical sizing as well as petites/tall. This has created lots of fit issues for me, such as many tops now being too low-cut for me. The increased use of polyester I can overlook, but I'm really missing the attention to details that J. Crew used to have. Here's hoping the new designer will bring in some new styling, but that won't be for a while.

  8. Real heartbreak, JC...I found the tall high heeled boot on pop back in my size. I have waited a long time. I was overly excited when my order arrived today until I realized that the 8-1/2 boot was just nesting in my size 11 box. I should have known that it was too good to be true. My boot has been looooong gone. I had major plans for them, man-made soles and all! :^)

    1. Oh no. That is the worst kind of J. Crew tragedy. I’m so sorry!
