Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. A few new arrivals at Nordstrom. Lots of leopard, a poplin midi dress that doesn’t look bra friendly, and a pretty cotton Victorian blouse.

  2. Nothing for me. I bought one shirt this month and I don't plan on buying anything else. I have a major closet purge coming soon too.

  3. I stopped in yesterday for a few returns - the apron dress went back and I decided that the chambray tencel s/s dress was going back. I ordered that in an 8 T - I really need a 6 top and a 10 bottom in that dress - it kept riding up and I knew it wouldn't be comfortable so back it went.

I did order a few things with the 50 off sale yesterday - the tencel black tank, black paper bag shorts (have been loving my navy ones but nervous to wash them since they're viscose...)

I also recently purchased the Madewell denim pleated shorts (on sale for $39.99 before extra % off) and they are SO CUTE. The high waisted style works well on my shape and I often have trouble with the legs being too tight. The fit is similar to the liberty tie waist shorts and the poplin tie waist shorts with a longer inseam. They are a little retro and a little mom jean-ish but I will be wearing them a lot this summer. I ended up with a size 8 which is my bottom size - you could probably size down if you are straighter as I do have some room in the front pleated area. I was skeptical about the good reviews on these but I have to concur :)

I am wondering if we'll see a better sale from Crew on the summer stuff soon? In the past the really good sales have been end of July I thought.

    Happy weekend everyone!

    1. Anne, I was considering those shorts but have the crew tie waist ones in Chambray. Seems redundant! I also have the black paper bag waist ones and just washed them. They’re rayon and I hung them to dry, steamed them and they are not perfect. Since I steamed them when they were damp I laid them out on a drying rack and they have a heavy crease from where they extended over, kind of as expected. However they’re comfy and look cute, although I do find they stick and kind of ride up. If I didn’t need to wash them I wouldn’t have.

  4. I am getting a delivery of 7 items today, different sizes on some of the same stuff, and will be going in tomorrow. Speaking of which - does anyone have feedback on the Peyton linen pants? Things generally don't hit my radar until the price drops so I probably missed any earlier reviews.

    2. @Cheri I did a review of the button up romper for you in yesterdays thread.
Summary: Surprise keeper, runs large on top and long in waist. Take your smaller size.

    3. Pants were Awful with a capital A on me. So were boyfriend jeans. There was nothing boyfriend about them. 7 pairs of pants going back tomorrow!

Oh, great news P! Yay for you! Will go read full review.

    4. I tried the peytons in 4 season and my larger size was too small in the hips and legs. Made for a straight figure with slender thighs, not me. Failed on a pair of 'straight leg' jeans for the same reason. They fit me like skinny jeans, not straight leg.

    5. PBanos, same. 100 percent. That’s what I keep thinking. The pants seem to be made for someone straighter. The proportions are wrong for my body. I didn’t try the Peytons but just seeing them that was my thinking.

  5. My store was offering 40% off jewelry today, so I picked up the Flower and Crystal Door Knocker earrings. I don't see the same offering online. It mystifies me why J.Crew has different promotions in store vs. online. I remember buying the Liberty Josephine shirt for $29 and it was offered at over $100 in store (my store price matched). Double check all of your items!

    1. I stopped in to return something and was surprised that the store had no % off sale. They had 30 or 40% off shoes and jewelry and perhaps dresses. Nothing worth browsing, but I agree the promos are always different, which is confusing.

  6. Looking forward to new arrivals. I've been really disappointed with fashion in general lately, not even J. Crew specifically. So much mid-priced fashion out there but so much is poorly sized, bad quality, or just plain uninspired.

    1. Totally agree. Mid market brands now have such poor quality I have completely lost interest. Outside of JC purchases I have only bought a single non JC shirt in the past 10 months.

  7. A bit off topic: I stopped by Old Navy the other day and came across the Pixie Chinos. I have a few other pairs of regular Pixie pants, which I really like so I thought the Chinos would be worth a try. I have some pretty old J. Crew Andies that should probably be replaced. Overall the Old Navy Pixie Chinos were a hit. I will say the fabric is quite thin (97% Cotton, 3% Spandex) but I think that will be good for summer because I don't like to wear shorts much.

    1. I have some Pixies, and while I like the fit I find they stretch out a lot and become saggy. Laundering them sets the size back to normal again but I hate having to wash my pants after every wear. Do you find the same problem with the chinos?

  8. Stopped by to see Bristol pebbled leather fanny pack in saddle color. It's really cute and works better for me than the Madewell version. Fits a thin wallet, cell phone and reading glasses; everything I'll need while roaming on vacation in Spain and Ghana. It was full price in store, but SA matched online price.

    1. I love my red one. I don’t need the saddle since I got the Madewell one in saddle but I’d consider the blush as well. It’s a nice size. The one thing I like about the Madewell one is that it sits very close to the body.

  9. This week I bought a pretty yellow cashmere crew neck sweater for about $37. Been waiting for this color to go on sale. They had 10 other colors on sale with 50 off. Now they all back to reg price $98. Hard to think sweaters in 100 degrees but why put them back to reg price? To many pricing games lately...

  10. Everlane's Day Market Tote is on "special" today for $125 (think (Duchess of Sussex!) The cost analysis tripped me up since it is still over 50% on the transparent cost...but that is just me. It is a cute bag though!!

  11. I have browsed a few things lately, and have been shocked to see items that were on promo for $25 or $30 jump to full price ($110, $125) overnight. Pricing games turn me off enough to stop looking.

    1. Yep. I bought a pair of the nordic boots last week. I showed a friend the boots when they arrived. She then went to order a pair but called me asking if I had made a mistake in the price to thought I had paid. The boots are now priced at 7 times the price I paid and back to regular price. They are also back ordered until November. While I am glad I got them, had I known, I would have purchased a few pairs as gifts.

    2. Those must be next years boots and you snagged a pair from last winter. I did too earlier this year (for $15!)- they are super comfortable and tts. Suggest you waterproof them, some people said they stained quickly from salty slush.

    3. There are lots of sprays on the market. Meltonian Water & Stain Protector, Scotchgard Suede & Nubuck Protector. If they are light color avoid silicon sprays. You need to reapply after a while.

    4. I love my Nordic boots. I got them this year and then got a pair for my Boston daughter (or backup for me). Paid more than $15 but still wore them plenty and they’re great for my everyday lifestyle.

  12. Factory is having an extra 70% off clearance until 6 am with code nightsale. However, the site is a mess. I wait for these huge sales each year to stock up on clothes for my 3 girls but looks like I might sit this one out. Unless I have insomnia in the middle of the night and the site is working better.

  13. Actually site is not working at all.. ughh not unusual during sale
