"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Huge sale update but no extra discount...not biting. Do we think that 60% off sale is the best we'll see for summer "clearance" or are we in for another round?

    1. I didn't even check the sale section after noticing there was no extra discount. Hopefully we'll see another 50 or 60% off sale soon. Pretty sure they'll want to get rid of the summer merch before the fall rollout.

    2. Same, shopalot!
They will have to unload this stuff. Plus we still have Labor Day, which is a good reason for a sale.

    3. I don’t even want to look since there’s no % off. The latest promos have excluded lots of new items so full price promos haven’t tempted me either.

    4. Then again, considering there are still lots of velvet tank tops and other oldies hanging out in the sale section, maybe they DON'T want to get rid of it all. ;)

    5. They must have really spent a lot on those velvet tanks that they are still lingering...

    6. I actually have a velvet tank (plaid) that I picked up for less than $6. It's really kind of nice, but sort of an odd seasonal top. Plaid+velvet = winter. Tank = summer. Works for a holiday event top, or under a jacket in fall and winter. But I sure wasn't interested in more than one at any price.

  3. POINT SUR HIGH-RISE BOYFRIEND JEAN IN WORN AND REPAIRED WASH
    Item K8365
These are dreadful. High rise, check. Slim boy jean, not at all. Easy return.

    1. Are they too slim or not slim enough? I had tried a different pair of slim boyfriends and they were like high rise skinny jeans with an unflattering cut on me. Probably due to my big legs, someone with slender thighs and calves would not have had that issue.

    2. Suz, I am glad it was an easy decision.
p, I have slender thighs and very thin calves and that is how the white slim boyfriends fit me! Mind you I have 5 other pairs of slim boyfriends in the same size! The cuts are just wonky.

    3. Most of my slim boyfriends fit more like skinny jeans, especially if I go down a size so that they aren't drooping in the rear. I agree, it's a weird cut that never looks boyfriend, at least on my figure.

    4. The cut is just not at all boyfriend. It’s more like a high rise crop flare. Sizing up,or down won’t work. And they used a small zipper on the high rise which I despise. They’re just bad.

  4. I got everything from my recent order aside from espadrilles.

Sweater tank. I ordered a medium in black because that was all that was available. It fits loose like a sweater and it’s not too loose on top so I like the fit but the negatives are it smells really funny. Not sure if it’s plasticky or chemical or from the dye, and there is a discoloration on the front of the sweater that upon closer inspection looks like the threads melted.

Embroidered flutter sleeve top. This,is,a dark navy, not black on white with some gold. If the flutter was more subtle I’d keep it but it’s too much overall for me.

Leather back pack in the pink/white/black colorblock. I like this a lot but don’t know if I love the colors. I feel like in person the three colors might be too much. Have to try it with a few things. The leather is nice and it’s comfortable on. Plus I love the gold zipper

    1. Let us know what you decide about the Harper pack. I think it's pretty, and your travel bag doesn't have to be totally matched to your outfit. The primary shade is pink, so you need to make your peace with that.

    2. I second p, that was a perfect explanation. The primary shade is pink, so you need to make your peace with that.
You may always be really excited to reach for it!

    3. Well typically my travel outfits are black, denim, white button downs and some red and or pink accessories. So it could work...

    4. Take pictures, seeing it that way may help.

  5. Here's a rant against Anthropologie: What is the benefit of being an anthroperks member? I mean, free shipping for $150 or more? That should be for everyone. They sent me an email today on a jacket that I found back in March. It was overpriced, so I waited. Just went on sale now. Put it in my basket and not only would I not have free shipping, but it's also out of stock! Yet, it still has my size on the website. WTF?? They're idiots.
