"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Not a vent but I purchased the Jackie cardigan with the sequin flowers. I bought the lilac one. I noticed it was dry clean only and wool. I was hoping to hand wash it but I don’t want to ruin. If anyone has one of the sweaters with sequins, have you ever hand washed? The sweater is such a light color it may need dry cleaning more often than I like.

    1. You can't wash sequins. I have sequin tops and have never washed any of them, except a cotton tank once. I did it inside out and I think it was ok, but it was so long ago I can't remember. (the sequin tank JC had back in like, 2009). Sorry!

    2. Well, you can't wash glued on sequins. But sewn on should be ok. I'd turn it inside out, cold water soak with minimal baby soap, rinse out by soaking twice, then press on a dry towel(s) to get out extra water. Do not twist. Reshape and dry flat. Don't use an enzyme detergent, it can dull the sequins.

Some dry cleaners don't even take sequins since they can get damaged.

  2. Why are they offering a high neck tunic dress in black and dark green in the middle of summer?? Makes no sense. Yeah, there's another sale but it's just not exciting. I never buy anything anymore. And when I do, I wonder if I should return it.

  3. Saw some shoes on a model in photos for a dress and wrote to help@jcrew for an answer as to what they are after I couldn't find them online. It took two days for them to write back to say, basically, they have no idea...Really? So I sent a DM on Twitter and actually got an answer as to what they are. Still don't know when they are going to be put on sale, as I was told to "check the site in the coming weeks." Don't they want to make money and keep relationships with customers?
