J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. What did everyone buy with the 60% off sale?
What are some items you are still hunting?

As previously posted, I got the ratti kaleidoscope blouse and embroidered flamingo tee. I'm still looking for any shoes on sale.

    1. I ordered two tech fabric polos for the Mr.
Scuba diver and beach babe socks as gifts for scuba diving friends.
I have too much clothing, and need nothing. (I ordered the Liberty print Gola hightops, blue/white poplin wrap dress, a yellow denim jacket, and a popback of the round crossbody - not FS) Awful. I'm going to need to start listing on Posh.

    2. I ordered the 365 crepe dress in black, black straw circle purse, and bought the resort sunglasses during the 50% flash sale. I am kicking myself for not getting the ivory Sophie sweater yesterday but oh well. I'm always stalking shoes and classic pieces but nothing is top of mind right now and agreed, feeling like I have so much and really need nothing. I am continuing to clean out and sell on eBay - trying to list a few things every weekend.

    3. The Liberty print Gola hightops arrived today. I am usually a 10, and I ordered a 10. There were no half sizes. The 10 is a good fit with socks (which is how I wear hightops). If you are a 1/2 size you might go down. But a full size down would have been tight I am sure.

Also received the yellow denim jacket. I call it a keeper not just because it was FS. I love the super bright (not neon, however) yellow. The design is with oversized shoulders. I'm a 4 in dresses and 6 in jackets (due to my muscular&wide shoulders) So in Small it is a bit wide, which will make layering easy as we get into Fall. If you have very narrow shoulders it will be large, you might size down. But the sleeves are not particularly long - I needed the S for sleeve length.

I've tried on the poplin stripe wrap dress, and took a 4 which is TTS (for J.Crew). It does have a low wrap neckline, and requires a cami. It's the same design as the crepe wrap dresses. It's also just above the knee on me at 5'7". The Mr. said it was pretty so I ordered one at $17.

The sox arrived for our little gift, and they are cute. If you have a scuba diving male friend this is a fun little present.

The cross body is exactly what I expected. Trying to justify keeping it since I do have a clutch in the same color (chestnut). But it is a nice bag, and not a lot of $'s so likely it will stay.

    4. I returned the wrap poplin dress, couldn’t make the low V neck work and didn’t want to wear a cami under. Also way too long as I’m 5’1 and it came off as dowdy on me. If it’s that long on 5’7..!

    5. I am waiting on the pointed-toe woven flats with ankle strap (white), Reeds X J.Crew anchor collar sleeveless sweater, and tiered maxi dress in shirting stripes. Should all be here by Friday. I desperately need to stop buying shoes. I have so many JC flats now that I've completely run out of room, and need to pack a donation bag this weekend to claw some space back! I've started a thing where if I sell one thing on Posh, I try to list at least two.

    6. @eeps I moved all my sneakers and winter boots to the guest room closet. And I'm still out of room. I managed to give a pair of sandals to a family member, and hope she can take a couple of loafers next time I see her. She's 1/2 size smaller, so shoes that are a wee bit tight can find a better home.

  2. I tried L7717, the Tall scoopneck midi dress with eyelet trim in organic cotton. I agree with one of the reviews of the classic size that the white version of the dress is slightly see-through. You can definitely see the pockets. Other than that, for me, it was true to size. I actually liked the green version better, but I had ordered a larger size since the Tall Medium was out of stock. I'll just wait for the Tall Medium in Frosty Olive to show up on the website again. I would have kept the white version if it wasn't see-through.

OT - I wonder when the trend of short and wide is going to end. J.Crew went all in on the short, wide and cropped trend and I wonder if it's affecting their bottom line. In addition to all those short tops, they're also producing a lot of cropped wide leg pants and jumpsuits.

    1. I wonder about that trend, too, since Madewell also went all in. I tried on some pairs to see what all the fuss was about, but they looked really goofy on me.

    2. I must be the exception. I have a smaller waist and hips, but large muscular thighs and calves. Wide legs are the perfect solution for me to get pants that fit in my waist and are not squeezing my legs. And shorter lengths are cool for summer, not as cool as a skirt, but still way better than long tight pants. Plus they show off cute shoes.

    3. I agree with you, Monica Bonica. Short and wide is not flattering on me at all. I think it's a hard look for most body types to pull off. I started purchasing the tall sizes a few years ago just to get some added length. I really wish the trend would go away.

pbanos - I do like the wide leg pants, just not the short and wide tops. It sounds like our body shapes are similar, and I agree with you that it has at least been easier to find pants that fit now.
