J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Not gonna lie: love the Pointed-toe pumps in mixed jacquard silk... But there's no way I can wear them. I'd break my ankles. I would love to see them in a pointed toe ballet flat. (I'm not so sure about the slides version)

    1. I'm tempted, too :-) It seems like there are quite a few super tall heels in the roll out, and I wonder how well they actually sell. They're beautiful to look at, though.

    2. Gorgeous shoes, thanks for pointing them out! I’m steadfast in my high heels ban, but it’s fun to look.

  2. I had a few things in my cart and left and came back to them all gone. A few things that randomly show up and disappear.

  3. Disappointed that the new arrival Liberty perfect shirt (elderberry) is a print J Crew already used a few years ago. Liberty has so many amazing prints - why can't they pick a different pattern or at least a different colorway?

  4. Bringing forward reviews of some recent items from the 'prime' sale:

    1. Tie front tank top L8137 The bold red is more orange than red. This is an adorable top. It runs large, the S fits me loosely. Love the elastic waist in the back. It's a little low cut for me for work, have to try it out with a tshirt underneath. Even if I only wear for weekends it is a keeper.

    2. Women's 1988 rollneck™ cropped sweater in dot L5875. Based on reviews I sized up to M which is a good call. It's a bit boxy, but the all cotton knit is loose and soft enough to drape. The sleeves are bracelet length. This version is navy with giant polka dots. Cuter than I expected, a keeper.

    3.Pencil skirt in stretch denim L4790 Clean indigo wash. When my husband saw it he said "I'm not a fan of denim skirts" but after he saw me wearing it he changed his mind. I took my smaller size 26 (there were no 27s left when I ordered). It fits TTS, the waist is perfect. It is not loose in the rump or hips, but I think a size up would be too large. The denim has some stretch, so this is easy to wear. I like the medium not-distressed wash - I could wear this to work with a loose top or a short jacket. I wouldn't have picked at full price, but it is also a keeper.

    4. Trumpet skirt in Liberty® Favourite Flowers L4855. This was not my usual style, but with the price and no final sale I decided to try. I took my larger size 4 based on reviews. Good thing, the 2 would never have fit. The waist is fine, but the trumpet shape does cling to your assets if you know what I mean. I do think a 6 would be too large, since the waist is a good fit. The fabric is lovely, cheery and light. I was afraid of a Little House on the Prairie vibe, but with the bright colors and the well shaped ruffle it looks fresh and dramatic not old-timey. Keeper.

    5. Button-up romper L8128. This was the wild card. I ordered a 4 and a 6. I'm a 4 or 6 in tops and a 2 or 4 in pants. I did not even open the 6, as the 4 is quite roomy on top and in the bottom. I like the loose fit, as it keeps this romper looking mature. I have the frosty olive (all pink would have been a lot of pink...). It needs a bright scarf or earrings for contrast. Surprised the hubs liked it a lot and said it made me look slim, which means automatic keeper. The crotch does run a bit low on me, as I am short waisted. But that also means a bit more leg length than I expected. I'm going to try it out with some of my other belts. It reminds me of a jumpsuit I had in the mid-1980's that I loved.
    I've worn this two days already and like the loose fit, but definitely take your smaller size.

    1. I forgot about this even though you reminded me, so thank you! Sounds like you had a lot of hits. So glad to hear about the romper, too. I returned everything I bought today, whomp.
