This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
48 hours promo is working with pjs and slippers currently on sale @ up to 50% off & sale items like New Balance 520 sneakers. Winter sale promo wouldn’t stack, but new one is currently.
ReplyDeleteThank you! The women's slippers went back up to full price but I was able to get the boy and the mister matching slippers for a cool $21, and that was actually on my list for them both! Matching is bonus!
DeleteHappy to help! Glad you were able to score some items.
DeleteThat was an absolutely amazing deal on sleepwear. Great gifts! Thanks, Mygoddy, for sharing it. I had the gorgeous tartan pjs and slippers in my cart...then I reminded myself that I have more than enough pjs and I just bought new slippers from LL Bean. It was tough, but I closed the browser window and went to bed without ordering. It was a good exercise for my weak self control, lol.
Delete@Jeanne LOL! You’re not alone on the self-control. I also had the tartan pjs and dot flame pjs in my cart, but didn’t order since I too have enough pjs. I did order the embroodered loafer slippers in tartan and both colors of the New Balance 520s. I’m a fan of NB and wear them often, so $28 sneakers is a yes, for sure.
DeleteThat's a great price on the sneaksers. I had the in my cart for a minute, too, but I also don't need more sneakers. I mainly wear Converse All Stars when I wear sneakers, and I already own them in a rainbow of colors. Lets face it; I need absolutely nothing, no matter how cute and cheap it is.
Delete*sneakers, not sneaksers
Deleteembroidered not embroodered.
DeleteThanks for the heads up @mygoddy! Got the tartan mocassins for a cool $11 and threw in a pair for my daughter too. I was able to stack a 15% off code from the Style Guide. I’m thinking this might be a witching hour score though ;-)
ReplyDeleteYeah! Had to call CS this morning since code wouldn’t stack. Yep, it was definitely a magic hour score.
Deleteso you were able to get 49% off the 50% off pjs and combine the 15% off from the US only style guide ? wow stuff was practically free. I wish Canada would get a least a free shipping day.
DeleteI am always amazed at the deals US customers get.
Deleteshould say...I am always happy for the US JCA's who get amazing deals..
Delete@unknown thanks!! Sure was a lucky score as a few hours later the moccasins had gone back to $49, still not a bad deal with 48% off.
DeleteSale is now "final sale". Pass.
ReplyDeleteUgghh. But I guess Is should thank J Crew. I have placed way too many orders start with the pre-Black Friday period. (The prices made even $12 shipping per order acceptable.) This will put a stop to the orders, since $12 shipping plus Final Sale is an unpalatable combination.
DeleteI am done as well. I thought there would be more new arrivals today. I see one new point sur sweater more statement tee shirts, overalls (velet and denim ) and one pair of earings.
Deleteoh...just looked again. 4 sleeveless ratti collection dresses. pretty but i get cold just looking at them. look like dresses for very fancy occasions.
Deletewas hoping to see 'J Crews new plaid " that Ina told us about yesterday. anyone see it?
Deletethose Ratti dresses...$900 -1000 + Canadain $ WOW.
Delete-The placement of the front waist panel of the Ratti garden floral jacquard dress is really unfortunate. It's the visually heaviest panel on that dress and makes the model's stomach look wide.
Delete-The fluted sheath dress is gorgeous but looks like Anthropologie for double the price, which is ridiculous because Anthropologie prices are already high as they are.
-Whose body is the cocoon dress supposed to accentuate??
-Kind of love the giraffe jacquard print but up close it also looks like a hot mess that was painted on.
- Love the floral Ratti topcoat but don't love the metallic sheen on the fabric. It looks super Anthropologie.
@Unknown, I think the plain on item number K7435 matches the description Ina provided yesterday. Link here.
DeleteIsn't the chiffon black watch dress like that pattern too? I wonder if there will be more new arrivals later in the week regardless.
DeleteOn another note. I wore my Sammie pale rose corduroy pants yesterday. I had forgotten how much I loved them. Really need to "shop my closet" more.
ReplyDeleteSame! The really good stuff is already in my closet! I’m planning to buy some upgraded buttons for some J.Crew blazers from a few years ago. I like them, but I think the buttons look cheap. Sometimes a little change makes a garment feel brand new again. I switched out the cheap gold buttons on the Boiled Wool Regalia Sweater Jacket (circa 2009) for some much better quality silver crested buttons and it made a world of difference.
DeleteWebsite issues again. Had trouble
ReplyDeleteChecking out
While on J Crew this morning - saw my order for the velvet drapey shirt was cancelled. I wanted this as soon as I saw it in the rollout so I'm completely bummed, as it's sold out. Now I will stalk :(

Deletehad my glen plaid blazer with ruffle pocket detailed cancelled "wish we had enough" .on the US site it shows up in a full run of sizes. Canadian site only in tall. come on...if you have it why not ship to Canada ?
Deletefinal sale. no thanks.
DeleteUS site shows stock that is available at stores as well as in the warehouse. Canadian site shows only what is in the warehouse, as US stores cannot ship to Canada (nor Canadian stores either). Ran into this one myself a few months ago and called CS for explanation. Frustrating but no solution other than to wait for things to get shipped back to warehouse.
DeleteI must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. I just sent an email asking JCrew to explain my cancelled blazer.
Deletethey have not responded to the past three I have sent (even though all were very polite) I called the other day and was told they are sooo backed up with orders and emails ...it is no wonder we are all waiting on 2 week old orders to be delivered.
Then I don't understand why they'd launch a flash sale today knowing that 1. their inventory hasn't caught up yet and 2. their customer service hasn't caught up yet either. They're already drowning with orders that haven't been fulfilled and now they're adding to their load?!
DeleteI've had to call J. Crew customer service three times this week (once to have them apply the $50 off card I got in the mail that day that wouldn't work online). I was on hold for about 45 minutes for that call, and then they couldn't make the coupon work either and I had to go, so they placed my order without the coupon (which I could have done myself online an hour prior) and I had to make another call back to customer service the next morning to ask for the coupon to be applied to the order. Who knows if it really will be. I called again today for a price adjustment on two different orders and was only on hold for 15 minutes and the rep was very nice and got it done. My point being, they are slammed right now trying to keep up with promos and Thanksgiving week shopping. I don't see it getting any better between now and January. If you need to call, do it first thing in the morning, otherwise you'll probably be in a long queue.
Deletenew earings "door knockers" and "ear crawlers" and a brooch. hmm don't care for the new jewellery.
ReplyDeleteReposting from Monday's post: I did get an order last week - the velvet bodysuit, V-neck cami in bright cerise and the double crystal drop earrings and the bow tartan flats. I like the bodysuit a lot - I went with a medium, the body fits well (I'm a 6 on top) but the sleeves are a little loose - not sure if going down to a small would make sense. I love the cami - the bright cerise is a good holiday red, a teeny bit orange but not crazy and it looked great with my red bow plaid shoes and red lipstick. I paired with the tuxedo jacket and earrings on Friday. The earrings are also fantastic and not heavy - the earring itself is split so half of the earring is attached to the back which I think helps distribute the weight. The flats were a return - they definitely run small per reviews which I of course didn't pay attention to - I ordered my usual 9.5 and would have needed a 10. Not wowed by the quality and I have other holiday shoes so passing for now.
ReplyDeleteAlso a few sweater reviews - point sur alpaca blend sweater in grey - this was one of the "it's out of stock/it's not out of stock" emails I got from CS - went against my "no blend sweaters this year". I have a small, and it's a bit cropped not crazy though - it looks good with my 9" skinny jeans and I'm 5'8" and it's still got some room through the body. I've worn it a few times and it's holding up ok although it is pilling a little bit. For the price I paid, I'm ok with it. I also got the 3/4 sleeve everyday cashmere crewneck in camel and that was a return. I went with a medium and it just looked blah on me. Fit wasn't quite right and it wasn't a wow so I returned it.
I would love to post reviews if my orders would ever get shipped. A week now and finally got a your order is on schedule email. Uggh!
ReplyDeleteYup. I think Black Friday/cyber Monday was the same situation last year, but its kind of ridiculous, two weeks to get an order is a little crazy.
DeleteJust a heads up that the leopard tie blouse is included in the flash sale, it has been previously excluded. The skirt, however, is not included...sigh.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on fit of the Bermuda shorts in stretch linen? I’m a consistent size 12 in JCrew pants and would like to know if these are TTS, and also how wide the leg is.
ReplyDeleteI found them to be TTS but they stretch with wear. By the end of the day, they were baggy on me. The leg is not very wide - just wide enough to be comfortable through the widest part of my thigh (which is the widest part of me). TBH though if I had known about the stretching during the day, I wouldn't have bought them. I don't like starting the day looking prim but ending it looking like I've been through a dryer.
DeleteI bought them in my usual size, would say they run TTS to slightly large. Very polished shorts, fabric is midweight, more suitable for New England than for Florida for instance.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fleur de lys, a few people have commented on the weight of the fabric, and I definitely prefer heavier to lighter as I like more coverage.
DeleteI haven't tried them on, but there is one coworker of mine at J. Crew that was obsessed with them and I trust her judgement. She is in her early 50s and also likes more coverage.
DeleteI don't quite understand the timing of releases. Maybe I've missed it previously but I noticed a cotton mockneck cable knit sweater. A month or so ago this is what I was looking for and got something passable from the gap. Now it shows up? Now there are cotton roll neck sweaters?
ReplyDeleteI like the Jcrew one but really don't need another one.
I visited the store. Certain items were marked 40% off. Sale didn't indicate any additional, discount, again I'm scratching my head. Get people to buy in store when online orders are so backed up.
ReplyDeleteI tried the embellished fair isle since I'm still waiting for mine. Size small is what I usually prefer and the boxy torso width and slightly cropped length make it problematic, as it gaps a few inches above my butt, XS was just too short. The fabric didn't feel as nylon-y as I thought it would. Sadly I don't think this will make my holiday rotation, though I'll try it with a few other things if it ever ships, otherwise maybe I'll be able to grab it during post holiday sales.
That is just a bummer. Sorry Suz.
DeleteBut they will pay the shipping costs to send sale items languishing on the store shelves, with the extra percentage discount, to the customers who do NOT come into their store. But if you come into the store, no percentage off. I didn't word that correctly, but you catch my drift.
I wish the sale section had anything of interest. I would have asked to match online. And I really wanted to try the cropped bootcut jeans with the stars on the knees but they're not in store. (I find crop flares really difficult to wear, I've tried many times, so I'm reluctant to order them online, they're just so cute.)
DeleteAlso wanted to add I saw the new plaid and didn't like it at all. It's a blue based plaid but had pink and I just didn't like the colors or scale of the pattern.
Yes, and they would have matched it.
DeleteI have and love the gray demi crop boot with button fly. LOVE THEM. It was a totally different shape for me and the only pair I've ever liked (on me). I bought them in store. I like the star knee ones a lot also.
Posted a pic of the embellished fair isle on IG @wearthislikethis
DeleteIt's too bad because I really like it otherwise. I might be better off trying a larger size and doing a partial tuck
That sweater is horrible in real life.
DeleteI didn't think it was horrible, but the fit has issues. .
Deletejust got an email from JC which told me that there are new winter arrivals. licked and looked. Not funny, J.Crew.
ReplyDeleteI finally received my mockneck Fair Isle cashmere sweaters. I like the fit, the cashmere feels nice, but the quality control is seriously lacking. The navy sweater, the sold out color, arrived with numerous loose threads hanging and several obvious knitting errors in the design. *sigh* I can knit and I know how to repair knits, but seriously, WTF!? I should not have to do it. A $5 sweater from Goodwill, fine, but not a brand new $200 sweater. I haven't decided what to do yet, but I'll likely return it and see if I can pick up a return. Or maybe I'll just return both sweaters and be done with it. It's not like I'm desperate for more sweaters anyway.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the black Tippi sweater with the white lace collar? Does the lace look cheap or like it would get worn looking?
ReplyDeleteI saw the red one in store, but didn't examine it too closely other than seeing it's definitely the cerise more orangey red than the current lace pants which are a deeper red.. I love black and white but it's looks like a Ruth Bader Ginsberg costume to me.
DeleteHa on RBG. I think Dior did the white collar and cuffs on a fabulous black cocktail dress in the 50s. Not all interpretations of the look since then have achieved that iconic look. This one may be a pass.
DeleteYes, I normally really love the look but I think the style of lace and the collar, plus all the media coverage of RBG this year, made me think of that immediately. Might be fine on, however.
DeleteCarole Middleton is featured on the cover of Good Housekeeping UK in a pair of JCrew Pixie Pants with the leather trim. Looks great!!
