J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Anyone try the Pleated ruffle top in windowpane G0831?

I usually flip between size 2 & 4 in the button down shirts and was thinking of trying a size 2 since it's sleeveless. Opinions?

    1. I reviewed it on my insta. It was TTS for me. I think you could take the smaller of your sizes,as it was not a tight fit at all.HTH

  2. I need a 60% off final sale day. There are a couple things I want but want them CHEAP!

  3. A few purchases for myself and my 7yo:

Merino Sweater Jacket - an absolute love. I sized down to a small ( I'm ordinary 10/12 in blouses and a large in jackies). Knit is substantial and warm. Drapes well, looks great with work or jeans. Bought in black and have gray on order. Worth full price!

Striped metallic tippi - runs a bit large. Nice gray color and festive without being too blingy. Was a no-brainer on the 60% off sale price.

Mermaid tippi - print is beautiful. Fit tts as far as tippis go. I couldn't make the ruffle work for me and had to return. Still bummed because it was gorgeous otherwise.

    From crewcuts:
Mermaid print leggings - my daughter will barely take them off. Loves the print as much as I do, and they were if a good spring weight for leggings.

Pizza purse - beware this one. It's super cute. My daughter used all her saved up allowance/ birthday money on it. 6 hours after, the strap had completely frayed off on one side. Our store let us return and exchange without any issues. In closer inspection on the new one - the strap is a thin cord. The pizza itself is heavy glitter. The glitter is acting like sandpaper on the strap. I suspect others will have this issue. For now we put cellophane tape around the strap where it connects to the bag to protect it.

    1. Too bad about the purse. That is a shame. It is super cute, though!

I like the mermaid print, but I think it's one of those that I just need to enjoy from a distance. It doesn't work on my body. I can see it being awesome on leggings for a girl.

    2. I think the print would have been perfect for womens shorts or girls leggings!!!

    3. Yes, even a light cotton popover in that pattern would be so pretty and versatile! Sans the ruffle. Haha!

    4. @Ina, i just noticed that there are women's shorts in the Mermaid print! There seems to be a mini-rollout of sorts and going thru it, i just saw something called 'Easy shorts' -- basically shorts with a drawstring -- in the mermaid print. Very cute (tho they seem a bit short, maybe they're meant as board shorts for the beach.)

  4. After I returned my Cropped Lady Jacket (purchased at FP!) that had one sleeve shorter than the other, I was excited to wear the replacement to the office. I spent the morning squirming and uncomfortable and finally realized that the braided trim around the neck and front has tiny metallic threads that feel like razors!

I really wanted to make the jacket work, so I spent two hours hand-sewing seam binding to the inside of the collar and facings. It shouldn't be this hard to find a nice jacket.

    1. I hope that works for you! Are you finding it was to style at least?

  5. Tried the Martie pants on in windowpane and love them. Had to go up a size from my denim size to get a comfortable fit at the hip (my problem area). I could buy regular size and they would be full length pants on me, but will probably order the petite. I got a 15% off bounce back card, a $25 birthday card, and rewards coming, so I hope they don't sell out before then!

  6. The Rae clog from Madewell (#G1978) in dusty clay. I was hoping for a clay color, but it's more pink than clay. I still like it, but it was not the color I was expecting. I'm usually an 8/38 but the 7.5 fit me. They are sort of medium on comfort. Walking in them, they feel like a wooden clog (even though I think they have a rubber bottom?), and I'm more used to a Dansko so these have a different feel. The nubuck seems a bit delicate and I'd try to be careful with them. They arrived very carefully wrapped, with lots of protection and packaging (and they do look perfect). The nubuck upper is very soft and comfortable, just from try-on. I will probably keep them, but I have to try them on with some things to see if I'll like to wear pink clogs.

  7. I'm styling the Plaid Toggle Coat and Red Pom-Pom Sweater on the blog tonight. Both items are on sale. The Toggle Coat runs very large. I usually wear size 6 in coats and finally settled on the 2. It fits beautifully with a heavier sweater underneath. The Pom-Pom sweater runs TTS, and I took my usual size small.
