  1. Half love/half vent. I recently received Collection Ultra Wide Leg Pant in Glen Plaid Italian Cashmere. Fit is tts; glen paid is a gorgeous pattern and the cashmere is soft and high quality. While I personally love the feel of the cashmere next to my skin because it's so soft, I expected the pants to be lined for $750. Of course, I picked them up on super sale, but still. They're definitely a keeper, but this omission was a disappointment.

So happy to see free shipping back on swimswear. Big fan of Pati de St. Barth print. Ordered swim to wear with matching pareo. Already having visions of Mombasa. Hurry up August!

From New Arrivals I really like the Michael De Feo painted tulip and daisy vase tees. I've been really happy with J Crew collabs on tees and hope these work since I think they'll work well for work and weekends. May through them in the suitcase for my trip to India since it's gonna be warm enough.

    1. I tried the daisy vase tee on Tuesday in store. I'm regretting not picking it up - I really liked it and thought it looked cute with the chambray regent blazer. I have an older factory graphic tee with a daisy detail and it was always one of my favorite tees. I liked that it was lightweight and not see through as well. I think it would be perfect for your trip!

  2. Shout out to an online VPS who found the Lady Day Coat for me in a sold-out size and color. Wasn't ever sure it was going to pop back, so I was pleasantly surprised to receive the order notice, with the sale promotion applied, in my InBox. I haven't encountered that level of customer service with other retailers, and it makes JC stand out.

    1. Woot woot, that's awesome! I agree that JC has some very excellent customer service and I have often had very positive interactions whenever I need to contact them via phone (usually for a PA or item sizing info). I've only tried reaching out to a VPS once, but I was very surprised and pleased with how quickly she managed to find a long sold-out item for me at the time.

Enjoy your coat! (I bought one late last year and love it! Very well-made.)

    2. I have mixed feeling about VPS. A few I worked with were really good! But others give me the feeling of "mehhh." I have to watch pop back items for myself even though my VPS said she will keep an eye but never gets back to me.

I'm curious other JCAs' experiences with their VPS?

    3. I'm curious, is there a catch to using a VPS? Or a minimum spend, etc?

    4. @JenniferD, fabulous! Good for you. I have never had luck finding a sold out item. Any time I've ever contacted a VPS, they tell me that if it says sold out, it's sold out, and that they can only see the inventory I can see. They usually suggest some other item. I've always wondered about how they find hard to find items, if they can supposedly only find what I can online. I mud be doing it wrong.

    5. @comfyandchic, i admit that i have rather limited experience with VPS -- I contacted one randomly (via the Wishlist feature) and she's the one that found my sought-after dress. Then this past November, a seemingly friendly VPS reached out to me. We exchanged a few emails about likes and dislikes, color choices, etc. and then nothing, total radio silence. I contacted him about a Pre-Order item i wanted to try, but I actually thought maybe he quit because I didn't hear back for over a month. With the recent rollout, he suddenly rose from the dead with pictures of the Ornate Floral Ratti or whatever it's called. I emailed back that I think my emails are going to his Spam list since he missed my order. Nothing again! (so yea, I'm going to his Spam list.) Honestly, I rarely buy full-price and there is zero point in waiting to place an order with someone when i can do it quicker any number of ways. (Plus, ebates!) So yea, my personal VPS experience hasn't been the best, but I've seen recommendations for good ones from other JCAs on here.

    6. @TM93 I definitely agree with you: "I rarely buy full-price and there is zero point in waiting to place an order with someone when i can do it quicker any number of ways. (Plus, ebates!)" So I guess, like many JCAs, I'm just not the prototypical customer that a VPS would chase.

    7. @shopgrrl, meant to add that AFAIK , there isn't a minimum spend. My ghost VPS said that he could waive shipping on an online order, as long as there was at least one full price item included.

@comfyandchic, agreed!! Ah, well. It's so satisfying when we manage to catch a good popback! :-)

  3. I'm getting tons of wear out of my cashmere cardigans! I got each one I have on mega discount, so the cost per wear is quite low. Featherweight cashmere hasn't lasted for me, so I only buy the standard weight (or really just... not featherweight) things.

  6. Just wanted to add my experience with a VPS. I was assigned one online. Basically a few years ago I sent an email complaint to CS cc: Mickey about a bad store interaction. Then someone who was VP of my region emailed AND called me to apologize, and gave me an email address that I should go to for any issues. I occasionally would email that person - not a VPS - when I had other complaints such as sizing, poor quality, or weird pricing games. This person was able to get me refunds or price adjustments whenever I asked for one. Then he got transferred to international clients, so he assigned me a VPS. My first experience was asking her to find me a pair of sold out Drake Gemmas that I bought in the wrong size. She ended up finding it for me, but ordered the wrong color. Most recently I asked her to find me the Thomas Mason perfect shirt with velvet bows in my size, which was sold out. She totally came through, nabbed it between pricing games (I got it on super sale, before it went back to FP), and got my size correct (I told her I thought I was between sizes). She has never charged me shipping, and if anything she ships it overnight free of charge. I have yet to buy anything FP from her (honestly I can't remember the last time I bought FP from JC). The downside to ordering through her is that, like many of you, I like to use ebates to get cash back and I also can buy things quicker on my own, while I'm work anyway. When I place an order with her, I have to wait until the following day, in the afternoon, to get a confirmation, and she doesn't check emails on weekends, which is when I get checkout-button-happy at home. Usually when I'm buying a bunch of things that are all smallish (<$30 price) and may be in danger of being sold out, I buy on my own. When I'm buying something pricier and I'm iffy about my size, I go through her and let her guess what my size would be (she has my measurements). THat way, she ships it overnight and puts a note in my file that it's returnable even if it's FS. I have no problems losing my cashback but giving her the commission in those (few) instances. Being my VPS is rough!
