Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. OT - wow, JCrew started loading images of their May '15 style guide on Pinterest. It used to load Friday AM..but it looks like it'll finish loading the entire catalog sooner?!

    3. I got a May catalog at the store the other day. I don't have any way to scan but there are some things that look a little better. There are lots of cute sandals and shorts. There is a pair of fringe sandals that are extremely cute for only $118.00.

    4. Yes, Doodle Daschund, the fringe sandals look cute. I wonder if its offered in other colors.

  2. I am returning the perforated drapey crepe dress in black size 6 to the Montgomery mall, Maryland store this morning. I love it but I need a different size which unfortunately is all sold out.

    1. Yes, what would you like to know about?

    2. Thanks Cate! Tell us about the prints!

I'm dying for some pretty spring colors and will probably be emptying my Target of its entire contents of Lilliy on Sunday!

    3. Somewhere on here Ina wrote a great summary of the rollout, but I can't remember where.

One of the prints is called Gold Foil Leaf. It's a white or ivory background with black floral, gold stems. It's a medium sized print, not too loud and not too subtle. I like it a lot. There is a zip-front dress ($148) done in this print (sleeveless, with a gold zipper in front down to the waist). Fit and flare style. The zipper sounds bad but it looks cute on the model. I think it's one you'd have to try on. There is also the Gold Foil Leaf Tank ($98), which is a sleeveless tank, curved side vents, with what looks like black trim at the neck, armholes and hem. They're calling this color "weathered charcoal", in both the dress and the tank. Same print on both. And there is also a Linen Gold Foil Leaf pant ($98), which I can't tell much about from the photo. It's the same print, tapers toward the ankle, a bit cropped but not wide. Probably has pockets. And there is a Gold Foil Leaf Pencil skirt ($98). It may have a very wide dropped waist, looks flattering. Cotton. The tank is cotton, the dress and pants fabrics are not specified.

    4. Next print is the "abstract giraffe". It is shown first on a cutout one-piece swimsuit ($135). It's got so many colors, white, green, light brown, blues/purples. It looks nothing like a giraffe to me. It's also shown in a sleeveless, high-necked rashguard ($148!) and a bikini bottom ($50). That's all I see in this one. The print is bold and interesting and colorful.

    5. There is very little in this next print they call "Fan Block". All I see is the "Tassel Beach skirt in Fan Block print" ($59.50). It's a pre-knotted sarong, looks sheer, navy background with purple/fuschia and white print on it. It is coton gauze.

      Delete
    6. Next up is the "Tropical Fern" print. It is a jade green and white and probably just what you'd picture from "tropical fern". It's a big swooshy print, looks nice. Shown in an underwire top and side-tie bikini bottom, and a sleeveless tunic. They're calling this color "tropical forest".

      Delete
    7. Next is "Tropical Frond" print, which they call navy. It looks black to me, so it must be pretty dark. The background is navy, with big white leaves with some yellow in them. It's a busy big-ish print. Shown on Linen/Tencel lyocell shorts ($69.50), a shift dress ($98) in same fabric, linen pants ($98) in same fabric (they look tapered with slant pockets), and Carrie Cami ($98).

      Delete
    8. Last one is "Jungle". They don't show much in this, just a Collection tipped top with slit v-neck in silk ($228) and Collection pull-on silk pants ($198). The pants have a dropped waist and side pockets, look tapered. They're calling the color "Tropical yellow". It's an abstract print that's a mix of yellow, teal blue, light green, and black (?). It's really different, I like it.

    9. Meant to add, the Jungle collection top is sleeveless.

    14. Wow, Cate, thanks for taking the time to write all of these descriptions. I can hardly wait to get my Style Guide. Although, it will be a couple of weeks before it makes it to my mailbox. I don't know why it always takes so long!

    1. pinterest started loading on WED. I think JCrew must have heard all our complaints about some people having the style guide while most of us waited for the end of the weekend for womens styles on pinterest. maybe we are been heard after all....

  5. I am not going as new arrivals will be out on Monday but I am definitely going to visit Madewell today. I stopped by yesterday night but I was in a hurry and I only tried one thing (the overall dress, which is awesome and fit like a glove). Will post pics on Insta.

    1. the overall dress does look cute! Might be nice with a tshirt or thin turtleneck under it in the Fall, too.

  6. OT - has anybody else seen the Madewell Fall 2015 Pinterest board? Some cute things... and some tragic things, like those jeans in Look 1. Ouch!

No visit to JC for me.

  7. Was in J Crew last night, tragic that there is nothing I want from that store. I did go into Madewell, sale was additional 20% off. No signage on the new promo, which surprised me. I did try on 2 dresses, Vista Shirtdress, on sale and I now know why. I loved the fabric and had high hopes but it was a disaster on. Very puffy and oversized on top, especially in the back, shoulders through back. Next was the Chambray Tunic Dress, again a total disaster. I tried on an XS and it was huge, again very oversized on top, plus it was even wider through the waist and hips and to the hem, trapezoid shape I guess. This was on my wish list but not any longer.

    1. I was looking at the Chambray Tunic Dress online, and wondered what it was like in real life. I thought it had the potential of looking sack-like and I guess it does! Thanks for your review!

  8. Dropping a couple Factory reviews in here since the reviews thread went to page 2. Hope this helps anybody shopping the 50% this weekend.

Factory lace-front tank (c5889) - This was HUGE in my usual S. Armholes were so low as to expose bra band. I would definitely size down (and maybe even try 2 sizes down if I were in the store and could try both). The coastal pink was more vibrant IRL, a little more coral than the softer ballet pink in the picture. The back is incredibly sheer. That being said, I think in the right size and under a cardigan or jacket it would look really pretty.

Factory french terry pencil skirt with curved hem (c4115) - I didn't think of this as a pencil skirt so much as a tube-mini-from-the-90s-skirt. Not the right shape or length for me. Fabric was okay, but the curved hem was "flipped" up upon delivery and I could not get it to lay straight. Pass.

  10. Moving over my closet from winter to spring/summer is an annual task. Each year there is some carnage and many don't make the cut. Not quite GoT but there were some surprising twists on who made it and who failed.

After the dust settled four pairs of pants are off to the tailor to be slimmed and I needed to order a new pair as a replacement. Hello Bowery slims #21606 in melted caramel for a mere $34.99 down from $79. And for the top a textured polo for only $17 in a cream color.

  11. The perfect shirt in crinkle blue plaid is just beautiful! TTS and not 'crinkly' at all. More like a super soft, fine linen weave.

  12. Disappointed with fabric - yet again. Went to buy cotton/linen stripe boy shirt. Found fabric now includes 31% Ramie not cotton linen mix. I find ramie to be a scratchy, highly chemically processed fibre. Another cheap substitution.? Just can't seem to spend the gifts cards I've had since January. Jcrew is getting into old navy territory with some of its fabrics. Cotton/polyester ruffle tank. Please get creative, work with the fabric mills, there are lots of good more natural fibers to blend. Beginning to feel insulted that jc design seems to believe customers can be fobbed off with cheap synthetic fabrics. Witness all the languishing polyester pants and shorts.

  14. Hmmm, I thought new arrivals were in stores on Mondays. It's a good thing I checked with the JCrew closest to me before I made the trek. The SA told me they have the boxes, but the items wouldn't be out on the floor until the end of the week! I was really excited about going tomorrow, too, 'cause it's been a while :(

  16. OT - J.Crew loaded photos of LOOKS WE LOVE for the month of May. A few things I like: Saint James Tee in ecru gitane cafe, the White Denim Culotte, the Mixed Eyelet dress in white.

I can't believe they made those green khaki 'paint splattered' pant, again! They made that last spring season and it didn't sell. Oh J.Crew...

  17. OT - just wondering if anyone else pre-ordered the Birkenstock Gizeh Exquisite sandals (pearl), only to get the dreaded "your waitlist order has been cancelled" email? Just curious, because I ordered them the first day they were on-line (at the time backordered till April 9), so I'm a bit unsure why they "would not have enough available". And has anyone seen them in store (either white or black)? TIA!

    2. I considered this, but there are reviews on the product page! Called CS, and the person was sweet, but had no answers for me whatsoever. Also said he wasn't seeing any in stock in stores. *sad trombone*

      Delete
    3. Hi. Just thought I would add that those Birkenstocks are available at many other retailers: Nordstrom, Amazon, Onlineshoes. If you sign up at Onlineshoes, they are always sending out discount coupons via email.

    4. Hi SE Mom - thanks so much for the tip! Unfortunately, the J. Crew Gizeh Birks are the "Exquisite" version - meaning the cork footbed is lined in leather, and they're all one colour - I've found them in limited sizes in black at a few other places, but not in white. If stock doesn't come back in, then maybe I'll get the cork footbed with the white sole, and I'll definitely check out the places you suggested - thanks!

    5. R, have you considered the Birkenstock Monterey at Nordstrom?

      Delete
    6. cmg, they were on my wishlist last year, but they were sold out, so I ended getting up two pairs of traditional Arizonas from James Perse (they have a grey/black colourblock which I love). So, the Montereys might be too much of a repeat for me, but I think they're awesome! Have you tried them?

      Delete
    7. Just an update on my Birks Gizeh sandal drama...they're back in stock in pearl white...so I was able to re-order them, and CS honoured the original promo price I paid. All's well that ends well!

  18. I got an email (from my store?) that there will be an in store event on Wednesday the 21st from 6-8 PM. This event is for the new arrivals and refreshments will be served.

I'm interested in seeing the new rollout, as the last few ones were underwhelming in my opinion.
