Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

    2. 50% is part of the Friday event. Jewelry and
t shirts will be 30% I was told by a little birdie. The 30% is from 1-9 but I would imagine the 50% off would start when they open.

    3. T-shirts, too? Oh boy. Good thing I have some gift cards. Thanks, Doodle Daschund!

  4. If anyone sees in the Cleo stripe loafer in navy and white in their stores, please let me know. I spent 2 hours on the phone yesterday trying to locate a pair in stores.

Also, I can't believe the collection scalloped eyelet maxi dress sold out in less than 24 hours!

    1. MS -

I'm not too surprised about the dress selling out. Its attractive and rather unique. And the length is such that the wearer won't have to keep hiking it up to walk, like many of the other maxi's out there.

Having said that, I bet the dress will pap back like many Collection sell-outs do.

    2. I like this dress too and expect it to pop back here and there in a few sizes. It's also surprising it was only offered in one color.

    3. Hi MS, It looks like there are plenty in stock online. Have you tried chatting with CS to get the in-store discount online? They honored 50% off the online price for me yesterday on the cleo stripe loafers in reef blue. HTH!

    4. MS, Park Meadows, CO store had the Cleo stripe loafer, in multiple sizes on Thurs. I know they had a size 6 since I tried it on. On sale and they were doing 50% off. Good luck

  6. Yesterday I saw a pretty woman wearing the cove floral neoprene dress. Even though she styled it well with a chunky blue necklace, it was a hot mess. The dress was bunched up around her thighs and her bra straps were hanging out. (Yes Silver Lining, you're right to ask about racer back bras).

I felt so bad for her. That dress needed more vetting before being put out to market.

  7. I might stop in today to see what the Friday event has to offer. Wondering if any more new things have come in. I'm happy I snagged a skirt I've been stalking on pop up this morning and also order the floral medallion scarf.

  8. Hey guys.....I just checked my UPS delivery notice for a package I was expecting today and it states that it has been transferred to the local post office for delivery. That is new for me. I've never had a J. Crew package delivered by the Post Office. Is this a new policy? Can anyone comment???

    ReplyDelete

    1. yeah... I've had that before... sometimes adds an extra day on to the estimated delivery date... annoying.

not sure how it all gets determined tho.

      Delete
    2. This happens to about half my orders now. It *is* annoying, especially since I live an hour away from Lynchburg!

      Delete
    3. It comes SurePost when you select the $5.00 shipping option I think. It will take either one or two extra days for your mail carrier to get it out to you. I get this all the time. It is a pain!

      Delete
    4. I've had this happen all the time this year. It's expected now with the $5 shipping. Yes, it's an extra day of waiting, but I think J. Crew technically has 6-8 business days to deliver your package and still be in the time frame. Yes, it's annoying because for $5, you should've received your package within 3 days!

      Delete
    5. I always get UPS with J.Crew, but I got Surepost delivery a lot with Gap, and there were some issues. The post-person managed to misplace one of my packages, and it took a couple of phone calls on my end to the USPS distribution center to find it. Another package, despite its status as "Delivered" never was, or at least not to me. Calls to the USPS distribution center did not locate it, but Gap was cool and issued me a giftcard for the value of the merchandise that someone else probably enjoyed receiving as a nice surprise. SurePost makes me nervous . . . which is why I love UPS's reliability.

      Delete
    6. thanks for the info everybody! It's weird. The order was over $150.00....so no $5.00 shipping was involved. Oh well. I live in Oregon and it takes forever to get my orders so another day doesn't make much difference. I just trust Mr. Brown Shorts more than Mr. Postal.

      Delete
    7. Last evening I received a Madewell package for someone else in my mailbox. It's happened a couple of times with package from Amazon as well. USPS makes a lot more delivery mistakes than UPS.

      Delete
    8. Jennifer, I had a similar experience with UPS Surepost for a J.Crew Factory order. It showed as delivered and it took several phone calls to my post office before they located the package, which obviously had not been delivered. Ugh. It is not UPS's fault though when that happens. Once they hand it off to the post office it is all USPS. And to the OP's question, J.Crew uses Surepost frequently for its "economy" shipping option, so the free shipping for $150+ orders automatically is an economy shipping option.

    1. OK. Here we go.......Went to my local store at lunch and I don't think all the t shirts were on promo, however the shorts were. The jewelry was on promo but not 30% as told, it was either 20% or 25% off but they did just get some new stuff. Please call your store to confirm as I do not want anyone to waste or make a trip based on my information if there is something special you want. Sorry to be so confusing.

  22. SCORE! I stopped in my local store at noon. Party wasn't happening until 1, but I was happy I stopped in early. I snagged a "random return" (according to the SA) from yesterday. The Moonglow Paisley silk tee!!! And...hold on to your hats....because it was returned it was marked down to $29.99 (that's a great price) but I got it for $15.00!!! Dang! That made my day! And I ordered the carved droplet earrings over the red phone. When I was placing my order the customer service rep asked me if I had seen the new catalog. I said yes and she asked what I thought of it. I said "you have to be more specific". So she asked me some questions. I said it was thin (duh), and she asked what I thought of the styling. Humm...I said it just looked like J. Crew. Same ol' same ol'. Then I told her I have the same cripes every role out. I'm tall and old (well, I'm a grown up woman) and I don't wear hot pants (that should clue you in on how old I am....I call those tiny shorts "hot pants), mini skirts or mini dresses....but I said "that's my problem". But I am a mature shopper and I like the Crew and would like the pretty prints to be made into garments that aren't so youth oriented. She said it was nice to hear my opinions. Anybody else getting questioned when talking to Customer Service? I'd be interested to hear your experience.

  26. I stopped in yesterday around 1pm, my store was just putting out mini cupcakes and Pellegrino. It was quiet but it was also a sunny Friday afternoon!

I only tried on a few of the new arrivals - the striped jeweled sweatshirt (very cute, but more stripes and more jewels...I know, I know...) and the chiffon sleeve tee which seems to run a bit small, I tried the larger of my two tee sizes and it was still a smidge smaller than I would have liked.

I did pretty well sale wise - drank the Crewlade on the gemstone floral top ($45) I really hope I end up wearing this... long merino cardigan in vibrant flame ($17.49), Masterpiece tee ($20) and a necklace that I'm not sure of the name of, my receipt says "Metal and Lucite Necklace" ($50)

They were wiped out of shoes in my size but a lot of Emma flats for $70 before the 50% off and the silver perforated Cleo loafers were $50 before the discount. The sale section was pretty packed but after being there last week, there's a lot that doesn't seem to be moving. A lot of the lightweight sweaters are looking shopworn.

    2. Ina, when I didn't receive a package (from Kate Spade), it took about a day for UPS to complete their "investigation" to tell me that they delivered it as promised...it was just nowhere to be found at my house. I received a phone call from UPS and they instructed me to contact the vendor at that point. I'm sure each retailer is different...I had to wait two weeks to receive a refund from Kate Spade but perhaps J.Crew may be different from a timing perspective. Good luck - that's so frustrating :(

      Delete
    3. Hi Ina, Is it possible that the package was delivered to one of your neighbor's? That has happened to me a couple of times.

      Delete
    4. Hi, Ina! E-mail me at clotted.creame@gmail.com re: VPS recommendations.

      Delete
    5. Ina - I've had that happen before. JC said I had to wait 10 business days for the package to arrive before they could do anything, including contacting UPS to do an investigation. One time I contacted UPs directly and the guy lied to me and said they had closed the investigation and I would have to contact the shipper (J Crew). This was before the 10 days was up. If it hasn't been 10 business days JC usually wants you to wait. I was on vacation and couldn't be home to receive the package and they still made me wait. The VPS did give me his extension to call once the 10 days, from the ship date, were up. The package arrived by then. Some were final sale but he waived that so I could return them if I wanted since I waited so long. HTH!

  36. I popped into the North Ave store in Chicago after an appointment nearby. The store was not very crowded, although probably more attributable to the absolutely gorgeous weather today in Chicago today than anything else. The same old items were languishing in the sales section. I only had about 15 minutes so I did a quick run through of the sales section (where everything was 50% off) and decided to try the Cotton Pique Dress Item A2688 in white and the pencil skirt in the color block stripe. I am not sure what possessed me to try on the cotton pique dress because I typically look horrible in dropped waist dresses, but my goodness, I LOVED this dress on me. It was $89 plus 50% off so about $45 net. Wowee. I am so glad I decided to give this dress a try. The fabric is sturdy and the dress feels high quality and so flattering on. I did go with the larger of my two dress sizes, but if you have a small chest or upper half you probably should to stick with your normal dress size. The dress is 100% cotton but the lining is polyester which I know bothers some, but it doesn't really bother me too much. I also purchased the colorblock pencil skirt ($90 plus 50% of) which I sized up in, which is very unusual for me in pencil skirts since I have proportionally narrow hips and sometimes even size down in pencil skirts. The lining was pulling in my normal size so I went up a size and the skirt is a smidge loose but the lining didn't pull. Also, I purchased the black downtown field jacket online for $89 after the HiSummer discount. They seem to have a full size run on all three colors of the downtown filed jacket online. I know many of us are not thinking jackets right now, but it's a classic that often does not go on sale-I love the downtown field jacket (I have it in both the navy and moss colors) and have been wanting the black but haven't seen it in the stores the past few seasons so was surprised to see it online and on sale plus 30% off with the current promo.

  38. I finally picked up the navy schoolboy blazer on sale for $99 so it ended up being $50 after the additional 50% off sale was applied. My store also had black leather Emma flats on sale and if they had my size, I probably would have grabbed them since they were $69 and then an additional 50% off. The fluted skirt in double crepe was also tempting, but I was trying to be good and passed on it.

  39. I stopped by the Annapolis store on Friday before noon, and the sales associate almost had a fit when I asked about the 50% on my purchase. She did give it to me on the maxi dress only because I asked about price matching (which she initially told me that they did not match in-store...AND "who told me that?") but she did not give it to me on the jeans. REALLY?? I presume the 50% off started with the 1:00 Fri event but I was only 2 hours early and she was already giving me 50% on the dress...I couldn't understand what the big deal was. But I was cool with it since the jeans were way less than the online price even before the 40% off (the existing promo).

  40. Then I stopped by the Georgetown store today and was pleasantly surprised by the number of larger sizes that I found. Many, many 12s! No sz 14 blazers (I am looking for the puff sleeve in case anyone is listening) but I had a decent collection of size 12 and sz 32 items to try on. The store was packed and I think the luster- light died for me so I left the store empty-handed but they had a good sale selection especially for a 50% off weekend. Quite a few teddie bags and downing totes, linen skirts, wall full of tees, denim shirts, scarves, jewelry (meh!), dresses. Hopefully the sale will continue thru tomorrow. There is one more store I want to check out and I am hoping that my shopping-mojo is back. Happy hunting!

  42. Was in NYC for the weekend and 8yo daughter pointed out the JC store at Rockefeller Center (while 10 and 11yo boys groaned!). Hubs was gracious enough to take boys to NBC store, giving us a 15 minute limit. Unfortunate that there was no crewcuts, but as daughter is TALL (4'10" and 7.5 shoe already!) she can fit into the XXS. Got matellasse shorts (TTS), embroidered fish shorts, a skort-ish eyelet -ish thing, chocolate gold metallic suede slingback pumps ($40 after all promos!), emma bow ballet flats for daughter ($45 after promo)(all on sale + 50%), a couple of tees with the tee promo -- the linen fruit salad tank for daughter and for me (love that she will still match with me!) and linen tank in navy stripe), and the cute little pom pom white socks with a sock promo. Kids' first trip to NY, fun but hectic. OT but totally bizarre, by the end of my first night I was wheezing and swollen eyed and up most of the night. For the rest of the trip, I was taking the 12-hr Zyrtec D tablets every 8 hours. I have just about every environmental allergy around, but they've been under control in the DC area, where I live. Anyone else have this problem in NYC? A quick google search turned up COCKROACHES as a prominent allergen in the city.... (ick!!)
