Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Lots of price reductions including the kiwi button down I got last night. 😬

@lynn, did your friend ever get
Classic-fit collarless puff sleeve shirt in budding floral
    Item BB236
I’m curious as to the colors in real life, if it’s more red or pink. So hard to tell online.

Classic-fit silk shirt in mixed dots
    Item BB216
Got a huge price reduction. I tried it on in store last week, it was not showing up online. The print is cute and I think it could add an element of fun to a pair of classic black pants. Silk is super thin though and it runs BIG. the four was a little loose on me but I don’t know if I’d size down because I’d be afraid of the fabric pulling and ripping,

    1. Note I tried on the silk top Bb216 and just didn’t love the fit. The 2 was better than the 4 but meh.

    2. @Suz, yes she did receive it. The background is a muted pink beige and the blossoms are a dark berry dark fuschia and a burgundy color. She said she expects the sleeves will flatten somewhat. She likes it. Saw the price drop too. $16.00 less than what I paid for it.

    3. Suz, is that the pale pink you’re referring to? The classic fit silk shirt? BB216

    4. @lynn Yes. The mixed dots have smiley
Faces and yin/yang symbols mixed in. It’s really adorable but thin silk. It’s a great price for a somewhat unique piece.

    5. @Suz, Thank you appreciated the details. Hope you enjoy all of your items!

    6. Hi Lynn,
Thank you for all of your comments on the blog recently!
I was wondering if you could give me Cheryl’s phone extension or email?

      Delete
    7. itslizzia, Cheryl is not a personal stylist but her extension is 58132. She was fabulous for making price adjustments. For a stylist Dana@53453. She’s excellent and will accommodate. Company has gotten very strict with PA’a but play nice and they should help.

  2. I visited the Richmond, VA (Short Pump) store yesterday, and the staff there is just wonderful: Jen (the manager), Jen, (asst. manager), Naomi, and Courtney. Those are the ones I see most often.

Anyway, in case anyone is interested....They had a good range of sizes in the Classic Field Coat in Pale Cypress (AW104). It's a nice jacket, but I would prefer it to be lined. I tried it on, and it was not over-sized. The XS actually fit me just fine (5'3", 100 lbs., 34B, skinny arms). It was $159.99 ($179.99 online), and they were doing the extra 20% off if you use a J.Crew credit card.

The store was active with customers for a Thursday afternoon. Jen, the manager, said that people are doing their Christmas shopping early because they are afraid there won't be enough stuff available in case it stays out on those boats.

Dealing with this staff is such a pleasure.

    1. you are so lucky. in Canada we have no stores left.

      Delete
    2. @Unknown: I'm not that lucky. This store is two hours from where I live. I go to that area for other reasons, and I try to stop in when I'm there. There was one that was just an hour away, but that has been closed for a few years.

    3. I used to have three stores within a 20 minute drive and I regularly visited them all! One by one, they all closed. My nearest store is an hour away now and it’s so rare that I am in a store. Mme, it lovely to hear about a great visit with great SAs.

    4. sorry. didn't know far it was for you to travel to a store. I bet it was a nice treat to be in one. esp a good one with good staff

    5. It is nice to visit a store with such a great staff. They keep the store 100% pristine. It has never looked one bit messy, including the sale area. The associates have all been there for years, and they know how to take care of customers.

This store has Crew Cuts and men's clothing as well, but they don't get many of the items that I order. Two of the SA's are about my size, so when I have made returns, they have fun trying things on. They tend to get more of the basics.

If there has been anything that I've been considering ordering on the day I'm going (rather than placing it online), I'll have the store do it so that they get credit for the sale. They always appreciate that.

    6. I’m glad you had such a pleasant store visit, @mme Jacqueline. My nearest store is also a long drive away but I prefer the stores near my mom’s place in Los Angeles. I visit once a month and like you always call and place an order for pick up in advance. They love the business and I get excellent service when I arrive.

  3. Cashmere zip up hoodie in rosy dune is on sale for under $70 after promos! (Rosy dune is pictured in ina’s recent IG post — a lovely pink/nude.) I love these hoodies and they have been a closet staple for me for years.

  4. Made a very helpful store visit. Tried on a few things and was pleasantly surprised.

First off, the cotton cashmere joggers. AU519. They only had the caramel color which is on sale. Small was the smallest size. The waist is loose but tightening the drawstring makes them perfect with my long torso. I didn’t try a size down because I LOVE the fit like this. However, I wasn’t crazy about the caramel color for myself. I tried the matching weathered rose sweatshirt Ay829. In size small and loved it. Shocked at how flattering the color was against my face. Unfortunately the joggers in that color are out of stock so I didn’t get the sweatshirt but I will keep checking. I ordered the joggers in black because I have yet to see them lower than 40 percent off. Note: most reviews prob say to size down. As a matter of fact a young woman working saw me with them and told me how much she loved them and I told her I tried them and loved them and she repeated that I needed to size down. I had to explain that I actually loved the size small (it’s actually a size up for me). Someone who is five feet tall might need to size down but I found them very flattering in the size I chose.

The magic rinse joggers and sweatshirt. The olive online looks terrible but in person much more flattering. Unfortunately they didn’t have the joggers in that color in store but I tried the burnished barn and actually liked the Xs Fit but did not like this color against my skin. I will keep checking for the joggers and sweatshirt in the olive.

BA246 Receive the tie waist straight leg pant in wool flannel, tall. I opted to get the tall because the length of the regular is too short to be full length on me and not short enough to be cropped. The 0 tall is a little long but fine. I wouldn’t size down personally. The waist is loose but I can tighten with the drawstring, if I sized down it would be fitted on the butt and the waist would create a bubble. I wouldn’t mind these cropped but not 28.5” for me.

Also received Rollneck pullover Ay630 in ivory and really like it. It’s a dense cotton and nice fit. I’ve been stalking the olive.

Oh, I tried the cupro joggers in a size 2 and actually liked them. They’re not a need but I didn’t think the fit was as horrible as I imagined. The fabric had a nice texture.

  6. Has anyone tried the end-on-end cotton long-sleeve pajama set (BA014)? How do they compare to the vintage cotton pajamas from a few years ago? I love my vintage cotton pajamas but they’re starting to wear out and will soon need to be replaced. Unfortunately it looks like that style has been discontinued.

  7. I ordered a rain coat Item: AW105
    Size: XX-SMALL
    Color: CLASSIC PINE ANCHOR

Came to 31.60 with CardLove (used DH's card) and $5 rewards

We will see if it ships!

    1. @FlowerPower, I have a feeling it will. They’ve been shipping quite fast. I ordered some items and they shipped the same evening or following day. Delivery has been super fast to my friend in S.Fl. Two days not expedited.

  8. Woke up at 5am and was able to grab the magic rinse joggers size small and crewneck sweatshirt in Medium in the olive color. Then once coffee kicked in realized I should get for my girls too because who doesn’t love new sweats for the holidays.

Whether it’s my internet connection or website issues it took hours but I managed to order for them in what should be oversized fits—I think they will be ok with it. Also grabbed the cotton robes, socks and one set of the magic rinse wide leg sweats and sweatshirt in the light mint. I have no idea how this color looks in real life. In some pics it’s washed out and almost pale gray and in others it looks like a light sage. Hope my order went through.

  9. Spent an hour browsing the sale section this morning only to find my cart emptied as soon as I signed in to checkout. Idiot techs still at work at JC I see. Their loss; I couldn’t remember everything I had in my cart so I only bought the two I could remember, which was a robe and a PJ set. I don’t understand why the codes no longer reflect final price after all codes applied - isn’t it an incentive to show people the much lower price after codes?

  10. Do any JCAs have thoughts about the Zoe flats? There is only one picture and a handful of reviews soI can’t seem to make up my mind

    1. Reviews seem mostly positive but I remember Lynn saying they were worse than the Evie flats. I don’t remember if it was a personal opinion or info from someone else.

I had a pair of gold evie flats from a few years ago and could not wear them. The toe shape seemed more round than the Zoe though and it just didn’t fit my foot.

    2. @AnthroBlogger, yes, I tried them and they are awful. Flimsy, sizing is crazy. Wide in the heel, length may be too short or too long. Fabric is so thin that my large toe was showing up by the toe box. My humble opinion, stay away! I also remember you are a Cece lover as I am. No comparison.

  11. No plans to visit this weekend, but I received my orders. I've started Christmas shopping given the news about delays/shortages. I also placed a couple of orders this morning.

    1. Merino wool black/white cardigan. This is a good option for fall. Merino is lightweight and fit is tts. Winters are mostly mild in Texas, so the cardigan will get lots of wear. Planning to pair with Co wool/cashmere pants in black that I picked up during end of season sales. I'm still looking for a pair of ivory wool pants. Tried Massimo Dutti, but didn't love the style/cut.

    2. Puff-sleeve shirtdress in Liberty® Elysian Day floral. Fit is tts and agree the color is more muted in person. It's still a very pretty print and I like the pockets. It will be an easy travel dress next spring/summer.

    3. Garment-dyed slub cotton hoodie. Picked up multiples of this for gifts. I have college-age cousins that really like this style. Fabric is soft and I like the colors (picked up light blue, smoked red and autumn gold).

Morning orders: Budding floral pjs, tie waist pull on skirt in dusty ivory (hoping skirt will work as casual gear for game days) and merino wool dress in begonia (pink). This was on my buy list, so when my size popped back I purchased.

  12. Hi everyone. I hope you’re having a good weekend! A couple of winners for me recently. The sleeveless cashmere turtleneck is divine. Because I’m so tall I often look for longer length sweaters like this. I ordered both navy and muslin. The muslin was missing from my box so CS credited back my account but I’ll be ordering it again (annoying) because the navy is just lovely. Cashmere reminds me of yesteryear (just dropped off my favorite vintage crew cashmere boyfriend sweaters from 2012 I think at the dry cleaners).

Also in the cashmere realm is the oversized cashmere t shirt. The cashmere is just lovely! I love the sand color (a really pretty neutral blush) that I ordered the gray too. My normal size works well for length and I like the drapey fit too.

That’s all for cashmere. Happy I took a chance on these items. I ordered the new crew neck cashmere sweater and thought it was scratchy (ok with a cami). But these items are far, far superior in my opinion.

The cotton cashmere turtleneck sweater is really nice too. I ordered the gray but I’d prefer a different color so I’ll exchange. Just a really nice classic.

Perfect fit turtleneck in cream and black stripe is a good staple.

The collection tuxedo silk shirt in ivory is a winner! The silk may not be as thick as some may like but I like the top for layering. Under a blazer or a black lace top (a look I wore a lot last winter) is how I plan to wear it. I love it so much that I ordered the black too.

In non-Jcrew purchases, the double breasted blazer at Banana Republic is one of my favorite purchases in a long, long time. Classic, well made, and so, so chic. I’ve worn a couple of times already and will wear a million ways all year long.

  13. hi . how did you find the fit of the cashmere sleeveless turtleneck tunic? tts? Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think the fit is tts. It’s not as drapey or oversized as it shows on the model. The reviews say the same so I would say if you want something loose and wear like a dress, size up. But if you’re looking for a nice tunic sweater, your normal size will be slightly drapey but flattering.

  14. Normally I just scan for certain things I like, but today I scrolled through the sale section and it seemed like there was a lot of new additions that I actually liked. I placed a pretty big order, the first time in a long time:
    * leather montauk tote in rose petal. This bag was close to $300 regular price and I bought it earlier at 40% off, but I didn't like it enough for $180, I guess because I didn't love the shade (altho pink is my fav color), it doesn't close, and it's totally unstructured. But for under $60, I'll take it.
    * Ratti midi dress in seashell is under $70. Ratti prints are always stunning, IMO, although I don't always like them for me. This one I like. I actually ordered this a week or so ago and it was just cancelled. Which worked out fine b/c I got it for less this time around. Let's see if it ships.
    * Gwen lug sole leather lace up boots in that lovely ivory are $62! That seems crazy. I had to get these.
    * Pacific sherpa lined clogs are just under $50. I got similar ones from MW a couple of weeks ago and I love them much more than I thought I would -- I thought they would look too clunky and be too heavy. But I love them, so I tried a couple of these as well. If nothing else, good indoor slippers.
    * Embroidered cashmere sweaters were both under $50. I think both are pretty cute, and I do like the cut of the new looser crewneck.
    * Magic rinse stuff: after reading Suz's comments I took a second look at these. Somehow I mentally associated Magic Rinse with SuperSoft so I totally ignored all of this. But looking more closely, I realize it's just the name that turned me off; they are 100% cotton, normal sweats. I do love sweats so I bought a few joggers and hoodies.
    * lastly, I got some men's slub cotton hoodies. I got these for my son a couple years ago and realized they are pretty non-gendered so I tried it for myself. They are just really nice thick tshirt jersey material, super comfy and not at all bulky in the way that some hoodies can be.

    1. Audrey, Sounds like some fun scores. Glad you tried the magic rinse. The all cotton/Terry had a much nicer feel than I expected. Unlike the vintage cotton which must be a looser weave, it feels a bit more structured and less likely to sag.

  15. I wanted to give more feedback on Tie-waist straight-leg pant in wool flannel
    Item BA246
The cut of these works really well with a blazer for me, and in the longer (tall) length gives a sort of late 1980’s David Byrne suit look. (Maybe it was just me and some friends in HS but we loved that look.) I also think the pants would work well cropped and if they get reduced further I wouldn’t hesitate to get a second pair and have them hemmed to about 26” inseam/ankle length.
What I cannot understand is the white shoelace drawstring. It’s not absolutely necessary since the waist is elastic but I like to tighten the waist so I will keep it. I might switch it out for a black cord.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Suz, I ordered these in the navy for my friend and myself. Sized down. Ordered 2 more for us. She said they’re great and we had sized down. Don’t like the shoelace drawstring what was Jcrew thinking of but will have them removed. Thanks for your great recommendation. You love them, she loves them and so will I. Great pants, great deal! Thanks again❤️

  17. @Suz, in black of course too. Blazer will work fine as well as a sweater. Thanks again!

    1. You’re welcome. They are an easy pant to just throw and and still feel put together. I remember a friend once talking about funeral clothes. It’s like what can you put on when you don’t really want to get dressed but have to. I think these pants fit the bill.
For me considering I don’t go to an office nor do I intend to go to a funeral any time soon, I will add them to my usual rotation.

  18. I’m going to crop the other 2 pair. I think they’ll great in the cropped length.

    1. I tested it with a little pin on the seam. Since you’re typically in warmer weather than I am a custom crop to the thinnest part of your ankle makes sense. Enjoy!
