Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

    1. Thanks for the heads up! It wasn't one of my offers, but I'm glad to have at least known to look.

  2. They tend to be targeted. You're welcome Cheri! Perhaps there were other retailer offers? I have some for Neiman Marcus, Rag&Bone, Hugo Boss, Intermix & MatchesFashion. But I've never shopped at any of these retailers ... JC & Madewell having filled most of my wardrobe until now.

  3. Everlane: I've posted about my love for the chunky wool turtleneck I bought this winter. It's thick, soft, a great knit, super warm and all wool. They have a similar crew neck style but I thought it might be too short. I decided to measure another sweater and realized the size Medium would work, even though it's supposedly oversized and some reviews said to size down. I ordered on Friday I think and received my order today. The sweaters are perfection. Trust me, I didn't want to spend this much on a plain shaker crew neck BUT I didn't want nylon and when I loved the turtleneck so much I decided it was worth it. They're perfectly oversized and even though they are a warm wool, the shaker knit will work for three seasons. (It almost looks like cotton).
Also, customer service is excellent with this experience. One of the sweaters had some lint/dust and I reached out Immediately. They sent a new one and emailed me a free shipping label to send the other one back. The lint wasn't terrible but with wool I'm always concerned about dust and larvae so better safe than sorry.

I know I talk a good line about being more minimal but when I compare the product I see in this case I might be better off buying less even if the item costs a little more. I haven't found Everlane pants I love but might try the new wide leg chino.

  4. I like Everlane's skinny Ponte pants. Haven't shopped there avidly. But nibbled on some ChooseWhatYouPay items.

  5. An interesting article about UNIQLO, with comparisons to Gap and LLBean, and brief mentions of J.Crew, Madewell and Everlane.

    1. Interesting. I have a store about 20 min away in a mall I never go to. Maybe I should check it out. I’ve walked thru a store once and it did remind me of the Gap of my youth.

    2. I quite like my UNIQLO pieces, though they’re largely from their athletic/casual side so I can’t really compare to J.Crew. I do have two linen sweaters which I love in the summer, and I have a IDLF button-front hoodie that I bought last fall and will wear this spring.
