I've always loved the cute contrasting lining that J Crew often uses inside blazers (for example, stripes, polka dots). I like to turn back the sleeves and I have the lining peek out.
ReplyDeleteWhen they show pictures online of the lining I always assumed that the sleeves would have the same lining. But I've noticed in the newer jackets that even if the lining for the body has a fun lining, that the sleeves often (always?) have a different lining. - usually a sedate (boring) color that matches or blends into the exterior color. So when I turn back my sleeves, there is no fun contrast. I can't say I've looked at every recent blazer, but a couple of examples are the recent English tweed and Parke houndstooth and velvet blazers.
Is this to cut costs? (The lining in the body doesn't seem like it's any higher a quality than what I see recently in the sleeves, but maybe that fun lining actually costs more and not using it in the sleeves saves money?) Is this because other customers don't like the contrasting lining to show when they turn up their sleeves?
Today I am wearing the blackwatch Regent F9306 (regular version F8196) and enjoying its cute polka dot lining which is used in both the body and the sleeves!
correction - Parke houndstooth has black lining everywhere... but the Parke velvet does have cute striped lining in the body (with boring dark lining in the sleeves)
