Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. No visit since I am on driving restriction after major surgery. But being up a lot at night is expensive - I bought a popback of the Leopard Academy loafers last night. I have Academy loafers in both sizes 9.5 and 10. These are 9.5 crossing my fingers they fit since it is a no-return! I love the Academy style, somehow they make my large feet look slender. My favorite pair is gold, they get a lot of attention. I can see wearing leopard with almost everything (assuming they fit). I always passed on them due to the price, but this time at $45 I caved.

    1. Hope you feel ok! I'm having somewhat unexpected surgery next week too. Hoping recovery is easy for both of us, sending healing thoughts!

    2. Noticed that a LOT of items are priced higher now (9 am) than earlier. Especially shoes. Good thing I found mine at midnight.

    3. I looked around midnight and there was no update yet, and then this morning noticed the higher prices. I tried the leopard on and they were tts for me. Great score!

I hope both of you ladies have smooth recoveries :)

    7. Thanks to all! I will admit to a *moderate* amount of retail therapy, since this clearance sale coincided with my release from the hospital.
Even though I am mostly trapped at home, and I have a medical appliance stuck to me, I am trying to change into nice looking clothing after my am shower. With the weather that is mostly shorts and a linen tank or tee. And I am using some of my New Balance sports gear on my am walk before that. Some years ago I stopped wearing worn out clothing at home, and it has been a mood-lifter now for sure.

  2. Stopped by Brookfield for a return last night and the displays made me wishful for fall. Lots of leopard and faux fur and that deep teal color with pops of mustard. I haven’t had time to go through the new arrivals on the website and update my wishlist yet but I am more optimistic about JC this fall than I have for 2-3 years.
Unrelated: I placed an order Tuesday and received it yesterday (Thursday). Haven’t experience such fast shipping in ages!
I picked up a popback of the cropped silk pant in foulard print. Questioning how to style it now. If I can’t make it work, I would rather return. Help? I have mostly black, navy and stripes in my wardrobe.

    1. I like them with a light sweater for now, maybe layered with a button down when it gets cooler. Or even with a button down for now depending on how you can tuck. I have the lace easy pants which are essentially a pajama pant style and I wear them with the light blue with red piping pajama top tied at the waist. Each time I've worn this outfit I've gotten compliments.

    2. I feel like you have to tuck shirts with this style because it looks too pjs when untucked. But the elastic waistband makes them balloon slightly especially when a shirt is tucked in. I don't know if this is bc I got my usual size and I should have gotten one size bigger for a slouchier fit. I usually shy away from slouchy looks because I'm short and don't usually wear heels, so slouchy = longer hems.

    3. I know what you mean, that's why I tied my button down at the waist. Some of them have a flat front that works a little better. Maybe sweaters/knits will work better

  3. I've placed several orders over the past few days. Pool slides, leather flip flops, the lace ups with ribbon in black, for a great price. Ordered the black and chambray tie waist shorts since I still love the fit of these even if the zipper sucks. Scored the black silk Blythe button down which I was eyeing for awhile. Last night as my eyes were closing I saw my NB leggings with side pockets reduced to under thirty and ordered a few more since they're great workout pants and I wear them everyday in cooler weather. And for six bucks got the Team Optimist shirt which is the perfect price to pay. Thought it would be funny to wear on the sidelines during my daughter's games or other events, but I also saw someone who treated it more as a positive message re: health so there's that too.
I didn't even use my rewards since points are doubled on every dollar spent. Not sure how that works but I figured everything was pretty reasonable and then I can use my rewards for something more special.

    1. @ Suz Has, best wishes for your surgery. It is hard to deal with, but usually beats the alternative. Wear your Team Optimist t-shirt and fake it.

I love the NB workout gear, and now have enough for several years (decades?). Some from JCrew and some came from Factory. Plus I outfitted hubs too, and he loves the stuff as much as I do.

    2. Yes, I'm in the several orders category too. The prices have been fantastic. The Team Optimist will be a fun one to wear at games; I picked up the blue one and really like the color.

    3. Tara, I was hoping to snag the blue one as well for her club team so ill keep my eyes open for it!

  4. I stopped in Wednesday to check out the new arrivals and tried on a ton of clothes - leopard pencil, puff sleeve blouse, Point sur pointelle sweater and eyelet top, floral wrap dress, Abigail Borg dress, collection tie waist pants (love!), Ratti silk print skirt, Thomas Mason tie neck shirt (also a love). There are still some items I'd like to try but they'll have to wait until after vacation.

You can see the post on my blog here

    1. The Collection waist tie pants look great on you. Super feminine with the flowy top you have one.

Get them in that green color! It goes with more than you think. With navy, white, black, ivory, brown, gold, coral, denim blue, cranberry...

    2. Thank you for the reviews, Anne, as always, so very helpful! I ordered the floral wrap dress after seeing it on you (and since the 40% off code works applies).

I decided to go with a tall to get a little extra length - I have that same dress in black, and it is a little shorter than I like. I also ordered the leopard pencil skirt.

So you have been very helpful to my fall wardrobe!

  5. Also, here is an interesting article on what to expect for J.Crew's relaunch. Curious to hear people's thoughts.

    1. Wow, this all sounds wonderful. I really like the concept of sub-brands - I think it will help us see collection cohesion and while at the same time allowing us options to mix and match within brand. J. Crew is really behind on sustainability and advocacy so I very much look forward to those changes. Fingers crossed for the relaunch!

    2. That all sounds good except for the global expansion. I am all for global expansion in theory, but I'd like to see them get their house in order on a smaller scale before expanding. Rapid global expansion seemed to be part of the problem before, and no one was minding the store at home so the whole brand imploded near and far. I hope they're careful about it and do it right this time.

  6. Sale update 1600 plus items. I scored last year’s Academy loafers in leopard for $45.99. I actually like them better than this year’s version with the black leather heel.
I was on a shopping ban as I bought so much while on vacation. Was because how could I pass up a deal like that??

    1. I didn’t get double rewards points though. Anybody else had that happen?

    2. I ordered the Leopard Academy too. Also the Evie heel in patent red. Looks like a shoe my grandmother would have liked in the 1920/30s.

      I did get double points.

    3. Checked the rewards total just now and the double points show up, so apparently they corrected it themselves, as I didn’t contact customer service.

  7. Yep- noticed that too when I placed order that the area that says “you earn x points for this order” still showed single points. Not sure if it changes once it posts but I emailed CS about it just now.

  8. Pricing seems to shift a bit but so far I'm happy with what I've received.
Pool slides: these are so silly but for $4 I'll mostly use them as house slippers. I tend to walk around barefoot but we are doing work in the new house and I'm always running outside so I'm thinking illl keep one pair by the main entrance and one pair by the back door. They're light and comfortable for me, and slip on easy.

Drapey top with ladder trim. I ordered two sizes, 2t and 4t. I do that a lot. I like the shape and it's a great layering piece, even with a sweater over it the end of the shirt can be left untucked and it will look nice. The 4t doesn't gape at all on the sides which I read was an issue for some.

Leather flip flops. Soooo...I tried them on' took them off, and they disappeared. They seem a little loose across the foot on me. If I find them I might return them if I can. Not bad, especially for the price, but I don't know I'll be able to walk far.

    2. I have leather flip flops from years ago. The straps on mine are also loose but not bad. They get looser over time.

  9. My store had a 40% off sale on EVERYTHING including new arrivals. Left empty handed. My last purchase, which is machine wash according to the care label, after two washes the hem is unraveling. Had thought about getting another color of this item but decided that I just don't want to deal with another unraveling hem. Where is the old JCrew!

I was buying something at Anthropologie and asked for a catalog. The sales associate told me that "the best way to get those is to subscribe on our website and they will mail it to you." WTF? I am a paying customer and you can't give me a catalog? I have subscribed to get catalogs several times over the years. I always get a single catalog in the mail, and then never again. WTF anthro. This, plus cheap material, plus your website not accurately filtering by size, I will take my time and money elsewhere.

    2. It is all about the new jcrew. It starts with pages of items: the everyday cashmere sweater (and the emphasis on color),the Daphne topcoat, the Academy Penny Loafer, the Penny sandla, the 1988 Rollneckneck sweater, the parke blazer and the Harper bag. Then “meet the new crew” is all about people that work there and inspiration (like nonprofits).then the new mix: wrapdress,Juliette sweter blazer, extra special outwerwear, leopard everything, bold patterns, velvet crush and conversation starters (aka tees with words). Then indroduction if point sur. Then the new value collection (aka indroducing Mercantile).
      The new Blues (jeans collection).
Then “the new fits” and the “the new Icons”.
After that the same for mens.

  13. Received TWO $25 birthday codes (thanks, J Crew!) and I think I want to add a new sweater blazer to my collection. I’m tending to buy multiples these days only of the J Crew styles that work for me. I didn’t realize there were so many new styles of sweater blazers - open front, Juliette, Sophie and Margot. Any suggestions or comments on fit of the different styles?

    1. I have to say i love the Juliette collarless sweater blazer (also reviewed it) and i actually have one on hold:)

    2. Actually forgot to mention that is is pretty long and thats the reason why i havent bought it yet. I am only 5 f 2” and it us mid to lower thigh on me

    3. I love the light blue Sophie (long enough to cover my hips, I wear it with leggings sometimes! Looks great with jeans and slim pants) But definitely agree w In -size down. I have the black Sophie on it's way in the mail, and I am eyeing the Juliette but can't decide whether I want the gray, burgundy or light pink color! I welcome your color suggestions :)

  14. First time in a JC store in almost 2 months and I went to Factory at Harbor in MD. Not happy AT ALL with my purchase. I found the retail leather biker jacket in the 50% sale section. I was overly thrilled, so much so that I didn't bother to check the jacket once I saw that it fit. I was in a rush so quickly got in line and was out the door. When I got home and really had the time to look it over, the jacket had a hole in the leather. My one lone size left in America and it has a hole on the vest. They said that the 50% section was final sale (although there is no indication on the receipt) but the CS told me that I could get store credit if I needed to return my purchase. I don't want store credit, the item is defective and I want my $$ back. Really irritated but I am ready to argue my case about this one.

    1. Oh dear, a good leather repair shop should be able to make a near-invisible repair (try motorcycle shops for references). But it will cost about $30. Perhaps CS will give you a credit for the cost of the repair? How large is the hole?

      Delete
    2. Wow, that is terrible! If you are able to, I would just try to return it to the store (assuming you haven’t already). I’ve had luck returning final sale items before (especially if damaged), and if the receipt doesn’t say final sale then it shouldn’t be a problem.
If you aren’t able to get back the to store then I would just call back and talk to a different representative. I have never had them deny a refund for a damaged item. It doesn’t say anything about damaged/defective items in the final sale section. It should have not even been on the rack!

      Delete
    3. This is why I look over items super carefully when purchasing retail items from factory. Some are fine, others have giant flaws. I tried on some jeans that had huge holes along the seam that I found before purchasing but bought a silk blouse that was missing a button and had pulls in it that I didn’t see until I got home. My store usually does mention those items are final sale but when it is that damaged you should be allowed to return. As others said you may be able to repair for cheap if you got a great deal it may be worth it,

  15. I’m a former J Crew ( retail ) employee.
If an item is damaged, we would ALWAYS honor the return, no question. This is probably not the case anymore with this “New Crew.” Good luck!
