J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. New arrivals up on the site today including a great looking cotton midi dress, a polka dot pleated skirt (yes please!), a ruffle sleeve cotton top, a new Liberty paisley top, and some suuuuuuuupee cute leopard flats that I will definitely try. Oh, and a gorgeous embellished khaki pencil skirt. At 23 inches I can only wear with tights so I’ll hold off on that skirt for later. I also noticed some cute liberty flats with one of the new jeans. Hopefully those will be in the next rollout.

    1. Thank you @liztriden! Nice to see new arrivals, too bad there’s no promo (at least for Canada I don’t see any). Does anyone know when the Sept rollout is?

  2. Damn, I love the new block heeled shoes but seriously have enough glitter, leopard, etc shoes.

  3. Of course I ordered stuff last week and no update to a sale promo...sigh. But I did have some wins so hoping my store will be running % off sale so I can get adjustments. We'll see.

I reordered the Mercantile drapey tie dress in blossom print when it was $29.99 (it's back up to $39.99...but if you order from factory it's $29.99 with the clearance pricing...sigh). Anyway, I originally ordered a M and returned because I wasn't loving it. I reordered in a small and I like the fit much better. The sleeves are a smidge short but it's cute and I think this may make the packing cut for our trip to London & Paris at the end of the month.

Tie Sleeve Top with Pintucks in Daisy floral - for $20 and 5 star review, I gave this a try. Usually a 4/6 and the Small is perfect - good for work or with jeans. The print is nothing to write home about but it's a good black/white basic and easy to wash with it being poly. For the price, I'll keep it.

Button Up Peplum in Star Print - tried this in a 4T since I was worried it would be short. It's just ok, not quite my style. I wish it were black as I don't tend to wear navy a lot with jeans. It didn't fit me quite like the model - wasn't as blousy but that could be the sizing, maybe the 6T would give me more of the blousy look. Price wasn't good enough to keep.

Scarf Print dress - grabbed a popback in a 6 in this. I'm usually an 8 in straighter fit dresses/6 in A-line dresses but this is a good fit. It's so pretty! As another JCA commented, it is LONG - it's below my knee on me at 5'8". I wish it were a tad shorter and with the pattern, alterations aren't really an option but with heels it's pretty and I think I will be able to put a blazer on to wear it to work as well. It's a thinner fabric but not sheer and it fits well on my hips which is usually why I need a size up - I will need spanx to smooth me out in front but it's a pretty and unique dress. We're having some professional photos taken while we're in Paris and this is on the short list for dress options for the photos.

I have a few new arrivals wishlisted but nothing I need right away. That silk tie neck short sleeve blouse is really pretty and I still have my eye on the white puff sleeve Thomas Mason blouse from the last rollout. I have liked what I've seen on IG from Brookfield so optimistic about what's to come for fall.

  4. small roll out. didn't know this one was coming. usually it would have been the third week in the mth. seems like they are late to the party with a few things. like a few of the newish sweaters. but will wait for promo. they will have to slash the swim suits alot more. they made way too many...the playa ones were skimpy on the rear or I would have loved them. too bad they messed up on these.

  5. Styling the Factory high-rise skinny jeans (yet again) on the blog. Fit is TTS. I love these so much that I own two pairs, and they stay super white wash after wash.

  6. Hello fellow Crew disciples:

I never know where to post my general J.Crew questions; hope I'm ok here.

Before this January, I hadn't purchased from J.Crew since college @20+ years ago. I "rediscovered" J.Crew in January, and since then the family has spent around $3,000 (there...I said it) with J.Crew; primarily in pop-backs for me, as I enjoy the sporting aspect of it. I have always wondered when I might get "additional 10% off your next order" coupons, but none have been forthcoming.

When I ordered a pair of chinos at 6am today, I noted that my account had a blue home-plate shield and advised me that shipping will always be free now that I am a J.Crew Rewards Member. Pardon my naïveté, but is this a temporary promo...? I don't recall having opted into anything, and I do not have a J.Crew credit card.

    Have a great afternoon!

    2. Made a typo in my first comment! If you have an account at J.Crew, you are now a J.Crew Rewards Member (any customer with an account at the start of August is now a Rewards Member, and this is completely separate to the J.Crew credit card). So 1 point for every dollar spent and a $5 reward when your points balance hits 200. And free ground shipping 24/7, 365. :)

  7. All the shoes look so sad and cheap online. I would imagine they are worse in person. They used to have such beautiful shoes....
    *sigh*

    1. I agree! I was just looking at new arrivals last night and the shoes looked so cheap it prompted me to look at Poshmark for old J. Crew shoes! The problem is that the shoes from 2007 - 2009, which were so amazingly made in Italy with leather soles, etc. look dated in terms of style. I want a modern looking shoe with that level of quality.

  8. Sigh- with the lack of a central creative designer and discontinuation of the style guide, J Crew has lost that which made it so unique. Even their use of color is waning and it’s sad cuz that’s what made them so strong. I still find one or two pieces but the charm is not there for me anymore. Sorry- belonged in vent post.
