"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. What’s happening with shipping? None of my orders from August 8 and later have shipped! As I’m traveling that means I’ll have left by the time my order arrives at the store for pick up. Grrrr
    Anyone else noticed this too?

    1. I have 2 small orders on the way. Both shipped promptly but were sent via UPS mail innovations again.

    3. My first order after the Rewards program started shipped super fast. Subsequent orders, not so much. UPS Mail Innovations - boo.

    4. CS told me Canadian orders shipping time is now 7-10 days. prior it was 9 days.

    5. Mine are shipping fairly quickly but they are coming in piecemeal - Three orders, so far have received three packages, with at least four more packages still to come. At least two of the packages were just one item each.

    6. Update: we’re in Charleston today and my orders arrived at the store before they were shipped. So I think the info in the Order History is not up to date.

    7. @fleurdelijis if they have the item in stock in store its not shipped but instead pulled and put in bags.

    8. @Ina both my orders were shipped from Lynchburg so it might have been a computer glitch;-) Picked up my orders this afternoon, both keepers. And the Charleston store has a great sale section. SA was so nice too!

    9. PSA: I emailed customer service and they told me: ‘We recently were made aware of notification emails that are delayed or received at a later time’.

  2. “Up to” 50% off women’s swim with 100s of items in stock, and no % off summer sale. In the middle August? Cmon J Crew, you need to offer a bigger incentive if you don’t want this stuff sitting around in January.

    1. they continue to have blinders on IMO . careful on the swimsuits alot of the playa style has minimal backside coverage. if they had not been...I would have stocked up. the colour/patterns were cute. they would have been good suits to wear in pools (not having to worry they would not last more than a season of chlorine)

    2. agreed. I bought swimwear earlier in the summer for better prices with the 50% off sale. They should be giving it away by this point. I agree that they definitely made too much swimwear this year. Mark it down and clear it out!

  3. Not a vent- wearing the Abigail Borg shirt dress today and love it. Fit is beautiful, not wrinkly, great drape of the fabric. Received several compliments. It’s a winner.

  4. Hi JCA's - the site has been acting strangely for me, it looks like a mix of the current site and the "old" site (where the categories are listed on the left hand side instead of across the top). I did see a placeholder for a digital catalog, so perhaps that's coming soon?

    1. Good eye, SL. The digital catalog page is marked “catalog test.” I wonder what that means.

    2. I still can't get the website to work on my laptop, the lower banner covers half of my screen and blocks half the page. For one day or two last week it seemed to work and now it's back to the old way, this is a Windows 10 machine and fairly new.

    4. It apparently has something to do with my Chrome settings, using Edge makes the site look entirely different...

  5. The website looks HORRIBLE! Like a bad version of the Gap's site. What is going on with JC? I got a pair of the tortoise hoop earrings the other day and they are just awful- itchy and painful and heavy. I'm glad I only spent $15 on them but still...the quality is just so bad anymore. By contrast, I can walk into Anthro and get earrings that work for a long time. JC needs to realize that people are walking away.

  6. Went to make returns after work today. In store(347 Madison Ave in NYC) 30% off sale items. I did not buy anything as I arrived 2min prior to closing, but was able to get a price adjustment for my order that I placed yesterday....very excited....

    1. Does that work only if you placed an order on the day of the instore sale?

    2. Eeps, in my experience it works as long as you are still within the 7 day price adjustment window. I will just call or email and say I was in the store and they are having a % off sale and I think my order is eligible. Or, if I see here that a store has a % off sale and my local store doesn’t I’ll say I saw that (insert store here) has a % off sale and that usually works too!
