Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I had a few sale things in my cart and didn't pull the trigger at 50% off figuring who knew what would happen by Friday...well...they're still in my cart at 40% off.

  2. Had a bag full of returns yesterday. Saw that the store promo is 40% off sale...final sale. Not going back!

    1. I actually had to laugh when I saw a lady at the counter contemplate buying a $10 sweater (after the 40% off) once she heard FINAL SALE.

  3. I snagged my elusive black silk tunic around 3am! I find it odd that the promo has stayed relatively consistent all week. Makes no sense to me? I’ll run into my B&M this weekend to return some things (cape scarf, some tees).

    1. Ha! I was up at that time with my bad tummy and I saw it. I was hoping you scored - hooray! I am guilty of buying multiple colors of things I like too.

    2. Aw @p you’re too sweet! Hope your tummy feels better!

  4. I also have meant to say that I got the leopard cover up a few weeks back and love it. Perfect weight, long sleeves and length is great. I also love how it buttons all the way down so you can adjust coverage as needed.

  5. I'll be returning the tunic dress in chambray XS as well the denim mini dress in 0. I had the same issue with the tunic dress as I did with last summer's eyelet caftan. There is something about the cut that makes me look very hippy and wide. Disappointed but glad I was able to try it on popback to get it out of my head.

    1. Although I have a hard time thinking that an XS or a 0 would ever actually look wide, I do think tunic and swing dresses work best on figures that are relatively straight. I am returning the very nice Easy Tunic Dress ($17!) for the same reason. I just look bigger when I lose my waistline. I also don't do well in the tunic top over skinny pants/leggings look. That said I have some knit dresses without a waistline that work fine, like the red and white Striped Turtleneck Dress from last year. Some fabrics follow your shape better.

    2. Yes, exactly! I do love their striped rugby dress and have other various swing dresses, but I see what you're saying and blame the fabric for less drape. You are sweet, but it really was most unflattering. The silk tunic dress was a big no for me too! $17 dress returns are heartbreaking...

    3. @cheritheberry did I read (somewhere) you work at J.Crew now?

    4. Yes, below, and I posted about it when I was hired, too. I'm there part time nights and weekends when my little guy is with his dad. Love it!

  6. I have some returns but not sure if I will make it in this weekend or not. I really wanted to love the eyelet flutter hem dress but the flutter hem hits right at where I always feel the widest in the thigh area and I'm not quite sure it's totally for me. I tried an 8 and 8T - sadly the 8T came with a huge rip in the back of it and the 8 worked well (I'm a 4/6 on top and 8 on bottom). Maybe I need to try better styling options but I think I'm passing on this one.

I tried and really like the sleeveless smocked top in falling floral. I tried a 4 and a 6 - 4 was a bit too short in length but good in the body - 6 was a bit looser and better on length. I was up in the middle of the night this morning and grabbed a 4T so hoping that will work better.

I also got the striped espadrilles which were a really great deal for $29 - went with my usual 9.5 and they're big - I would have been better off with a 9 which is of course sold out so watching for a popback. Even tied tight my heel is still knocking around in them but they're so cute!

    1. Anne, is the sleeveless smocked top in falling floral the black one with red/pink flowers? I like that one but the length concerned me as well. Are the flowers red and pink or dark/light pink?

      Delete
    2. Suz, yes, that's the one. My guess is you'd need a tall. The flowers are red and pink and there's some green in there too.

    3. Thanks Anne, I'll keep my eyes open for a 2 tall.

  7. No J.Crew visit for me this weekend, but the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale just opened up to the public. I picked up a couple things, which I posted about on my blog.

  8. Saw a fall preview and it made me optimistic:)
There will be a shirtdress in 10 colors (actually color is back in those things that i saw!) and a wrapdress in velvet.
Lots of boiled wool and a boiled wool wrap coat.
August emphasis is on florals with Liberty and a new collaboration with Abigail Borg.
    Also new handbag designer.
    Lots of solid pencilskirts coming.
September will bring blazer (solid) and mens wear patterns like herringbone and donegal.
    Also coatigans (aka cardigan coats).
Jewelry goes back to bold with tortoise and lots of crystal.

  9. Actually went to the store for my returns. New/young (very young) employees at register. Didn’t see any of my familiar stylists but summer Friday at 4pm is pretty quiet around here.
Lots of sale stuff at 40% off but nothing of interest.
Madewell was 30% off sale. The only think I’ve gotten from madewell this summer is a pair of boardwalk crossover sandals which I love. They do have this years’s version (Or similar) time off tank but not in my size. I’m finding the style too boho and the more preppy button downs are too boxy and I most of the color palette doesn’t work for me.

  10. Went this morning to return my leopard Coras. Sizing up for length just made them too wide. My store had a few pairs of the leopard calf hair Academy Loafers at $93 less 40%---unfortunately no size 7.5. Anyone see them in their stores? Thanks!

    1. Yes but didn’t check sizes. Short Hills store.

    2. I also went to the store for pickups and eventual returns. 2 orders, 5 items and ended up keeping only one. The leopard Coras in my regular size were too short in the back but too long in the toe box. The gold strap sandal flats were too big. I was so bummed about all the returns - the prices were so good but the sizing and the quality weren’t there. A lot of people were hesitant at the register when told about final sale. In fact most people opted not to buy the sales items once told.

    3. So I like the Leopard Coras, but it took three tries - I wound up a full size up from my usual, since they run extremely short. My foot is wide in the front, narrow in the back and this sandal is actually an excellent fit. Plus I caught them at $13.50 on 50% off Wednesday before the base price was raised.

I also ordered the Cross-strap sandals in leopard calf hair in my regular size, and would have kept them except the heel strap for the left shoe was way longer than the right shoe and falls off. I even checked to make sure they were the same size. The soles are identical, but the straps are different. Plus the right shoe is narrower in the front than the left. Total mess.

I also picked up a couple of perfect tees from the 50% off day, a red long sleeve and a green short sleeve. They are both a size up from my normal small. For the long sleeve that was totally necessary, it fits quite snug but I like it. The green shirt is loose, a small would have been better, but it is still a keeper as the dark emerald color is nice.

From the sales I also love the black and ivory Embroidered top in cotton voile, the green striped linen perfect shirt, and a popback of white Ashbury flares. The Ashbury flare may be the best fitting jean I ever found for my hourglass shape with muscular thighs. There is no gapping at the waist and no tightness on the legs. The length is perfect with a 2 1/2 inch heel, I can get away with 2 3/4 as well. I am calling these jeans trousers and wearing them to work on regular business days with cropped jacket. It is true love...

    4. I looked for a 7.5 in Short Hills yesterday and there was none.

That is a crazy about the leopard coras because my regular size 7 fit me perfectly. I have seen a lot of people try these in and take different sizes. How much space we like in the front and back is a very personal decision! I'm glad you found a pair that worked for you p banos, and also that the jeans and blouses are such a hit!

  11. Have one in store pick up and the last of my sale orders will arrive next week. Mostly picked up vacation items: linen tanks, flower and bead earrings, Ibiza tote w/pom poms, swimmer bikini, cover up in Ratti Rossignol floral and garden statement bib necklace (gift). They were great prices and I know I'll wear during upcoming holiday in Kenya and Istanbul. Since Collection is going away & the holidays will be here soon enough, decided to order ruffle skirt in yarn-dyed plaid. It's a fun piece that was shown at NYFW & for the price (50% + 20% off coupon), I want to see how it works for me.

  12. Anyone ever exchange an item by mail? I sent an item in to exchange along with a return. I received an email mail on Thursday in regards to the return being processed but nothing in regards to the item I wanted to exchange. Should I be concerned? I figured I would get a return email and then a new order email for the new size but perhaps I am wrong.

    1. At least you know they have the item. I should think receiving returns and shipping exchanges are different areas, so I wouldnt worry yet.

  13. Since my local store closed and I've been shopping less, I'm suddenly feeling a bit nostalgic and certainly hopeful about fall per Ina's comments on future arrivals. My most recent look at the website had me feeling alienated. So many items and pics could be off the Kohl's catalog. ...and is there no longer free shipping on crewcuts orders???

    1. I think once the loyalty program rolls out and you sign up uou always get free shipping (kind of like at madewell) for every order.

  14. Went to South Park (Charlotte, NC) store. Very picked over. The only thing that saved the trip was the Oscar de la Renta exhibit at the Mint Museum is fabulous. About 50 outfits, including several from past Met galas. I think it's only up one more weekend, but was worth the trip from Winston-Salem.
